Zogs Dogs

One of my go to places in Whistler! It’s a bit pricey for hot dogs, but that’s kind of going to be the case no matter where you go in Whistler.
I always get the Jalapeño and Cheese smokie, which I absolutely love! You can add cooked onions for free, but a lot of people don’t realize this since the onions are kept in a large hot wok. Take advantage of them!
I brought my friends here last weekend, and they opted for the chili dog and the zog’s dog, which they said were good, but weren’t wowed by them unfortunately. I’ve always gotten the smokie since it’s too hard to pass up, so I can’t say personally, but just wanted to give that note as a heads up to those interested.
They used to have slushies which were perfect in the hot weather, but unfortunately no longer carry it :(

I’ve ordered some late night munchies from Zog’s on my trips up to Whistler and it was no different this last trip up. After a long night of drinking, my fiancé and I visited Zog’s on our way back to our hotel and ordered the classic poutine and a hot dog.
The hot dog was grilled fresh and was big and juicy. The poutine comes with thick cut fries, cheese curds and a generous helping of gravy. We waited til we got back to our hotel (which was nearby) before we ate our late night meal. The chees curds were melting and the poutine was great. It definitely hit the spot for us.

Location is pretty good but that’s about it

They definitely draw you in with the smell of cooking onions. Unfortunately that’s the only thing good about this place. It pains me to write a bad review for any business but this company earned it. You can tell the kids who work here could care less about anyone but themselves and their circle. They are short and rude with every customer. The condiment bar was a complete mess and it was only after we ate that we noticed how dirty the place actually was. We felt sick the rest of the day.

This hot dog stand is conveniently located near the Whistler gondolas, so we ordered a few dogs before we hit the slopes. I was the only one that didn’t order a regular hot dog, so mine took a while to make. I had the bratwurst pork sausage and added a bunch of toppings. They also have a huge skillet of grilled onions I think you could ask for… My sausage was really juicy and tasty! I think I’ll try a beaver tail next time, since they are known for that!

This place is indeed 3.5 stars. We had the Canadian Classic (i.e. regular poutine with sausage) for $ 8.50. The poutine was OK with the gravy being a little too thick and fries overly salty and over cooked. BUT, if you’re snowboarding/​skiiing and need a quick and inexpensive bite to eat that will keep you full, this place is perfect. It is right near the lifts to Blackcomb and Whistler Mountain which also provides the place with a nice view. It’s patio only.
Go for: a quick inexpensive bite before heading back up the mountain, great view
Don’t go for: great poutine, warm seating

Open late… Ran out of chilli /​spaghetti sauce which is their signature topping for their dogs. Put away the relish and the sauerkraut while they were still busy with customers and didn’t offer to pull it back out upon request. Service wasn’t good. A bit rude actually. All in all, awesome concept, but less than awesome experience.

Just left this establishment and have to write a review ASAP. I have never been in a situation where I have been a victim of blatant racism and I cannot believe that this is what would occur on a weekend excursion to whistler village. I placed my order with a young guy at the counter and proceeded to wait. When I got my order, the following word was written inside the box «mex». I asked why that was the identifier to pick up my order and the man at the counter told me that «I was Mexican» and this was my order. I am unsure why that would be the way to indicate that my order was ready to pick up… but I cannot believe that this establishment would think that was an appropriate way to do so. I will not be frequenting this place anymore.

The staff here was extremely rude to their customers. Being my first time, this was such a turn off.

We visited Zog’s for our first lunch in Whistler. And it was our first time trying Poutine!
I had two dogs — one was the spicy Jalapeño dog on a bun with mustard, the other was the Canadian dog served on a pile of Poutine with cheese curds and gravy!
The Jalapeño dog had a nice flavor to it and was my favorite of the two dogs. The Canadian dog was a bit on the bland side.
I enjoyed the Poutine — pretty yummy! The gravy was really good! I could not finish the whole thing tho.
My second visit I also hit the place for lunch. I ordered the Chili dog. The dog was good, but the Chili was somewhat disappointing.
Zogs is a food stand, so there is no indoor seating. There are quite a few tables associated with their food stand, and a few picnic tables scattered around the Square.
Worth a try when visiting Whistler.

good poutine. the ‘asian style’ sounded weird but the two of us inhaled it. it’s fries sprinkled with cheese curds and poured with half regular gravy + half spaghetti sauce.
Zogs has a giant wok constantly cooking sliced onions which become delicious caramelized onions. We scooped some on top of the poutine, hit it with some salt, and it was good.

