So I decided to take a friend here for Sunday brunch as it was highly recommended by a mate at work. The selection of seafood was great, lobsters, oysters, mussels, crabs and different types of smoked salmon. There was also the hot grill which had roast beef, grilled lamb cutlets, roast chicken and other assorted meats. There is also a sushi section was was not as impressive as some of the other places I’ve been but it was ok. The desserts were not my cup of tea. They were not as interesting as other buffet restaurants that I’ve been to. Only dessert I thought was different was the freshly made churros with chocolate sauce. Drinks wise… The champagne was free flowing with other drinks available for you to mix on your own. But my friend wasn’t drinking much so we decided to give it a miss. I guess my complaint would be that I ordered a bottle of still water which didn’t turn up and also the waiter was very keen on taking my plate before I had even finished my meal. On one occasions he took my plate without asking and I had to ask for it back. Other places I’ve been to would wait until you walk away from your table to remove the finished plate… But that’s just my experience. Overall it was nice… Not the best I’ve been to in general but it is so far the best that I’ve been to in HK.

I’ve dined here many times over the years, even before Unilocal came to Hong Kong. I have to say it’s improved over the years. To give you a high level explanation of what they offer for breakfast: — American /western spread: eggs, bacon, ham, waffles. They have an egg/omelette station. — Asian spread: congee, soup, sushi, veggies, fried rice — fresh fruit — fresh fruit juices — yogurt and cereal — bread galore and pastries heaven(not gluten free) — gluten free bread and muffins(2 options each) Perhaps I am biased because the offer gluten free bread and muffins! This is the first time I’ve ever seen gluten free anything in Asia! So I had to try out the gluten free breads(they have something similar to sourdough and a blueberry bread). Let me tell you, the sourdough bread was good with the carved ham and the poached egg that I took apart from the Benedict. It was a good combo I made up myself. I wasn’t a fan of the hollandaise sauce that’s near the ham carving station. It’s on the side which is a good thing! Now, the blueberry bread was good with the raspberry butter. They also have blueberry butter! So as if I wasn’t on carb overload already… They also have peanut butter, Nutella, jams, and regular butter. I moved on to taste the green tea and chocolate gluten free muffins. They aren’t as good as the ones I’ve had at home in America, but it’s decent minus the fact that they fall apart quick — but that’s expected with anything gluten free. I like that they had green tea flavor. It is super Asian and unlike anything I’ve tried at home. It went well with the green tea I ordered! The green tea came in this fancy French press looking gadget. Cool, right? Definitely better delivery than hot water and a pouch of herbs. Now, what I also loved about their breakfast spread: Fried rice with diced foie grois!!! Ummmmm hello??? Genius. I could have devoured an entire bowl but I had already tasted all the other carbs. I think I need to run later today and tomorrow morning since I «carb loaded»! Super delish. Probably one of the best and unique fried rice offerings I’ve ever had in the world! The watermelon at the fruit station was super delish. All the fresh juices you can think of, they have. Of course, I reached for the mango juice. It was the best! Again, I’m biased because I love mango anything. They also have water flavored with mint and cucumber, which totally tastes like spa water. Of course all the décor and dining wear are swanky. Super cute and probably something I would have in my own home. Love the ambiance, the décor, the music, and the view of HK! The natural light and the large windows are amazing. The cost is $ 250HKD, which was included as part of my room rate at the W. Now, on the bottom of their receipt, they ask«Enjoy your meal? We would love for you to share your experience on Tripadvisor and OpenRice»!! You guys need to find a way for them to add Unilocal on their receipt!

One of the great HK buffet stations! The seafood selection is unparalleled — oysters, langoustines, lobsters, mussels, shrimps, squid salads, a sushi and sashimi bar across the way… Same goes for the desserts– Marc de champagne truffles, chocolates, cheesecake, panna cotta, Haagen daz ice cream mmm mmm! Mains may leave something to be desired-you get western and Chinese, including a noodle bar, but not much in between. The foie gras station is a nice compromise for the lack of variety here. Wagyu rump steak and various hams also happily adorn the buffet slates. Lovely décor and ambience would make this a great place for dates or business lunch/dinner.

When it comes to a nice Sunday brunch or seafood buffet, many Hongkonger would say JW Marriott, Shangri-La, or Intercontinental. The Kitchen @ W Hong Kong is great alternative on the Kowloon side. The Kitchen much like the W Hotel used contemporary design, the entire restaurant is nicely decorated and with an amazing panoramic view of the Victoria Harbour and West Kowloon waterfront. Kitchen was known for its amazing selection on Hams and Cheeses, but you have to check out the selection of Seafood(Lobster, Oyster, Crab Legs & more) and Dessert. There is limited selection of sushi and sashimi, shell fish, foie gras. The meat(Roasted Beef, Pork, Chinese BBQ) in general is well cooked, but honestly not as good as their seafood. Overall, we enjoyed the Kitchen every time we wanted a nice buffet with sea view on the Kowloon side.
