Honestly this place is slightly over hyped. Because of the review from here and open rice, I may have over expected the quality. The otoro I ordered was indeed very fatty but it was also ‘stuck-in-your-teeth’ stringy and slightly chewy. This restaurant indeed uses fresh wasabi which was a good plus. Their failure was in their rice, which was under-cooked and under-seasoned and this lost them a star. Sushi rice is so very important in a good piece of sushi, it literally makes or break a dish. This is an average traditional sushi restaurant at best. Staff was friendly and attentive. Sitting at the sushi bar does not mean you order from the chef. I requested for the Uni to come last, it came first. The rice was too hard and the ratio was off(too much rice not enough Uni.) This ratio imbalanced applied to each dish I ordered. The order of which you eat sushi is also important. For the price, I’d go elsewhere as I’ve had better. The saving grace was the unagi don. Grilled perfectly even the rice was done just right. I did ask for extra sauce; however, when it arrived, it was disappointingly runny. As if it just came out of a bottle. It should of been thick and luxurious cooked slowly with the bones of the eel. The unagi don also came with steamed egg and miso soup. Both was very disappointing. Miso soup tasted like bonito soup. The steamed egg, although steamed perfectly, had no flavor whatsoever. Overall an ok experience but will not be coming back.

Wow Woww Weee Perfection? Close to it. This is certainly a restaurant that you have to experience to believe. I could tell you that all senses are aroused when dining, but you wouldn’t really know until you tried it. It’s that good. Literally, melts-in-your-mouth good. But this Sushi Shin also comes with a hefty price tag. If you want a number, I’d say about $HKD4,000 per couple. So if you want to eat here, I’d say, book it during a special occasion to make it worth it! OR, Not… just come if you’re hungry cause you certainly will be satisfied.

This place is perfection. However, that no doubt comes with a price. But not just another price, a rather steep one instead. Yet, I guarantee you that it is definitely worth it with its star listed food and professional staff. All in its finest. Sushi Shin enables its diners to go on an amazing trip of tasting authentic Japanese food that no one can forget. If you are lucky enough to be seated at the bar sections, you will be so excited to see how the chefs make wonders. The staff are very friendly and sometimes there might be some interaction between its diners and the chefs as well, especially if you order some seasonal food and they will show you how it is done with the insanely fresh ingredient. However, if you do not wish to spend that much money on a meal, its lunch menu offers nice choices that do not cost as much. The Uni sushi is the best I have ever tasted. Unlike most places elsewhere, Uni often has a strong taste of fishiness if they are not fresh; or just places just give a tiny bit of it; but not here. Yes, I understand it is rather costly but I am telling you it is definitely worth it and you will never try uni elsewhere after this. Again, this place never disappoints me and I will definitely come for more once I have a job that allows me to go cray cray on food. Soon. Soon.
