How about some scrambled eggs, sirloin beef, sausage and a cup of hot coffee on a rainy Sunday morning? Crowd here consists largely of family or couples. In the day it becomes a dining café while in the night it turns into a cocktail/drinking bar. Nice restaurant concept which captures both sides of the target group with its day and night duo concept. They sell lots of wine and cheese here, slightly similar to that of wine connection. Crowd starts coming in after 11am, probably the time when hongkies wake up in general? Haha. Spotting lots of caucasian who bring their kids here. Their food is average but what captures customers most is probably the breakfast menu they serve, along with a newspaper stand, dads seem to love it!

Really nice atmosphere and tons of vegetarian friendly options. We got a pitcher of white sangria that was really good and not too sweet like many others. For food we ordered the three cheese macaroni, kale and mango salad, and truffle French fries. The macaroni was bland, but everything else was good, especially the kale and mango salad. I would go again and try a different main dish.

The ambience is the best part of this place, and while the food is pretty good, the menu itself fails to properly describe the dishes which causes a disconnect between product and expectations. In two visits, we’ve encountered this… the lentil salad has no mixed greens and says it contains ricotta cheese but instead the only cheese is just some parmesan shavings on top. The quinoa salad on the other hand has only a tiny bit of quinoa compared to a huge amount of mixed greens(but you’d never know there was a difference between these salads as greens aren’t mentioned on the menu for either item!). They also both included huge amounts of grilled red onion which again wasn’t mentioned next to either menu item. The pasta special most recently was delicious, but didn’t include the pine nuts that were listed on the menu. The most frustrating part is that the food is actually good and healthy, just not what you’re expecting from the menu. Next time I think we’ll skip dinner and just do one of their famous cheese plates and a glass of wine… hopefully the cheeses listed on the menu are the ones we’ll actually get!

First time coming to Classified for after dinner drink. In fact, the cheese platter was great as usual(not cheap tho) and the coco water was refreshing. My hubby said that the wine was good too. Here is more quiet than other pubs and bars at Tai Hang which is good for late night chatting.

Good? Good, especially in a town where good Italian isn’t exactly commonplace. Great? Not quite great, but Classified is enough to satisfy any Italian craving in Hong Kong. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The service and atmosphere at Classified are absolutely a selling point, with a hybrid indoor-outdoor seating arrangement that’s comfortable regardless of which one you pick. Service is fast and friendly, and I’d recommend making an appearance for what looked like an excellent brunch. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I don’t recall exactly what I paid for my spaghetti and meatball dish, but I remember it being reasonable, and my portion was nothing to scoff at. I didn’t take a pic, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? We’ve got a tale of two cities with regard to my spaghetti and meatballs dish, so read on if you want both sides: The spaghetti and the sauce? A bit weak honestly. The noodles were chopped pretty short, which isn’t here nor there but is just a bit odd, and the tomato sauce was a bit weak and watery, without too much flavor of it’s own. The meatballs, on the other hand, were excellent, and really saved the dish at the end of the day. Moist and flavorful with good size and quantity. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Like I said, it’ll satisfy an Italian craving, but this won’t be the best Italian you’ve ever had. I’ll be back for brunch some day. No Star Granted.

Speaking of this place, actually I wasn’t aware of its name at first although the name was printed large and loud on the canopy. Classified is quite an exquisite diner to me giving the location and the setting of the shop; quite an ideal place for dates and romantic dinner for 2 as well~ Serving up traditional higher end western cuisine, it is rather shameful to confess that what i normally go for is more in the comfort food country. TheMac and cheese and cheese fondu are two of the must have every time i go there, probably due to the fact that my friends and I are very fond of the melty molten gooey goodness that warm cheese gives. Especially for the cheese fondu in which bread cubes and granny smith apples are served along side, the meatiness of the sour dough bread and the sharp tang of the apples counteracts and balances the warm soothing roundedness of the bubbling cheese. It is so good that a pot for 2 is barely enough, a fight would definitely start if it is shared among 4. It is also very tempting to use a spoon to scrape every single last bit of cheese from the pot when the bread n apples are gone; quite rude and vulgar i concur, but i’d rather be that than waste all those goodness in the pot. Or is it just me?
