I reviewed the Canteen at the Princes Building. Consultant with other Maxims’ Canteen fast food places, you can get out of here for about HK$ 50. Cleaner, pricier & portions a little smaller than Café de Carol & Fairwood in town.

What can I say about this canteen… it’s love and hatred. I’ve had good and bad experiences but at the end of the day… it’s a working place canteen. You go there for a lunch break when at work and you would never ever go on a weekend. It’s the same story with the nearby Fairwood(although for that one, I’m not coming back ever again. Sorry but I ended up loathing it. So even if it was the only place to eat in a deserted island, I would still go fishing and hunting myself). Foodwise is okay: I’ve always gone for the black pepper chicken grilled with rice(I ate the chicken only on one occasion, and on the others I had the chicken with no sauce. The sauce didn’t agree with my stomach previously). My colleagues had had the pasta with(some kind of) fish and they really liked it. And it’s cheap, close to Fairwood. But it’s a little nicer. It’s located in an opened space in the middle of Admiralty Centre and you don’t feel as cramped. However you may not be able to find a place close to your workmates if you go there at peak times(you guessed well, lunch). The food ordering and picking works quite smoothly and they are quick: after ordering, you queue at the kitchen lane and pick up your tray. For me this is a good thing as I can get to tell them to not to add the sauce — that doesn’t happen at Fairwood: you don’t have time to talk there. You take your tray and go eating woman, no time, no time! In a hurry at lunch time but you want to eat something fairly good and cheap??? Canteen may be your place that day. But just, don’t overdose on this place. It’s not worth it.
