You know a place is going to be good when you walk in the door and there are nothing but locals chowing down. A nice pot of jasmine tea was presented along with a menu in English soon after I was seated. I opted for the roast goose and rice lunch. I like fat. In fact, I have a cookbook that is simply titled«Fat». Our brains are made of fat, so I think I’m feeding my brain :) Plenty of flavorful fat, meat, and crunchy skin! Loved it.

Came here for dim sum with a bunch of friends. This is definitely an authentic HK experience. Not much has changed, from the service to the restaurant itself. We were seated upstairs where the ceilings are extremely low, so if you are 6′ tall, you might bump your head if you’re not careful in some areas. The food was okay dim sum fare with a few specialties such as «leng yu» balls and some dim sum with«leng yu» — a type of fish. Don’t expect much service here… if you want your teapot refilled, best to yell out and get their attention. They were pretty obliging though when my friend brought cake for my birthday to the lunch. They provided us with plates and forks for both cakes. On the plus side, it is reasonably priced. We went on the weekend and heard mahjong going off in the next room. In the old days, people would go to a restaurant to play mahjong. Few restaurants still offer this service, so at Fung Shing, it’s nice to know that this traditional still exists.

Colleague stays at crowne plaza cwb right next door, so Fung Shing is the best place for breakfast at 7am within a short walking distance. Traditional Cantonese dim sum, not the fusion one, is served in good quality. E.g. Chinese sausage bun(臘腸卷) is a traditional dim sum that one cannot find it everywhere now. If one happens to be around the area and would like to yum cha, Fung Shing is one of the go-to places.
