Albion Manor Bed & Breakfast

We enjoyed all the details in our room and appreciated the sitting area indoors and the outdoor spaces as well. All our questions were quickly answered and service was thorough and friendly. When we asked for more tea in the afternoon, it was empty, it was promptly refilled in a friendly way.
Breakfasts were served with lovely China and a bit of extra care was used to seat everyone for a nice conversation. The food was delicious and no one left hungry.
We went to two B&B’s in Victoria and this one is the one that both of us felt more comfortable and welcome and would visit again in Victoria. The other B&B, which made us chuckle, chastised me for being late (less than ten minutes) to breakfast at 8:30. We were the only guests that morning. I stayed in the room alone for a few minutes more. We both commented afterwards that Albion Manor always made you feel welcome.
Even though they were painting and getting ready for the busy summer season, you felt like your comfort was their first priority.

Albion Manor is a true gem conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Victoria. The house itself is a work of art – magic and whimsy around every corner. From antique Victorian furniture to hand-​painted details throughout the interior and exterior of the house (frescos on the ceiling!) to bold and unusual artwork (many pieces created by Fernando himself), it is a floor to ceiling feast for the eyes. Add to that all the amenities you could want: super soft towels, plush robes, a bed fit for a king complete with down comforter, a delicious home-​cooked breakfast each morning, and the list goes on! Last but not least, Fernando. From greeting us at the door and sharing his favorite places to see in Victoria, to telling stories of his life and world travels over the breakfast table, Fernando made our stay truly memorable. We cannot recommend the Albion Manor highly enough.

I’d always shied away from B&Bs as a bit too close for comfort, but after staying here I’m a convert! The owners have done a beautiful job of restoring and furnishing this fine old Victoria home in a variety of antique styles, all of which complement each other w/​o clashing or being over the top. And, there are some really fine furnishings here, including a Tiffany hanging lamp, some great classic beds, and a nicely detailed dining room, where delicious and convivial breakfasts are served at 8 and 9 a.m. I stayed in the Queen’s Chamber, which, like some other rooms, has its own private bath and porch, both of which were nicely suited to their purposes. There is privacy when you want it, and the chance to meet and mingle w/​fellow guests in the parlor, library, and elsewhere. The gardens are well-​maintained and inviting. Peace and quiet abide here and in the neighborhood overall, and it’s w/​in an easy walk of the Legislature, the Empress, and other nearby sights. The rates are a good value and I’d definitely stay here again. Highest recommendation, and well-​deserved.

If you’re looking for a Victorian experience, historic/​artsy atmosphere, and a B&Bwalking distance from downtown then you’ve found the perfect B&B. Fernando’s art is magnificent to view and the breakfast is perfectly quaint and delicious. One of the best B&Bs I’ve ever been to. We stayed in Shakespeare and the room had all the character we’d hoped for!

If you like to stay in B&B’s then this place is a must. The owners are amazing, the breakfast fantastic and the house is a must see. We have stayed at Albion 3 times and look forward to coming back. I absolutely love this place. Don and Fernando are such great hosts!!! The breakfast are very gourmet and will be a joy to all that have the pleasure to experience them. I love to take in Fernando’s art which is everywhere. Enjoy

My daughter and I relaxed in the Gargoyle Cottage for our extended mother’s day adventure. The three room cottage provided ample space for us to connect with each other and to be alone with our digital friends. The neighborhood is safe for late night walking home from a concert at the Royal Theater. We napped by the water feature and smells of the garden. But the best part of Albion Manor is the breakfast. The was my third visit to this B&B and every breakfast is over the top: curried fruit, scones, fresh asparagus with ham eggs and hollandaise.

We stayed here recently for our honeymoon and had a good time. We were sad to see that the proprietors, Don and Fernando were away on a trip, but their substitute was really so delightful and accommodating. The food was very solid and location was really very convenient for those of us coming off the Victoria Ferry. The grounds were lovely and we very much enjoyed the off-​beat art. We stayed in the Henry the VII room and loved the jacuzzi tub. For what we received, however, we thought the price was high. We could hear folks moving around the house even thought we were only one of two couple staying there. We always stay at B&B’s when travelling if at all possible and just didn’t find this the best value for our $$, all things considered. This review had absolutely nothing to do with the substitute proprietor who was absolutely lovely.

Couldn’t be happier with this place. Thoughtful décor, warm hosts, and excellent breakfast. The beds were quite comfortable and I did not realize that you could purchase towels as soft as theirs. We will definitely be back. Thank you Don and Fernando, this place you’ve created is beautiful.

