Satay King

It’s kind of hidden in Mongkok, but once you discovered it you’ll come back. The restaurant is quite large and has a nice interior. It’s very busy, but we never had to wait long to get a table.
If you like seafood and fruits and don’t mind it being mixed together, then try the Crabmeat mango fried rice.

How have I not discovered this place before? I have passed by so many times to use the MTR station, but there you were, a large restaurant hidden upstairs.
You order by pushing the call button on your table like a KBBQ place. Cute!
The interior of Satay King is as quirky as its menu– very fusion and mixed with different cultures. It’s like a Hong Kong style café but with conflicting identities. I LOVE IT!
I had the Salt and Pepper Soft-​Shelled Crab to begin with and it was temperature hot in my mouth and spicy hot with the chilis. Oh and the fried bits of garlic! Yummy!
Garlic and Pepper Chicken Wings were ok– nothing too special about them.
My boyfriend got the Baked Angus Beef with Cream sauce and Mushroom Risoni/​Orzo and while he liked it, he thought the risoni was weird since he is used to rice with this dish. It came with a raw egg, so mix it well!
Baked Pork Chop Rice was AWESOME. Sauce was a bit tangy, pork chop was tender, rice was really delicious. This wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but something about this was very good.
Baked rice dishes were so filling and the bill was so cheap. They even gave us a jar of XO Chili Sauce at the end with our bill and two mints! I feel like I cheated them when I walked out because everything was so worth it!
