Great place! Just like Murchies, which is also a great place. Love being able to look at all the food behind the glass with the price right there on it. And prices are very reasonable! Will go here every time I’m in Victoria :-)

Cool atmosphere, personal staff and beautiful food! Each time I go in I take extra moments to just eye all the baked goods, they are works of art! I really enjoy the beverages too. This is a great jack of all trades place with affordable prices, there’s something for everyone. Despite the good food, good drinks, good service, and cool atmosphere, I really love that they are open later than most restaurants. I think that really shows character and is so perfect for night owls in a sleeping city!

I ordered a pecan caramel cheesecake tart and wow was that a major let-down. It tasted like nothing; it had the texture of a cheesecake but had no flavor. I was so disappointed. A cheesecake should be sweet but it was like they had just missed a major ingredient in the assembly. Because this was my first time I couldn’t say if it was just a bad batch or a bad recipe but I don’t plan on researching and spending more money to find out. And to beat the signage on the building is hard to read because the«Q» and«V» are melded together so it was also difficult to determine the actual name and if that was indeed the bakery we were looking for. Overall it was just awful, won’t be returning.

I just had a vegan wrap from QV Bakery bought at UVic. The wrap itself was appreciated — a piece of lettuce — and the tiny container of some kind of peanut sauce, but inside the wrap was only some kind of thin, dry noodles and a few grated carrots. How disappointly bland. They couldn’t put SOMETHING decent and healthy inside instead of dried up white noodles? Quinoa? A quinoa patty? A few more veggies? Something with taste? I’ll never buy one of these again.

Good food under $ 5 and an little more but they were homely. Can’t wait for rootbeer cheesecake(I read it from here– Unilocal) instead, we had coca cola cheesecake. One bite, it was coca cola but it was lingering the cheesecake. Wow! It was sensible beyond description. Try it! if you go to Victoria, stop by in QV café bakery, you will not disappointed

Okay so everyone loves this place — but maybe I haven’t eaten the right stuff here because honestly I don’t know what the big deal is! I’ve had ho hum apple pie and a pretty basic cheese cake, nothing all that different from what you could buy frozen. The staff are always nice and the place is kind of cute(even with all the«if you’re not a customer get outta here» signs) but I’m still not sure why it’s such a popular spot.

Ordered a cake in advance for my Mom’s Birthday(see photo) because I was coming in on the Victoria Clipper from Seattle late on Saturday night … a bit later than I thought. Arrived at QV Café & Bakery at 7:00 p.m. and they were gracious about me being late. The gorgeous cake was absolutely perfect — delicious and moist even on the third day afterwards, with rich icing that was flavorful but not«turn your teeth on edge» sweet with sugar — just superb! Everyone was impressed and delighted, especially Mom, and when I posted the photo on Facebook a friend shared a picture of Mom’s birthday cake simply because it was so gorgeous. The people at QV are exceptionally nice and friendly; it’s a charming café reminiscent of many bustling cafes in San Francisco(where I’m from) with the kind of ambiance that made me want to sit and savor the place as well as the food. So grateful to QV Bakery since they made me feel so proud of my contribution to Mom’s Birthday celebration!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside(almost thought it was a Chinese restaurant, since Chinatown is across the street), but it has a very funky(as other reviewers are using), spacious atmosphere. Lots of food selections(pastas, sandwiches, calzones, cakes, etc) and very decently priced compared to other cafes in the city. Lots of love in the food and drinks, many unique options, and the folks were always on hand to make suggestions. This place reminds me of comfort cafes(what I call them at least) near my university.

We always land at QV Café when we are too hungry to go searching for food. QV always delivers. Today, we wandered into Canoe hoping for a quick burger. We left when we saw that their basic hamburger was $ 16!!! We quickly skipped over to the QV Café. At QV, we always find a wide variety of dishes, all prepared to look and taste like home cooking. After sampling lots of things from the display case, we can vouch for the $ 5 breakfast, the great burgers, and, perhaps most important, the Shepherd’s Pie, my husband’s hands down favorite. The dessert case is always full and tempting. Great berry cobblers, chocolate cakes, homey cookies, and other treats. Best of all, the employees are friendly, polite, and un-hurried. QV never disappoints.

