There are two locations in Sai wan and this one is bigger than the original location. The clay pot rice here is awesome — chicken or pork ribs.

Kwan Kee is known as THE place for the most authentic and delicious claypot rice. It’s also known for long lines, rude service and ridiculous wait for food. To avoid the wait, we went on a weekday, early at 6pm. The day was warm too which certainly helped. Maybe that explains why the service was even pleasant. Our rice came barely thirty minutes later, before we were half way through the other dishes. The black bean clams were juicy, but the salt and pepper bombay duck(in case you wonder that’s a fish) is slightly mushy. As for the rice, I don’t know if they were taken off the stove too early, or we should have keep the lid on a few more minutes, but it turned out too moist and not quite burnt enough at the bottom. Nonetheless the flavor was good, especially with the flavored soy sauce. I can’t quite call this the best claypot rice in my life, and the other dishes are just a-okay, but I’m willing to give it another try in case it’s an one off.
