Hot and Spicy House

We had delivery. The food came pretty fast. The order was complete. All the food was nice and hot and freshly prepared. We have never gone to the restaurant so i can’t speak on that. We have always ordered take out and never disappointed.

Food here always fresh, cheap, and delicious. Give this place a try if ur contemplating between it and sun Hong. Friendly but quiet servers

I’ve been meaning to come into this restaurant since it opened but Sun Hong always beckoned me. But today I finally decided to and I was surprised by the interior. It was clean, simple, and not cluttered. I liked it a lot.
I ordered the Shrimp Wonton Noodles (they say it differently on the menu though, I forget) and it was $ 6.95 which is the same price for Roasted Duck and Wonton Noodles at Sun Hong. I was given a massive bowl of wonton noodles that was basically for two people and SO many shrimp wontons. I ate half the bowl and I was already full but didn’t want to waste anything so I tried to eat what I could. I finished the noodles and two shrimp wontons. Although the soup could use a bit more flavour.
I also saw other dishes they served to customers and they were VERY generous.
Definitely coming back here again!

Grand Opening of yet another Chinese restaurant.
Hot and Spicy House is a new Chinese restaurant that opens up right next to Sun Hong. Based on the name, I thought we would be getting a new Sichuan restaurant serving up spicy dishes, but its serving up some wonderful Chinese food. (Not Chinese Takeeout). The place itself is very clean, very new, and the wait staff is very attentive and nice. The menu is massive and offers a wide variety of nice authentic dishes (though it doesn’t offer Chinese BBQ, so Sun Hong is safe in that regards).
We wanted to give this place a proper try, so we ordered three dishes. We ordered Honey Walnut Shrimp in Bird’s Nest, Seafood in Spicy Salt, and Emperor’s Beef and Chicken. Prices are on par with places around Windsor… and some dishes are actually a bit cheaper.
The Honey Walnut Shrimp ($ 14.95) was wonderful. It was a great looking dish too as the bird’s nest (made of fried taro or noodles) acts as a bowl and was surrounded by a moat of broccoli and candied walnuts sprinkled with sesame seeds. There was a heaping helpful of shrimp covered in the mayonaise based sauce with a bit of creamy and sweet undertones. The shrimp were plump and battered very lightly. It was an incredible dish and the shrimp was incredible.
The Seafood in Spicy Salt ($ 13.95) is a popular dish that I always seem to get. Lightly battered shrimp, scallops, and squid deep fried and coated in salt and pepper. It’s tossed with onions, bell peppers, and served on a bed of crisp noodles. I loved the portion size as they really piled on the seafood. The shrimp and scallops were great, but I thought the squid was so bland. It was odd because of how good the others were. Either way, it was a great dish.
The Emperor’s Beef and Chicken ($ 13.95) comes sizzling on hot plate when coming to your table. They were skewers of sliced beef and chicken together. (The slices are hugging each other on the same skewer). It was an interesting way to serve it. Those skewers come drenched in a rich, savory and sweet sauce. I thought there was a bit too much sauce, but I still really liked the dish. Definitely worth a try.
This new place solidifies that little section of Windsor as its mini Chinatown. The food, prices, and staff are something that I think will definitely stick around Windsor for a long time. I love Sun Hong too so I will split my time between these two places for a while. This is more of a dinner place and I loved the various items being offered. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes.
