Very attentive bar/café/restaurant. You can get just coffee or drink without feeling obligated to order others to take a seat. You can ask for bigger size latte or cappuccino(not in the menu) for only 10HK dollar more. Seating are surprisingly nice when you hang out as you can see people walking and nice breeze is coming in and out.

This has been my go-to place for late night cake and wine. I have to say I love the cheese cake and sangria still but I have been soo disappointed by the service a few weeks ago that I’m still annoyed thinking about the experience just now… I was sick after CNY and still want to go out at night so we decided to enjoy a piece of cake before the public holiday end. We have ordered the chocolate fudge cake, a blue berry cheese cake and a sangria for my hubby. Then I asked for a glass of water, «Sparkling or still?» the waitress asked, «Tap water is fine.» I said. «Tap water is straight from the tap, not boiled, and we have bottle of sparkling or still water.» And she looked annoyed! We gave up and get a bottle of still water. I’m annoyed too, of cos I understand what is tap water. It’s just that I treat this place as a casual diner /café and never expect anyone would fuss about the type of water! And without care to her customer, she wouldnt know that it’s for my pills. Giving a super coughing person a bottle of chilled water is fetal! Conclusion: nice food, BAD service

This place has been around in SOHO for many years. Up on Staunton right next to the escalator; Portobello is one of the cozy restaurants that you can find offering easy gourmet as well as delicate desserts. Located at the heart of SOHO, Portobello makes the freelancer’s life easy — as much as the interior decoration offers a generic vibe of venetian café hinting an aristocratic style with bookshelves, wood and atmospheric lighting. Spending an afternoon in the café simply allows creative juice flow especially during the hours where SOHO is clean and easy. Picture This also supports the space with movie posters and vintage HK photos — whether eaters noticed it or not some of those prints are actually available for sale at Portobello. Personally the restaurant brings a lot of great memories and it is one of those cafes that you wouldn’t want it to go. Menu wise– Portobello shares the kitchen with restaurants around so therefore you can call on regular pizza, pasta or salads or even soups at anytime on any given day. However what has got to be highlighted is the Banofee, which definitely has to go with their giner-oolong tea — ’tis an amazing afternoon tea combo that is homely and fulfilling. This especially comes handy for sweet tongues when not a wide range of restaurants are not providing food in the area after 10pm when Portobello keeps its door open until at least 12 midnight.
