A little on the pricy side but great food nevertheless. We had the Mekong noddles, pork chops & some veggies. Two were fabulous & one, the veggies, was okay. It’s an intimate table cloth Resturant with both great food & atmosphere. Well worth the 2 $.

I ordered a beef phở, fried flat noodle with seafood and rice roll wrap with soft shell crab and avocado. The restaurant is filled with romantic atmosphere. The services provided by waitress was fantastic while the phở was delicious yet fried flat noodle was a bit disappointing

can’t compete with our choices in the USA. but overall was decent for HK choices and close to HK Sanatorium.

My mother and I were walking around at Happy Valley having just done signing some documents at the bank. We decided to have lunch at Mekong Riverside, a Vietnamese restaurant close to Movieland on King Kwong Street. We were there at around 1pm and didn’t have to wait for a table. Looking around, there were many people in suits and work clothes so it was obvious that this was a lunchtime favorite for those who worked nearby. Their lunch set included an appetizer, a main and a drink. For the appetizer, I went with the rice paper rolls while my mom got the spring rolls. We both picked phở for our mains. The restaurant wasn’t very busy, so the food didn’t take long to arrive. In fact, I would say that it arrived a little too quickly — we weren’t even done with our appetizers and our phở had already arrived. My rice paper rolls tasted quite fresh and I liked that the rice paper was very thin. My mother’s spring rolls were a little oily though. The phở was just all right, but nothing to write home about. The beef was generally tender, but what I didn’t really like was that the soup was quite salty and MSG-ish. As for our drinks, my mother and I both got the lime soda which was really refreshing, but the lime flavor wasn’t strong enough. I like my lime sodas to be really sour, but this was quite sweet. Overall, this is a so-so Vietnamese restaurant — I can’t say I’ll be back as there are better restaurants in the neighborhood.

Good Vietnamese food is definitely not easy to come by in this town. I even feel strange for saying that, given that we are so close to Vietnam. It is funny how places like Canada, US, France, Australia have much better viet food than Hong Kong. When I first moved here, I went to so many viet places looking for some good comfort food. This was one of the only places that could satisfy my craving. I mean it still isn’t the same. This restaurant in particular is quite high brow for viet food, not what I was expecting. But hey, at least their phở is good. This restaurant is quite consistent. I come here often just because it’s convenient for me. They have lots of really yummy dishes, like their duck curry. One of the things that differentiates this restaurant from the other ones is that I find this restaurant much pricier than most other viet restaurants I have visited. Yes, the food is good. But in terms of value for a relatively economical cuisine, I think it is a little over priced.