I love this place! Everything on the menu is worth trying; however, I suggest either the poutine with the bratwurst on it or getting a bratwurst dog and having it topped with cheese curds, gravy, and grilled onions. After a long day of shredding it up on the mountain, it’s the perfect carb buffet!

What a yummy treat after a long day on the mountain! Big pile of French fries topped with heavy gravy and cheese curds. And a sausage! That’s the Canadian poutine– enough to fill the 2 of us for a late lunch. Really wanted to try it with spaghetti sauce but did not have the stomach for it
Must try when you’re in the village!

The aroma of grilled onions lures you in as you try to walk by. A friend brought us to Zogs and after we tried it, we were hooked! We look forward to our Canadian poutine every time we are here. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, try the cinnamon sugar beavertails. All seating is outdoors but that’s ok since your food will be piping hot.

Watch out, Zogs is cash only!
A great place for a quick bite with outdoor seating. Can’t go wrong with the dogs, burgers, and poutine. The giant pan of grilled onions help too.

La Poutine est excellente. Les frites sont congelées mais de bonne qualité. La sauce est ajoutée en quantité et elle est excellente. Le fromage est bon. Le service est rapide et courtois.

Beavertails! Very good & huge… enough for 2 to share.
Tasted like a Churro, but had a very crispy & crumbly texture. You will definitely get crumbs all over your face & clothes… worth it though!

All you need is POUTINE.
Highly recommended:
Traditional poutine and the ”italian” poutine (meat sauce, curds cheese, fries).
Of course you must try a dawgs!
I love hot-​dog stand.
Next to the mountain you can stuff your face and can enjoyed the view as well.

I must say this place is ten times better when it’s cold out. During summer, pouting doesn’t seem to taste the same.
But they have decent poutine although their hot dog isn’t the best

Poutine PLUS hot dog??? What a genius combination! So Canadian. The gravy on the hot dog was actually pretty tasty. And the cheese curds weren’t so bad with the hot dog either. People put cheese on chili cheese dogs so why not cheese curds? Next to where they hand you your hot dog, there’s also this giant pan with grilled onions that you can put on as a topping yourself. Grilled onions are so yummy. There’s also a condiment station as well. Grab yourself some napkins and a fork — eating this gets messy! CASH ONLY! Conveniently located at the base.
They also have hot chocolate here too! It’s not a snow day without hot chocolate.
There’s no indoor seating, just tables outside, so if it’s cold, you might want to take it back to the hotel or find someplace inside to eat!
Next time, I want to try their signature Zog Dog, which is spaghetti sauce on top of the dog. Sounds so interesting!

Zog Dogs is an open air hot dog joint that specializes in hot dogs and poutine. They serve up food near the base of the Whistler Mountain and is a popular place to unwind.
My Overall Rating — 1 ½ Stars (Atmosphere, Food)
Atmosphere — Being an outdoor hotdog stand, the aroma from their hot dogs and especially their grilled onions is spectacular, and was enough to draw me in. However, there is VERY limited seating, and it seems only about 50% of the seats are taken by people who are just waiting around. Unfortunately, the staff can’t do much to police things, so be warned you may not get a seat. ½ Star.
Service –You order at a window and proceed to wait for you order. The problem is, when the line queues up it becomes so unorganized. Luckily I got my order ok, but I witnessed several people getting other people’s orders. Also, it’s cash only, so bring Canadian dollars. If you don’t, they charge about 10% more (usually add 1 dollar) for US. That’s not a big deal, but their method of getting orders out can be an issue, especially if you’re not assertive and someone takes your order. No Stars.
Food — Their hot dogs are plump and juicy, and their fries are thick cut. However, I highly recommend you get fries with chili or gravy (poutine). Their fries are meant to hold up to the chili/​poutine, so if you get them plain they will get cold quickly and dry out. The grilled onions are a great touch to a plain dog. I hot dog and an order of poutine will make anyone full. But it’s not cheap, so expect a combo to be more than $ 10 a person. 1 Star.
Will I Return? — No. The hot dogs are quality, but not worth it to fight for a table or your order when there is a big crowd. I ate here because of the smell of the onions, thinking it would be a quick and cheap meal, but it wasn’t. If you like hot dogs or poutine, by all means try it out! As for me, once is more than enough. No Stars.

1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm.
1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point.
2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food.
1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return.
