Where do I begin? It’s been two weeks since L’atelier and I am still in a foodie coma. I often travel to Hong Kong for work, and given I have about 0 personal time to myself, I rarely take advantage of the exquisite culinary options Hong Kong features. This time was different. I booked reservations for one. You may think it’s absurd to fly solo on such an endeavor but I was fully entertained from start to finish. There are no tables, besides the private dining in the back. Each patron is seated at the bar overlooking the kitchen. It is the cleanest, and quite frankly, the most efficient and quiet kitchen I’ve ever seen. Everyone has their unique job and executes it with excellence. It’s like watching ballroom dancing but better because you know that foie gras is coming your way. I couldn’t even hear the click of the hostesses high heel. And the server, where did he come from? I didn’t know you could get your PhD in food service. Ok ok, I’m being facetious but seriously he was that good. He guided me through the menu, helping me carefully select exactly which items I would enjoy the most, wine pairing, and made me feel like I was the only one he was taking care of. I’m not explaining it well but it did blow my mind. Now to the food — I think my photos do it justice. I ordered 4 «small» plates which consisted of mostly foie gras. The dishes appeared simple and clean but when I took a bite, the complexity of each dish became immediately apparent and my taste buds justified every penny spent like it was a 10 round bout between my wallet and my tongue. Mouth won, no contest.

Sometimes people ask me where to go in Hong Kong, and are surprised when I mention this place instead of some speciality noodle shop that makes handmade noodles, then rolls them out with a bamboo or something. Well, that’s just not my style. This place is more my style, and in my quest to go to every Joel Robuchon around the world, I was able to check this one off my list several times over, since I always come here when I’m in HK. Technically my favorite Joel Robuchon is in Las Vegas, but you can not beat the stellar quality and price of this one. Think about it. For about half of the price of the USA you can get nearly the same thing here. When I last visited they had lobster risotto, which my friend had, and I had the waygu steak with foie gras. They really specialize in seafood here more than anything, so you can keep a look out for fresh crab, salmon roe, etc. Everything is small by comparison, so think of this place as serving a bunch of starters. You can always add protein to your meal by ordering something a little larger like a small quail, or when they have it, duck. The last two times they served macaroons and chocolate cake with truffles for dessert. Sometimes they switch it up with something like guava, or a tart or pastry, but I prefer their chocolate items. A must go for those in Hong Kong searching for a taste of home that isn’t McDonald’s!

Came here a few days ago during the public holiday for lunch, and will definitely be coming back. Have to say I was surprised to dine on a bar table considering it’s a 3 Michelin Star restaurant, but the waiter told us that they only have 6 proper dining tables and those need to be reserved around 2 weeks in advance. Dining at the bar was definitely an interesting experience, because similar to Seasons, it has an open kitchen, although quite far away so you can really only catch a glimpse or two. But it’s definitely nice to have a view of the effort the chefs put in to craft your meal. Food: 5⁄5 They have 3 different set menus for lunch, but we didn’t order any of that, instead we opted for the A La Carte options, which are significantly more expensive(~$ 1000 per person) rather than the $ 575 and $ 700 options they have with the set. I would especially recommend the Poached Egg and Caviar decorated with salmon cubes, which was cooked to perfection, had this crispiness to it, and accompanied by the caviar it was definitely one of the best dishes there. Another dish worth to talk about are the wagyu beef cheeks, which were extremely tender and soft, definitely worth the try. Most of their main courses come with a side dish of buttery mashed potatoes, so it really fills you up. Service: 5⁄5 Service was top notch, exactly what you would expect from a 3 Michelin Star restaurant. The service was definitely catered to ensure each customer have the best experience possible, from helping us indecisive diners, to escorting us to the toilet, to checking up on our drinks. If you’re feeling like you can splurge on a meal, this will definitely be the place you would want to go, but be prepared to pay ~$ 1800 for dinner and at least $ 600 for lunch, just for food. It would be more if you ordered wine.

L’atelier De Joel Robuchon defines what a three michelin star restaurant, exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey is. Yes, it is a great place to discover French cuisine. Thank you Uncle Tony took us here to try out such an amazing delicious food. This was one of the big highlights of my trip in HongKong.

L’atelier De Joel Robuchon defines what a three michelin star restaurant, exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey is. Robuchon, Hong Kong is just spectacular in every area and portion of the dining. More than tasting the food, looking at it, smelling it, feeling it… Its much more closer to like enjoying a full night of a concert with a Beethoven symphony or a live classical music. Like a Bach Suite, each course of the meal has its own purpose, rhythm. Its alive and it wants to communicate with you. Absolutely fantastic and words cannot describe the beauty of the course. I also had one of the best foie gras dishes I’ve ever had in my life here. I would return here any day as matter of fact, every time I return to Hong Kong, I would like to dine here.

Best place for croissants in town. Mini cakes and pastries are great too! The place is small and simple — if you weren’t looking for it, you’d walk right past it, but this is one breakfast(or lunch) spot you don’t want to miss. Croissants and chocolate croissants are sublime. Their quiche, pastries and sandwiches are enough to satisfy. It’s a bit on the pricy side but well worth it. If you are on your way to/from the airport express in central, you can also stop by their IFC location right by the Four Seasons.

A mark of brilliant food artistry is when you present and prepare food in novel ways without sacrificing its taste. L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon excels at this. I’ve come here many times despite its price. The food here is phenomenal, both in taste and presentation. Joel Robuchon makes use of a lot of flavour-infused foams and small amuse-bouches to really delight the palate. Indeed, what I remember most are less the main dishes but the accompaniments to them. The sleek black interior of the restaurant also serves to highlight the exquisiteness of the experience and makes for great food photographs for those of you so inclined.

Five star mall food. We made a reservation for happy hours at Robuchon which supposedly would seat us at the terrace. We ended with a table at Le Salon since it was drizzling. Le Salon is at the corner of the mall by the way. The food was less than inspirational and at USD$ 100 a person, we had to deal with mosquitoes and the mall traffic. The salon was also short-staffed and the food sat at the corner while the waitress was busying taking orders from other patrons. Given my previous experience at other HK Michelin-star restaurants like Amber, I think it’s safer to stick with local eats.
