Hard Rock Cafe

After arriving in Hong Kong I decided to got to the Hard Rock Café as it was familiar food.
The food was tasty and the staff were friendly. I would recommend it. It is in a bit of a dodgy area tho… And the wifi did not work for me.
But there was great live music as you would expect in a «rock» café.
Overall I would go there again and I recommend it.

I make it a point to visit HRC when I travel. Some people get thimbles, spoons, postcards, or whatever. I like to go to HRC. In the who knows how many I’ve been to, this one is just okay. Some are better than others. This is on the lower end. It may be because I was in HK and enjoying so much amazing food from the local places, this just didn’t hit the mark.
Everyone here speaks English, which you’d expect. Not every place in HK, since the departure of the Brits, has English speakers. If you’re looking for a little bit of comfort and familiarity, you’ll like it. Although smaller than most HRC I’ve been to, by HK standards, it’s fairly spacious.

Das Hard Rock Café in Hong Kong unterscheidet sich eigentlich kaum von anderen auf der Welt. Es ist nicht sehr gross hat aber eine Livebühne mit regelmässigen Konzerten und es hat auch eine Aussenbestuhlung direkt neben der Strasse. Der Service war aufmerksam, die Karte ergänzt mit lokalen Burgern war grösser als gewohnt und das Essen war gut. Leider gab es einige lautstarke Amerikaner im Lokal, die die typische Hard Rock Café Atmosphäre empfindlich störten. Na ja, was soll ich noch mehr sagen…

I stopped by to pick up a pin to add to my collection. The shop is located on the left of the restaurant and is rather small. Luckily, it was empty when we arrived (Thursday afternoon). The staff was very friendly and everyone spoke English. I looked at their selection of pins at the register and made my choice within a few minutes. They take credit card and it gave me an option of paying in USD or HKD (the credit card processing company includes a fee in your total for currency conversion). FYI, pins are approximately 20 USD (168 HKD). Everything went smoothly and I was in and out within 10 – 15 minutes.

We make it a point to stop at the local Hard Rock wherever we go around the world. They are virtually everywhere, even in Fiji which we found pleasantly surprising. The HK location is a bit hard to find as it is on a small, less travelled street around SOHO. The outdoor seating was a nice touch and it was perfect for having a very expensive Stella Artois.

Girls night out for celebrating my friend graduation from the policy academy. As we have missed the happy hour, we were told about the shooters promotion. HKD400 for 6 shots which is tempting but so bad this is a Tuesday night. My graduating friend ordered a Keeper drink which the glass can be taken away. We all order cocktails for the celebration. Drinks are okay, I think they are a bit too sweet. The platter with potato skin, buffalo chicken etc. got a good presentation and is quite typical. The ribs are a bit hard. The mini burger is good. The music is great too but after 9:30pm there are a few mainland travel tours coming in… mmmm…

My bucket list is to attempt to visit all HRC locations! So, I’m now crossing off Hong Kong location!
One of the best HRC I’ve been to thus far because the band was playing live and the music was awesome! Ordered the usual Legendary Burger and was happy to taste the consistency that I’ve grown accustomed to having. Friendly staff and great location.

The thing that keeps me coming back here time and time again is just one little, beautifully delicious dish — their Mac ‘N’ Cheese. Do you know how difficult it is to find a good mac ‘n’ cheese dish in Hong Kong? and it’s not one of those dishes you can just rustle up at home, like spaghetti bolognaise. Well… that could just be me and more poor cooking skill I suppose. The creamy goodness that I know is so bad for me tastes like heaven. Good thing I’m not gluten/​lactose intolerant! I’ve never even bothered trying their other dishes
Back to Hard Rock. If I had to choose I’d go there for dinner, for obvious reason, but I’ve also been there after the kitchens have closed. They have a talented live band shaking out some popular tunes and a interesting choice of cocktails. I was persuaded to try the Hurricane. Just the name makes me thing ‘hang over’. I tried it anyway and found it to be quite tasty in fact. It was a tad be pricey, somewhere around $ 90 (I’m used to a $ 50 beer, remember), but it was so potent that I didn’t need to drink for the next hour or so. In front of the stage is a small dance floor that I’ve never been own, and outside is an outdoor section with tables and chairs. Sitting outside, at the top of LKF, is the perfect place to be if you want to scout where the night is headed.
One thing I do recall vividly about the place is the bathroom. There was a urinal and the toilet… but there was no coverage of the toilet, it was just, sort of. there, out in the open, free for all to see. I thought that was quite odd. I really hope they changed that since then!
In short — Mac ‘n’ Cheer; great! 1 Hurricane; good, 2 Hurricanes; great, 3 Hurricanes; Worst night ever!
