Décor feels like a Central restaurant but with much lower prices! Decent Vietnamese food with really good(aka cheap) prices. I didn’t try it this time, but saw that the Phở was about $ 45-$ 50 compared to $ 70 at Bep in Central. Even though I like the food at Bep better, it’s not close to Causeway Bay and these prices are much lower. Will come again for the phở and to try more items.

The line up at lunch time was an encouraging sign. The polar cap cold aircon was not a nice welcome — but the staff were happy to adjust to our needs. Service was fast and friendly — waitstaff even joked along with us. My wife had the tomato based soup with beef, I had the pork neck bun Cha. Both dishes were great: light, fresh and tasty. My noodles were a little clammy and didn’t break up as nicely as they should have. The pork neck was juicy and crispy– tasty: so good, that we ordered extra as a side dish to share. I would go back and do it all again.

Ehhh. Another A-OK place. I think there’s MSG here cause I was really thirsty afterwards. They really guard the door(LOL) so those people(like me) who order«take-out» can’t wait inside… so you’re melting out in the sun while waiting for your food. Anyway, I’d rather try another place… Is it affordable. yessssireeee…about $ 50HKD on average.

A lot of people I know who’ve come to HK from abroad often complain about the lack of a good bowl of phở here. But what I realized after going to Vietnam was that, the ‘good’ phở we’ve been looking for isn’t the authentic phở, which is oily, salty and sometimes msg-laden. We’ve actually been looking for a good bowl of American Phở, with clear broth, generous portions of beef and Sriracha sauce and sweet sauce somewhere on the tables. Phở Vietnamese Restaurant(«PVR») is pretty close I think. PVR has become a canteen of sorts for my colleagues, who are mostly American. So obviously their phở is working for the foreign palate. I’ve been here a couple times and usually order the ‘all in’ phở, which has beef, brisket, tripe, beef balls, and it comes in a slightly larger bowl than the standard phos. The soup is decent and flavorful, but does have msg in it; they use the thinner pad thai noodles which have more texture and the beef is pretty tender as well. Portions are not large(I order an extra side on top of the standard phở) but prices are reasonable, HKD50 — 80, depending on your order. They have your standard sauces on each table as well .The non-phở dishes are actually quite good, but they all take a long time so avoid it if you have a time constraint. One more thing, it actually gets packed during lunch. Best time to go is on the dot 12, or be prepared to wait. Dinnertime is a bit better, it gets busy around 7:30 but there are always one or two empty tables.
