Must come during their 10pm — 12am sushi special. It’s 50% off! And 100% delicious. I like how they have the sheet, and you check what you want. In addition to the conveyor belt of runway sushi pieces. Tip 1: show up 9:15p if you want to be in the first round seated. Seriously. Tip 2: there are a few sushi one in hk, so I’d suggest finding the one closest to where you’ll be sleeping. Because also MTR won’t be running past 12a.

Anybody who knows of Sushi One probably has heard of their ‘midnight sushi’ promotion — and most likely has been there for it too. From 10pm to midnight, which is when they close, their stuff is 50% — yes, including sashimi, sushi, rolls and even beer! My friends and I heard about this promotion a couple of months back, and of course we decided that we couldn’t give this a miss. Nobody turns down half-priced sushi! I’ve actually never been to Sushi One before — just walked past it — but I knew it as the sushi restaurant with the dark exterior. The first time we planned to come, we arrived there at 10:30 and there was a huge crowd of people lining up. I had expected that we would need to wait, but I didn’t think that it would be that crowded! We were told that their last order is at 11:30 and because there are so many people, we may not even be able to get a table by 11:30. So we left, disappointed, and made plans to try again. The next time, we were prepared — we got here at 9:40 to make sure we could get a table. We ordered lots to share between six people, getting things like octopus, shrimp and salmon sushi, hand rolls and beer too. The food was pretty average, in my opinion, and some of the sashimi wasn’t its freshest. I also couldn’t get the idea that we were eating what the restaurant was trying to get rid of at the end of the day out of my mind. My friends seemed to like it, though. The service here was a little slow. Towards the end, some of our dishes hadn’t arrived but by then, we were all really full and didn’t feel like we could eat anymore, so we told them to cancel the order. I haven’t been back to Sushi One since our midnight adventure and I don’t know if I will — but they do have a pretty extensive menu so for all sushi lovers out there, the promotion here isn’t one to be missed!
