Just like any local café. Fills the gap, if you want a home from home breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. Go for the sets which are better value. Most single people living in Hong Kong do not cook themselves, and would often dine out, but can be expensive to eat out at restaurants all the time, so this is a good option for them. You get waitress service, the food is good and wholesome and fresh. You really cannot go wrong here! This was my local for breakfast every morning while staying in Whampoa Gardens.
The only drawback is that as it is mainly for the locals, there is no English menu or even photos, although there are a few dishes shown on the windows outside. So it is quite an adventure to try and order! For instance, if you want a cup of tea, you have to say whether you want it hot or cold, with milk or no milk, with lemon or without, etc. I tried to order a slice of buttered toast with a hot drink (a breakfast set), and I was not aware that this comes in many variations: a slice of toast with lumps of butter in between the toast; or thick, which is double thickness. So it is quite hilarious, depending on which waitress you ordered from, what you will end up getting.
Payment is made on the way out, at the till by the door, taking the slip of paper which has your order written on it.
One interesting thing to note at local cafes and restaurants is the shrine in one corner of the restaurant which has a General standing guard to ward of bad luck, bad customers, theft and fights.
