Marketa’s Bed and Breakfast

This is my second time staying at Marketa’s B&B and I am still happy with the whole package from room to food.
This time around, my fiancé and I stayed two nights in one of the honeymoon suites. The room was nicely appointed in Victorian style furniture and décor. The room includes a jacuzzi (which we enjoyed using after walking around all day!), plus full washroom facilities, a fireplace and a tv.
I was most looking forward to the breakfasts offered as I remember them being so good! Especially the warm muffins at breakfast. The first breakfast there were no muffins offered to me so I just assumed they didn’t make them anymore. But I found out later that they did. So I was disappointed with that. But the pancakes made up for the lack of muffins, which were fluffy and loaded with fresh fruit and chantilly cream.
I was able to try a muffin the next day, and happily so! The next day I chose the french toast which I did not care for. It left a bitter and burnt taste in my mouth even though none of the pieces were burnt. Strange. But I happily devoured the accompanying fruit that came with the meal.
This B&B is in a great location, walking distance to the Fisherman’s wharf. We had a car so we drive places but I think the walk would be nice to the main downtown area if the weather was nicer.
All in all I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a cozy and clean place to stay that offers breakfast as well!

4 stars for cleanliness: the only real cons are that I could feel the goats milk caking the inside of the hot tub after the first day, which means they didn’t clean too thorough but everything else was very clean.
4 stars for décor. For a Victorian era house the place is very well kept. Marketa has obviously taken a lot of care in decorating the furniture and the house.
5 stars hospitality. Marketa is a gem. She offered the couch on the living room and even an empty room if I couldn’t get to sleep after my son got fussy.
5 stars for food. Simply delicious everything.
5 stars location. Easy walking distance to legislature, the wharf, museums, and a very large park.

I took my husband to Victoria for the first time a few weeks ago and we had a lovely time. marketa’s is nice in most areas but I think could use some work and others. First off the breakfast is absolutely amazing. They have a selection of about 4 – 5 items you can choose from, some with meat and some vegetarian. They are also willing to accommodate any dietary needs as well. fresh fruit, coffee, and juice is part of the meal as well. The food is fresh, tasty and fantastic. The room we were in was small but served it’s purpose and was quaint. There are some things in the room though that I really wish we had. It’s what you think of when you go to any bed-​and-​breakfast or hotel. There was only a tiny bar of face soap. No hand soap to wash your hands, and no body wash for the shower. Also the very tiny travel hairdryer did not work too well for our room. I tried drying my hair and it would shut off every 30 seconds because it overheated then it just stopped working, period. The owner was not there I did let the person in charge know, but It never did get replaced. Those are small things in the scheme of it all, however it is the little things that count, so if I went back I would love to see those things added. The bed-​and-​breakfast is in a nice fairly quiet area. It is within walking distance (15 min) to the main part of town where you will find Parliament, the British Museum, restaurants, and more. Overall I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking for a convenient place to stay in the Victoria BC area.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, and good breakfast. If you come in summer, bring some bug spray. There’s no air conditioning, and we found a lot of mosquitos in our room because they kept the door open before we checked in. The location is nice and quiet.

This is not a super fancy B&B but the room was clean and comfortable. It was hot during our stay so we didn’t get to try the fireplace or the jacuzzi tub but I’m betting they would be an excellent romantic touch to the evening.
Breakfast each day was fantastic. We had pancakes, fried eggs and the eggs florentine. The cheese sauce on the florentine was phenomenal. The muffins that are served each day are not to be missed. The strong coffee is a good jolt to get you out the door & enjoying the gorgeous city!
Would highly recommend this place if you’re staying in Victoria for a couple days.

Cons: I wasn’t very impressed with the cleanliness of our room and the overall condition. Chipped paint, a threadbare comforter with another threadbare comforter underneath for warmth, cobwebs in the chandeliers, and irregular temperature control in our room at night were just a few things that I noticed during our overnight stay in the honeymoon suite.
Pros: Breakfast was delicious, although our waiter could barely speak let alone understand English. Marketa was very friendly, and we had great company at breakfast. It’s inexpensive, and a short walk to the inner harbor attractions
Overall, I’d say you get what you pay for while staying at Marketa’s.

Great Bed and Breakfast! The staff was very helpful and nice and the breakfast was excellent. We stayed on the lower level, and was not too noisy and we had our own bathroom.

Great location in a quiet neighborhood near waterfront. Maintenance & housekeeping could be better. Price OK considering where it is. No AC but fan provided.

Marketa’s B&B is conveniently located, reasonably priced, and super hospitable!
The breakfast (we had pancakes and Florentine eggs benny) was freshly cooked, so it may take awhile for your food to come out. However, they do offer delicious scones and muffins while you enjoy friendly conversations with other guests.
The lower-​level kitchen was available for guests staying at the bottom floor. It was not the cleanest or most well-​equipped kitchen, but it was sufficient. I do wish they had better tea selections, after all, since it is in Victoria. (Murchie’s perhaps?)
FYI: Mr. T (their dog) can snore like a man, but he is a friendly dog!

This is a great little B&B and come highly recommended. It has excellent reviews on trip advisor and we had a great experience here. Breakfast is good And the staff is friendly. The location is just a few blocks from downtown in a quiet residential neighborhood. Only complaints would be that the coffee is pretty bad and the pillows are flat. We would certainly return and recommend this place to friends.

We stayed at Marketa’s about a month ago when we were passing through Victoria. We’d originally planned to stay two nights, but we had car trouble and had to cancel the first night at the last minute. Even though they have a two-​night minimum on weekends, Marketa was very understanding and didn’t charge us for the second night.
Once we finally arrived and settled in, Marketa provided us with some excellent dining recommendations. The stroll into Victoria was lovely. The bed and breakfast is centrally located, but also out of the way of the hustle and bustle of town, so you really have the best of both worlds.
Breakfast in the morning was a treat as well. My husband and I had eggs Benedict, which were delicious. The two ladies who helped serve breakfast were very sweet, as were the guests who shared the table with us. I would definitely stay at Marketa’s again!

Pros: Great location, reasonable price, friendly staff.
Cons: a little bit rundown — but I usually expect that with a B&B.
Although portions of the house had aged well, other parts just seemed worn out.
