If you are in desperation for dim sum but don’t want to go to a full blown Chinese restaurant; there is now a new choice. Lung Tak Lau is situated on Victory Avenue, I think most people will raise an eyebrow if you told them you were coming here for food because most of the shops here are pet shops. Down an entire street of incessantly barking dogs you will find this little shop here in the middle of the street, I saw little because it really is small– it seats around 20 people but that’s about that. You are all squeezed into impossibly small tables and served with a proper size teapot that takes up half the space as it is. The food is mainstream dim sum– there are around 20 – 30 items on there including favourites like cha siu bun, haa gaau and siu mai. All of which are extremely tasty as I suspect these people make their own dim sum rather than buy it from producers outside. Another must order is the steamed rice– with a variety of toppings this makes for a perfect cure to any hangover when you crave something filling. Drinking more tea will wake you up more so I guess this is a tasty solution to your post drinking blues. The location will also be a bonus for motorists as there are metered parking spaces outside, though it does get quite busy on weekends so expect to do a few more turns around the block before you can sit down.
