. The restaurant is at the top of The One building and offers an amazing view. They serve very authentic matcha(green tea) desserts, some of which were flown in from Japan.

A must-visit restaurant for Matcha lovers!!! It is on the 18th floor of The ONE and offers a nice view of the city. The restaurant is originated from Japan and decorates in a Japanese way. I tried the matcha Jelly and the matcha parfait and I would recommend the jelly because it came with the best ever matcha ice cream! Long queues? No worries, they distribute number tickets that come with QR codes. You can basically head off to shop in The ONE and constantly scan the QR code to check on the ticket status. I suggest you to return when there are 10 numbers left to your ticket number. A lot of the people just go too far or give up the tickets therefore it is always better to get back a bit earlier. I have waited for around 45mins to an hour for my turn.

Such a wonderful find way up in a huge building of shops in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui! My brother and I were brought here at the recommendation of our cousin and the experience was simply fantastic. The place gets packed very quickly and we came at a very fortuitous time around 1700 hours before the dinner rush. The theme here is green tea through and through… as in every dish is revolves around the stuff. On the savory side, the cold green tea soba noodles were perfectly al dente while those in broth and topped with fried tofu skin was equally derricious. The tofu was a first for me and I loved its soft sweetness that complemented the noodles very well. For sweets, I found the best green tea ice cream yet — creamy yet with so much green tea to bring perfect balance with the cream presence. The parfaits were also excellent with layers of ice cream, cake and red bean. The interior itself is very spacious with a large communal table in the center and a particularly sweet view of Kowloon and the skyline. Those interested in taking something to go will be happy to know that there’s a gift shop within the restaurant with a variety of green teas, cups, teapots and the like. Funny enough, this was probably my favorite meal of my Hong Kong trip and an absolute must try.

On the 18th floor, in the One mall, Nakamura Tokichi is an unforgettable experience where one will feel as if they were bathing in Matcha. I chose to go on September 1, a school day in Hong Kong to avoid the long line ups. I went with my mother at 9:30am and we weren’t the only ones already waiting. As time ticked and 10:30am rolled around, a staff from the restaurant came down with a basket full of dark chocolate squares with matcha centers as a gesture to thank those who waited patiently. She handed me a square card with a number which was used to line up again on the 18th floor outside of the restaurant. Once the elevators were unlocked, a small group including my mom and I began to head up. There, we lined up again but soon after, another wait staff came and took orders for a very special matcha mochi dish. Only 16 plates were made each day and only one plate per table, this mochi dish was unlike the usual dense and chewy mochi we come across daily. This glutinous warabimochi was soft, and melted in my mouth. It also came with a green tea and hoijcha dipping sauce and boy, did it taste heavenly. Another dish I ordered was the Uji no Fukiyose(宇治のふきよせ). It came with a scoop of green tea ice cream, 2 rice flour dumplings, a scoop of red bean paste, a chestnut for crunch and matcha and hojicha sponge cake. It was plated beautifully and the flavours worked well together. The last dish I ordered was the famous matcha parfait. Topped with a thick layer of milk whip cream, airy matcha sponge cake and puffed rice laid underneath. Then the third layer consisted of chewy rice flour mochi balls, raspberries and red bean paste. At the very bottom, there was a vibrant green matcha sauce and swimming in it are matcha jelly. Although the parfait wasn’t as good as the first and second dish, I did enjoy it quite a bit as it summed up all of the previous dishes into an elegant tall glass. As the meal came to an end and we had only 90 minutes to seat at the table, I wandered off to the section of the restaurant where you can purchase cake, cookies, matcha and varieties of tea. There was even a tea specialist who allowed customers to taste each tea. I ended up buying matcha cookies and 2 small packages of different teas with 2 tea bags in each of them. Now that I have taste desserts with authentic matcha powder, matcha desserts will never be the same. Next time, I can not wait to come back to this restaurant and try their matcha soba and shaved ice.
