I have been a loyal patron of Kaya for years(following them from when they were located just across from Times Square to their new home at Midtown), but the past few times I’ve visited, there’s been a decrease in the quality of food. Don’t get me wrong, the marinated beef short ribs are still tasty, but I suspect a change in the preparation has resulted in meat that just isn’t as flavorful. A lot of the servers I used to know have left, and although the new location is a lot bigger, good luck trying to get the attention of staff if you’re seated in one of the back rooms – no one ever walks by!

Kaya was recently relocated here to Midtown in the summer from its previous location opposite to Times Square. It has always been my go-to Korean barbecue restaurant in Causeway Bay especially with big groups. Compared to many other Korean restaurants in the area that are often packed and hard to book, Kaya is on the higher end, perhaps that’s why you get the better ambience and service that you pay for. All of the dishes we tried were delicious. It’s always good to bring a group here so that you can try many dishes. Start with some appetizers like the Korean raw beef(friends who have eaten Korean food with me know that I cannot miss this one.) Then order some meat for barbecue and finish with some cooked dishes like the galbi jim, which is like a sweet beef brisket stew. Another thumbs up for this place is that you don’t smell like Korean meat after you leave the restaurant! Isn’t that just neat?
