I know people come here because they can’t get into Tim Ho Wan. I am quite the opposite. I actually *like* this place and am under no pretense that fantastic food is served. Having said that, I come here cos I crave some noodles and soup. The beef noodles in spicy numbing soup is good. I heart it! People say their pot stickers and dumplings are average — well, I think the pot stickers aren’t too bad! Quite nice actually, and it scratches a specific itch — my need for some Chinese food before flying home. The service has improved — the guy who can speak English is soft spoken and really polite and bothers to smile at you. All in all, I always enjoy my meals at Overseas Dragon. Comforting food, in my view.

Sadly most previous reviewers tend to treat this place as a spillover from Tim Ho Wan, the Michelin starred dim sum place. That is quite unfortunate, as this place can stand on its own feet. Despite its name with 鍋貼水餃(pot sticker & dumpling), I find the pot stickers and dumpling are pretty average and nothing to write home about. However, the beef noodles are deserve attention. I almost always come just for the beef noodles. There are soup and dry varieties. Both are good. The beef are succulent and flavourful. The soup base is quite rich. They recently added the tomato soup base variety which is rare in HK. The noodles are also well cooked. The chilli sauce here is worthy of a special mention. It is pretty good and I love it, but really really spicy. Don’t try unless you can take spicy food. The service here(or lack of it) is a negative, but probably no worse many places in HK.

Screw you Overseas Dragon. I know you are down the hallway from Tim Ho Wan and you also serve dumplings and you made your logo look kind of Tim Ho Wan’s so you sucker in sucker tourists who think they’re in the right place, but are not! ANDYOUARENOTTHERIGHTPLACE! Plus, your dumplings are terrible. The only thing that saves you from a one star review is that your staff was very nice and pleasant and the food did come out quickly. However, it was terrible food and I hate you.

As it is always long queue outside Tim Ho Wan and I always end up having lunch here. The pros about this place are fast and cheap. The worst part about it is the bad service and lack of consideration of customers’ feeling. I ordered a dumpling noodle and a drink, and right after I made the order I found out there’s a set meal for the noodle and drink. I asked for changing the order to a set meal but not only the answer was a big No, but the attitude of the restaurant manager was rude. Don’t have much expectation anyway.

Taiwanese fast food, if it existed, this place would be it. The dumplings, both boiled and fried, are okay. The Taiwan beef noodles are pretty good. Although nothing is really exceptional. I don’t know about others, but I usually end up here when I go to the Michelin mentioned dim sum place a few doors down and I cannot get in.

This is the restaurant you end up at when Tim Ho Wan’s wait is just too long. It’s conveniently right next door, so they get a lot of business that way.(I can’t see why anyone would return here.) First off, I stood there waiting to get my number for the queue. It was very apparent I was waiting. But when the server arrived, she ignored me and proceeded to give the people behind me their number first. We finally get seated and it’s pretty self-explanatory. You see menu sheets and pencils in the middle of the table, so you know you’re supposed to fill out your own menu form. We did and I raised it up so it could be taken. I waited and was ignored. Finally, I was able to give it to a server. We sat and waited some more. I noticed other tables get their drink orders right away and was wondering where the heck ours was(cold soy milk). I finally asked about it, and the server had to check my slip to see if I did order anything or not.(I did, and they missed it.) I also noticed that they had crossed off something(dumplings) on my order form, and I asked them why. They said they didn’t have it. It would have been nice to know that they didn’t have that item instead of just crossing it off and not mentioning it to us. At this point, I wasn’t sure if I still wanted to add anything else because it just seemed chaotic in this place. Our order took quite awhile. I also noticed another couple who sat down before us actually end up leaving before they got any food. It took so long for anyone to even acknowledge them, despite their seats being right in front of the food window. The condiments were practically empty on every table. You could see customers reaching across various tables trying to scrape up any condiments that were left over in each jar. The staff could care less about this. Our last dish was chicken wings and it was a sorry excuse for an order of chicken wings. I think we ordered a soup noodle dish, but it was not memorable. And the one order of dumplings we did receive were just okay. Overall, don’t bother coming here. Just skip it. The service alone makes you want to pull your hair out… if you get any service that is.