Fernando and Don are wonderful! It was super easy to book the room online. It was a quick walk from the ferry dock. We had no problem finding our way to the bed and breakfast. While walking down the street, you could tell which was Albion Manor because the garden was well kept and the house is unique and beautiful. There was also a sign. We walked up to the side front door and rang the doorbell. We were greeted by Fernando who was working in the office next to the front door. He invited us in. The inside was well decorated in a holiday fashion. We entered on the top floor and were told our room was downstairs but was not yet ready. Fernando asked us to leave our bags there and he would move it into our room. He then gave a us a map and pointed a number of places we should go eat or look at while we waited. Wonderful recommendations.
We stayed in the Oscar Wilde room for $ 145 a night. It had TV with cable, two twin beds pushed together to make a king size bed, our own private bathroom heated on the floor. There was plenty of room to put our bags in the closet and walk around and sit on the couch. We also had a bottom floor door we could use to get to our bedroom faster from outside. This was my first time at a bed and breakfast so I didn’t know what to expect. We stayed overnight but in the morning, we chose between two breakfast times and attended the later. When we got to the dining room, we were greeted by Fernando who assisted us with our seats. Fernando served us mass amounts of coffee or tea. The first breakfast, Don cooked us curried fruit with yogurt to start off and ended with sausage with french toast with orange marmalade. The second breakfast we had a blueberry scone which was a waffle with cream cheese and jam followed with a delicious eggs nest of hash brown with pesto, tomatoes, and basil with turkey bacon and fruit. Breakfast definitely mad this bed and breakfast an experience. We had plenty of time to talk with Fernando and got to meet the other guests staying in the manor. Definitely had more of a home rather than a hotel. I loved my first experience! Fernando and Don were amazing!

My bf and I stayed here for our 4 year anniversary getaway trip and it was one of the most relaxing experiences at a B&B ever.
PROS:
1. Conveniently located. Just far enough off the main street to be private, yet close enough to walk everywhere.
2. Comfortable, yet extravagant rooms. It’s in the details. We stayed in the King Henry room, with a massive king-​sized bed imported from Europe, hand painted murals on the ceiling by Fernando (one of the owners) himself, a jacuzzi tub in the corner of our room, robes, etc. So nice.
3. Delicious food. Don (the other owner) cooked us a three course breakfast reminiscent of the Victorian era. We all sat down at the the large dining table together while Fernando served us, one course at a time. We started with yogurt and Spanish style peaches topped with lime zest. Then we had homemade currant scones. Then we finished off with crab eggs served over ham and asparagus.
A great B&B I highly recommend to out of town visitors and locals alike.

I stayed at Albion Manor with a girlfriend for 3 nights. We had a wonderful time. You can walk to everything. The owners are welcoming and knowledgeable about Victoria. Don prepares the most amazing breakfasts.

What a find! Three blocks from the Parliament building and less than a mile from a dozen things you want to do in Victoria, the Albion Manor is set away from the noise and traffic in a residential neighborhood. The grounds are not very large but they are utterly spectacular, at least in summer when everything is in bloom. What a lilac!
We were in the Michaelangelo room which is pretty typical of this B&B. It was clean and comfortably furnished although a bit crowded. Best of all, it had a private entrance and porch.
The breakfast was truly gourmet, well prepared and served on fine china in an amazing dining room. There is one table that seats no more than 10. With two seatings, you will probably be sharing it will just a few other people. What a great way to start a day!
You might be a bit put off at first by the way the house is decorated, or should I say stuffed, with everything from antiques to the sort of «objects» you wonder why anybody would buy. But it is the creation of Fernando, who not only serves breakfast, but is an artist to boot, and you have to consider the Albion Manor as a work of art. You may love it or you may not, but you can appreciate it for what it is regardless.
And it is not too expensive. Like I said, what a find!

