Really good halibut. The poutine could have used some more cheese, but the portion was so large(and cheap for such a huge plate), that it wasn’t a big deal. The inside is a bit uninviting, but not terrible. Worth the short drive from downtown Victoria.

After I was finished shopping at the nearby Mayfair Shopping Centre, I needed some lunch. I walked over to Salty’s Fish & Chips, located at the Douglas Centre strip plaza, which has a take away counter and dine-in seating. They offer authentic English style fish & chips dinners & family paks(with slaw) plus fried seafood(prawns, scallops, oysters, popcorn shrimp), chicken strips, meat pies clam chowder, sides, frozen lemonade, and pop(Pepsi products). The fish choices offered are Atlantic cod, Pacific salmon, Alaskan halibut, and Atlantic haddock. I had the 1 piece Fried Pacific Salmon & Chips($ 8.49), which were pretty good with malt vinegar. The portion was modest. The salmon was tender and flaky covered in a crispy batter not too greasy. The chips(fries) were fried golden brown, soft firm potatoey texture. It was definitely worth the trek for this treat(fried salmon) from Downtown.
