This is my go-to restaurant when I’m in Hunghom and at a lost on what to eat. We usually come here for either their lunch or afternoon tea sets. Drink, soup, and dish of your choice. Tasty, cheap. What more can I ask for?

Whenever I’m around Hung Hom, I usually skip eating in Whampoa and head on over to Ah Tak Kitchen. Prices are moderately competitive for the size of the dishes. It’s like Café de Coral pre-2005 when their dishes were much bigger to accommodate the proletariat class of Hong Kong. Anyway, I digress. The ambiance is akin to a homey Chinese restaurant, casual yet modern. The menus are offered in Chinese and English. There are some staple Hong Kong dishes such as sweet and sour pork, Western-influenced dishes that include mixed grill and tomato spaghetti, and also Indonesian cuisine with satay beef and pork. Like any good Chinese restaurant, they offer unlimited hot water and tea refills. The drinks are nothing to write home about so I suggest spending your money on food rather than drinks. They also have daily set menus for those craving something they haven’t tasted before. I for one prefer the fried noodle dishes as they don’t skimp on the ingredients here and it really comes out piping hot and full of flavor. If you find yourself in the Hung Hom area, definitely hit up this feel-at-home joint that serves great Chinese food at a price that can’t be beat. Watch out for yum cha hour though, as with typical Chinese restaurants, it gets packed during this time.