GAZILLION varieties of milkshakes! shall I say more… honestly where on earth do you get chai milkshake or ok rootbear even though I don’t like the latter one. coffee milkshake was also pretty amazing! the nanaimo bars not that impressive but everything else was yummy. make sure to come here before 11am to get breakfast special of the day. other than that this place has a huge open space with colourful chairs and some cozy funky feeling about it and super friendly staff. cheap prices too and yeah did I mention huge variety of milkshakes… ah milkshakes…

My friends and I come here all the time after school(Camosun College) for lunch or a snack. Their mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches and milkshakes are to die for. Service is really quick and the food itself is really affordable. Not to mention it’s right in the middle of the downtown core, right across the street from the gates of Chinatown. I would really recommend it to tourists who are looking for a bite to eat while sight seeing. The pricing is the perfect fit for any budget. Especially their breakfast menu! It’s so cheap that it’s worth getting there before 11AM for. They also have free wifi which makes it a great place for students to eat, study and work. Parking is really cramped though.

We give the Coconut Cream Pie FIVESTARS. It was the BESTCCP we EVER had. Factor in the service, take away ONESTAR. The guy behind the counter probably would not have messed up our coffee order if he didn’t have to stop and text his buddy before getting us our coffee. Great prices. Will come back for more Coconut Cream Pie and to try other baked goods.

QV’s is my favourite place to eat in Victoria. Period. Their food is cheap and delicious, the décor is funky and charming, and in the summertime they open the would-be garage doors and let the sun and air in. It was better when they were 24 hours, but they are still open pretty late in the Summer. The perfect pre/during/after club coffee/food location!

You know what? I’m gonna write nice things about this place AGAIN. I want an ROTD for this one in Victoria’s Unilocal even though I live in Seattle. There. I said it. I love this place. Everytime I go in there with Beth we talk with their employees like they’re friends of ours and their chocolate cake is FUCKINGKILLER. I bet I can’t get an ROTD on a review that has curse words but I felt like cursing right then.

How have I not reviewed QV yet? I am an a-hole. an A-HOLE, I tell you. Located kitty-corner(or «catty-corner», if you’re my weird-ass boyfriend) from the Harmonious Gates to Victoria’s small-yet-awesome Chinatown, QV Café and Bakery beckons like a beacon of goodness. Want something savoury? They have pizza and pasta and quiche and salads and the like. All good. Want something sweet? I recently had an amazing cupcake the size of my head(unless my trainer asks). They have good cheesecake, rice krispie treats, pie, cookies. My boyfriend had banana cream pie and it had real banana and was fantastic. Hot drink? Covered. Delicious coffee, hot chocolate, espresso, teas. Cold drink? Um… I’m sure they have it. Okay, I don’t actually know, but I’d put money on it. Music? Jukebox. Late hours? Check. Space? Check. Always somewhere to sit. Good staff? Check. Friendly, knowledgeable, hipster kids ACTUALLY nerdy enough(instead of «ironic nerdy») to be genuinely friendly, nice, decent human beings. Cool space, colourful, in a converted gas station, with a mural on the wall outside? Check. I love it here.

When I went to Victoria, BC for Spring Break, I went to QV Bakery + Café that’s really close to Chinatown and… I felt like trying something new because you know I love being adventurous… So… I tried their ROOTBEERCHEESECAKE… and I was worried that it would taste really weird but no… it was heavenly! I loved it sooo much:) Five stars because the cheesecake was very smooth and it wasn’t sugary which I liked. I wish I took a picture! I really like how this café has this FUNKY vibe to it. very playful and fun and its a very casual place with an edge. Great staff! I hope I can find a dessert place this good in Los Angeles that serves something AWESOME like ROOTBEERCHEESECAKE! WILLRETURN to this great place. I am not associated with them in any way but I think you should give tips. They make really good stuff! PS: In Los Angeles, my favorite place to get cake is Cake House in Sawtelle, but QV bakery offers more variety and original stuff. So, Cake House in LA and QV Bakery in Victoria, BC.

QV’s is probably my favorite hangout in Victoria, as little as I get out these days. Great staff, great food(I recommend their breakfasts and the homestyle cheeseburger with yam fries), not so great location but it’s worth it. Sitting outside with a milkshake is a great way to spend a Summer day. Contrary to popular belief, they aren’t open 24 hours. Back before the new owners took over they were, not anymore despite what you might read in outdated travel books. Oh, and they have the best juke box on the Island.
