Miércoles Po’

Whether I can fully recall or not, my adventures at Miércoles Po’ definitely left a mark on my experience in Santiago.
WARNING: Miércoles Po’ has a reputation to be a hotspot for pickpocketters looking to snatch items from drunk gringas (me included) and as previously warned by a fellow Unilocaler, a place where a crazy amount of Chilean men pay to «get to know» foreigners (again, me included).
The parties, or «carretes» are hosted every Wednesday (miércoles) at various venues throughout the city and are continuously packed with both locals and foreigners around the typical college age (19 – 24). Details for each event are released each week via their Facebook page.
Drinks are moderately priced, however I definitely advise to pregame as selection is minimal and bar service wait time can be extremely long.
It’s definitely a dance club atmosphere and you shouldn’t show up if you don’t like to dance! The playlists range from current regaetton hits and house to occasional US rap and hip hop.

Ser un extranjero en Santiago siempre me permitió estar rodeado de otros extranjeros, no se por que, no se por que en su mayoría mis amistades suelen ser extranjeras, no se confundan me encanta la gente chilena pero simplemente en mi caso las cosas se dieron asi.
Es por este entorno que siempre asisto a eventos en donde extranjeros suelen asistir y entre ellos uno de los mejores es el «Miercoles’po «no se a quien se le ocurrió reunir a un montón de extranjeros un miércoles y ofrecerles un buen carrete a la chilena a mitad de semana.
Asi que ya sabes, si no te importa llegar con caña a la pega el jueves, y quieres pasar un buen rato y conocer gente de otros países para compartir ideologías y culturas este lugar es ideal.
Los tragos son económicos y cabezones, aunque debes esperar mucho ya que las barras estas siempre colapsadas, trata de llegar temprano por que el carrete termina cerca de las 3 de la mañana.

Oh, Miercolespo. We have had some good times together — your parties that allow us foreigners to get to know Chile through events like these are appreciated. I have been to most of the night clubs I know thanks to you.
I do have to do my do diligence and warn my fellow gringas about the crazy amount of Chilean men who pay to get in so they can «get to know» foreigners. However, if you are into that kind of thing and looking to get to know more people, this party is for you.
This event takes place every Wednesday (except for holidays), and usually changes location (the idea was to make it harder for those not in the know to get in) however, over the years it has grown super popular for both foreigners and nationals alike.
The parties are always over the top fun — a lot like US college parties but that you can legally drink (probably one of the factors why it is so outrageous fun). They have themed parties (only something us gringos do) but it has been brought here and now a lot of people take part.
Overall, good time had by all! Plus you get promos and sometimes even free drinks when with this group. Check out their FB group for promos and their latest event.

Miercoles po es un hito. Son las fiestas míticas extranjeras que ocurren, como su nombre lo indica, todos los miércoles del año en el Club Chocolate.
Conocí este mundo cuando comencé a trabajar en hostales y me rodeaba de extranjeros, productoras y emprendedores que comenzaron a crear una «industria» en torno a la entretención de este público objetivo.
Debo decir que una de las mejores invenciones fue esta clase de fiesta. La idea siempre fue crear un espacio para que los extranjeros residentes, estudiantes o trabajadores que estaba en Chile ya sea de paso o radicados, tuvieran un lugar donde se sintieran como en casa.
He ido muchas veces y siempre lo paso bien, los tickets no son muy baratos, pero incluye un gran equipo de staff que puede ayudarte frente a cualquier eventualidad, descuentos en tragos de la disco y por supuesto la entrada gratis de la misma.
Por si fuera poco, también hay paseos a la nieve, playa, y para las fechas importantes como Halloween o San Patricio el lugar de la fiesta cambia por algo más «elevado» como el Club Hípico o el Castillo Hidalgo en el Cerro Santa Lucia.
