If i were in california I would give them 1 – 2 stars but seeing how I am in Hong Kong I cannot use the 2 to compare. I have eaten at cali-mex multiple times either for something to kill my craving for california mexican or just to have to crush the pending hangover i will have the next morning. Overall it’s ok. A few highlights –Freshly made tortillas –Jarritos(albeit overpriced but what isn’t in HK) –home made salsa A few low lights –Beef is a bit dry at times –Not a huge choice of beans(Wish they had pinto) –Guac extra is way overpriced –Rice is too hard and needs more flavor –Burrito a bit on the small side for what they want to call california burritos –Charge extra for salsa(ridiculous) I have mainly had their burritos and burrito bowls Quesadillas were very«meh» Burritos were not bad except for the hard rice. Needs extra salsa but will have to pay Burrito bowl is the best thing in my opinion. Get tons of stuff and you get nice and stuffed feeling satisfied. Which helps with the next day I would say give it a try if you have not.

First trip wasn’t super impressed but decided to give it a second try. Had the taco bowl and while I love an edible bowl, the beef and veggies inside were uninspiring. Not bad, but not impressive either. The flavour of the meat(I’d tried the pork on the first visit) was thin — it could use a longer marinade — and the veggies are mostly iceberg lettuce with skimpy amounts of pico for flavour. Decided that there won’t be a third trip back for me.