A year ago, we discovered the Albion Manor while vacationing on our honeymoon. Compared with other B&B experiences we’ve had, Albion was right at the top of the list for anywhere we’ve stayed. When we had a chance to come to Victoria again for a business trip/​romantic get-​away, it was an easy choice to stay with Don & Fernando once again. Don & Fernando have gone to painstaking lengths to individually decorate every single room. Much of the art at Albion was done by Fernando himself, and the time and care they put into this is very much appreciated. If the B&B is not at full capacity, they keep the rooms unlocked, so we definitely recommend wandering around and taking a look. Every room is exquisitely decorated with a different theme (check out the new Henry VIII room). The building is filled with wonderful, interesting objects and Fernando is often happy to tell you the story behind each one. The gardens outside are just as lovely as the home itself, and it’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon reading outdoors. But what is a B&B without the breakfast, and here again Don & Fernando do not fail to disappoint. Among the many highlights for breakfast this week we had: cheese soufflé, fresh croissants with homemade jam, and a delicious curried fruit compote. Your breakfast is so generous (3 courses) that you will be challenged to find room for lunch. It’s absolutely first rate. When you consider what a breakfast like this would cost separately in Victoria, you get a fantastic value considering the excellent, excellent quality of the meal. The other wonderful thing about the Albion’s clientele is that it attracts a wonderfully diverse group of dining partners. We have met people from all over the world when staying here, and often have excellent conversations. We can’t say enough good about the Albion Manor. This is a wonderful place to stay for the incredible value, elegant experience, and close proximity to all the attractions in downtown Victoria.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a getaway to Victoria and we loved it! The house is beautiful and chock full of interesting and beautiful art and furniture. We stayed in Room 4, which was an excellent choice for a romantic vacation, and Don and Fernando were excellent hosts! We loved chatting with Fernando in the morning about the history of this amazing Victorian house and the breakfast was the best I’ve had in a while! And I found the price was very reasonable for the luxurious rooms and amazing food.
It’s also within walking distance to the city center, and the garden was lovely. I would definitely stay here again and I absolutely recommend this to anyone staying in Victoria!

This b&b is located close to the Inner Harbor but is located on a quiet residential street. It is quite convenient to be able to park your car for no fee here. The Albion is a charming place and Fernando is a funny guy. Don cooks the most amazing breakfast courses and I was very impressed with the almond scones and the salmon and mushroom quiche. Also, the peaches in yogurt and sherry were memorable. We stayed in Room 6 which had a cute bed and a modern bathroom. The room was located behind the dining room so I would recommend staying on the bottom floor (ie Room 3) for more privacy. Also, I did not like that it was difficult to close the shades so we were woken up by sun at 6 am and chirping birds due to having to leave the window open for some air. The patio is shared for this room so you can hear the guests next door and they could easily see in your room which is not so romantic. I would stay here again but I would recommend the cottage that is separate from the main house and I like that they allow pets in the cottage. There is free wireless here as well.

Such nice hosts and amazing breakfasts made our five night stay one of the best vacations we’ve taken. The rooms are beautiful and filled with whimsical, thought provoking art alongside antiques and modern comforts. A short walk will get you downtown and work off your breakfast or lead you to some great choices for dinner.
If they have a vacancy, this is the place.

We have been to Victoria several times in addition to traveling extensively this past year. Albion is the finest B&B we have ever stayed at; the ONLY one as good as the 5-​star hotels RiverPlace in Portland, OR and Millenium in Boston, MA.
Location is ideal, on a quiet residential street but within walking distance to most tourist activities. Parking is easy. Innkeepers Don and Fernando are delightful, and Don’s breakfasts are simply, the finest we’ve ever had. His cooking is superb. Not even the Ritz-​Carlton will give you a perfect Cheddar soufflé with homemade scones for breakfast, served on fine china with silverware, along with superior coffee and teas.
Bedrooms have marvelous antiques, but the bathrooms are large and opulently modern, exactly what we wanted but have never found anywhere else. We loved the eclectic décor, with less of the lacy frilliness that many Victorians are decorated with.
We enjoy Victoria, and from now on Albion is our preferred place to stay.

This place is an amazing little B&B, just tucked away enough to make it a beautiful refuge, while still within easy walking distance of everything in Victoria.
The B&B itself is absurdly cute. A very old Victorian house full of old furniture (both beautiful and odd), art (both beautiful and odd) and portraits (pretty much uniformly odd), the Albion is broken up into eight bedrooms, one big living room, a cozy library, and the dining room. We stayed in room 7, which was fantastic. I loooooved the claw-​footed tub, and the bed was both comfortable and interesting (though it squeeks a lot when, ummmm, well when being used for alternative purposes).
So, that’s the bed part, but what about the breakfast? HEAVEN! Simply some of the best breakfasts I have ever had. NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!
If I’d been here in the summer, this place would’ve probably gotten five stars, but being there in February I missed out on some stuff. The garden was obviously dead and uninviting (being winter, and all) and the owners were unfortunately out of town. If I’m ever back in the summer, though, I’m sure this place would earn that last star in a heartbeat.

My friend and I took a girls trip here and were more than pleasantly surprised by how friendly the owners were. The rooms are very comfortable, bordering on lush. The breakfast home cooked each morning are simply to die for.
We had a perfect corner room with private access and just LOVED it. We would definitely return here — and the price was terrific! One of my favorite places to stay in Victoria so far!
