Very modern, clean, fancy. I say medium to high class people stay here. It is located in Aberdeen. The hotel is super nice, interior to exterior. But, the buildings next to the hotel look scary and demonic. The pool is extremely small, doesn’t really have a view. The gym is very limited as well. We went down to eat breakfast 3 times, menu barely changes. The house keeping even folds your clothes and lays it out. It feels nice. The view is great from high floors, which we had 36th and 37th. Those two being the highest. Staffs are friendly, room service was efficient. I will be coming back.

The hotel is off the tourists areas. Its located in Aberdeen — on the south side of Hong Kong island and its not easy to get there(not until the MTR station nearby is ready to open). We stayed one night here mainly the reason we had a private party nearby late at night. The room was modern, nice and clean. The room service worked, i.e. they responded your requests in a timely manner. However the hotel was packed with tourist groups from the mainland China. There’s nothing nearby not even a 7 Eleven to buy some snacks or bottle of water. If price is a big factor then this is a relatively nice 3.5 star hotel to stay over.

A couple of friends and I booked a room at L’Hotel South once for a rather trivial reason — to have a movie marathon overnight. Back then, the hotel was extremely new. It had only been open for a few months when were there, and the hotel is actually still quite new now. Due to its location tucked away in Aberdeen, it was significantly cheaper than other hotels that were on an equally grand scale. So yes, location-wise, L’Hotel South is not the best, but it’s not completely inaccessible either. There are two entrances, and the back entrance is actually on Wong Chuk Hang Road, where many buses pass. The main entrance is a little more secluded though. The hotel itself is very nice and new — the lobby is brightly decorated and very spacious, and hotel staff is polite. Just like most hotel rooms in HK, the rooms here are not big by any standard. The room we had was basically just large enough to fit two beds — very little walking space. But this is HK, and tiny hotel rooms are just something to get used to here. The room we had was very neat and tidy, and minimalistic in its décor. We asked for a DVD player(before booking the room, we called to make sure that they provide DVD players — if not, that would defeat the purpose of our little staycation!) and somebody brought it up to our room and set it up for us — we didn’t have any technical difficulties, luckily. The hotel restaurant, LIS Café, is pretty good — I have been there on separate occasions using Groupon offers, and their buffet is really quite the spread. Overall, I guess the only negative thing about the hotel is location — the nearest supermarket is at least a fifteen-minute walk, and there is no MTR near the hotel, though the Wong Chuk Hang Station should be ready by 2015.
