I just walked in and was surprised about the quality and how delicious was my «the belly» sandwich. Which is spicy smoked salmon one . Good job !

My bf had cold smoked tuna tartine which he said was average. The chowder was disappointing. I was expecting it to be very good since I read good reviews on it. The halibut curry with salmon koftas on basmati rice was very nice. Lots of nice flavours. I was expecting it to be as good as Red fish blue fish since I heard that the owner used to be there.

Food: The food is very delicious and good fun. I am using the term fun because the food is interesting and the ingredients are well transformed into so enjoyable dishes. Location/Atmosphere: We did take out but while waiting for our food you could get a nice impression of the place. It is not big and the interior is kept simple. I would describe it as a nice place to go for a weekday comfy date with my hubby :) Extra*: People at fishhook were very friendly to us. Favourite dish so far(have to go back and try more): The Daily Khatch and mussels(might have been a special that day)

Culinary subterfuge: I snuck away from my family while visiting to have a bite at Fish Hook. We’d been at the yummy Chorizo & Co. next door the night before and I was intrigued by Fish Hook’s menu… so I snuck back the next day. I had the chowder & a tartine(open faced sandwich) called The Cure. SOOOOO reasonably priced! The food was under $ 15 and the quality was top notch. The chowder was white… but not thick and not too creamy. Here’s an innovative twist I love: they use smoked salmon instead of bacon. How clever is that? So delicious… I can still remember the exact taste. The Cure is open faced with lox, chive cream cheese and it had a hint of lemon to it — which elevated it and again, was unforgettable. Super casual atmosphere. It’s very crowded in here — I don’t like that. But the staff is friendly and helpful. I really can’t wait to get back and have another bite! That’s the highest recommendation I can give!

It’s seat yourself order when ready, fast service great food. We had the recommended rice dish and the fish chowder. Both were amazing and filling for two people. I would recommend this to anyone wandering the area looking for a great eating experience. The staff there are friendly and very knowledgable of the food they serve.

Really cool little place. The menu is all casual seafood fare, with an Indian influence. An entire section for tartines(open faced sandwiches) and some mains. I had the shrimp tartines and it was really delicious. Seeing as all tartines were around $ 7-$ 10, I had feared it might be small. But it was a decent size(albeit did not come with any sides). My dining partner tried the pondicherry main, and it was equally tasty! Fish cakes in a sort of curry sauce served on basmati rice. So good. They had a small drinks menu also. We tried a beer that was a pilsner and grapefruit radler combo. It was insanely good. The place is small, casual and the seating was almost like a fast food restaurant. Prices were very reasonable. Will be back!

My favourite go-to restaurant. The quality and creativity is astounding. Looking for a soup and sandwich? Try an open faced tartine and the best chowder in the city. Also a great spot for dinner with creative dishes including salmon pakoras. Let’s put it this way… I downloaded Unilocal just so I could write this amazing spot a review!

The best restaurant in Victoria so far… The staffs are friendly, and the food is GREAT… The Briyani is the best I have had… And the salmon pakora is just delicious. I don’t normally write review, but feel compelled to do so to get this place much deserved recognition.

We had planned on going to red fish, blue fish but was informed it was closed. Therefore decide on their other spot and boy we were sooo glad we did! The place is quaint and has a modern, homey feel. They accommodated our kids very well and the food. The food were sooo good! I usually can read the menu and description and figure out whats going to come out, but I was defeated when I read their menu! I couldn’t pinpoint what kind of food I was eating because the burst of flavor and style is sooo different. I knew it was some kind of indian fusion. The flavors were impeccable and the bread was light, airy, crispy but buttery. yum! I couldn’t tell you what I had but it was very good! My husband had the mussels. Yummm! We’ll be back! Btw. It is FRENCH-INDIAN inspired food. Perfect combo!

Oh my. We went to this place for takeout while in Victoria. Now, days later, my mouth still waters thinking of the meal. We ordered The Belly Tartine, the Daily Khatsch with albacore tuna, and a medium fishhook chowder. The Belly Tartine was crispy on the outside and had a complex mix of flavours with just enough spice. The Albacore tuna was seared on the outside and raw in the middle. Combined with the wonderful aromatic spices on top of the rice, it was heaven. The fishhook chowder is filling. I would almost call it a stew since there is hardly any liquid. It was delicious. I can’t wait to go back to Victoria so I can visit this place again!

Friendly, fast service and delicious meals. The food seems to be of very high quality, with just enough spice to make it tasty, but not over-powering.

So happy this place opened up and is continually adding more awesomeness. They now serve drinks! And they have a garden patio! I have yet to sit there and enjoy a tartine. They make the best salmon chowder! Wow. I just wish I could go there and have a huge glass of malbec with it, but I usually go at lunchtime. The portion is filling, lots of crispy toasted baguette with high quality olive oil, which makes it seem buttery.

Holy Cow! This place is AMAZING! Soooo much fish in the chowder … fantastic tuna melt … and delicious curry. We ordered too much, and paid too little(all of the above for under $ 35). I couldn’t finish my dishes.

Pretty reasonable seafood delights. I love their tartines. Just the basic tuna one is great. Reasonable price too. My son had the spicy one(sorry can’t remember exactly what it was) but it was amazing. Last week, my husband and I had their pondicherry curry and it absolutely hit the spot. Salmon is seasoned perfectly, and the curry spicy but not crazy spicy, you know? I could live without chick peas but even they were delicious. It’s our go-to place when we want something quick, cheap but tastes really good.

Fishook is a great restaurant with fresh fish, good flavors, and nice portions. I had a fish curry with salmon and a tuna sausage. I kind of thought I would be getting a bowl of fish curry, but the plating consisted of + basmati rice + freshly cooked salmon + curry sauce on the side + fried onions on top + date curry paste on th eside The meal came out quite fast, and the curry flavors were really balanced and had warm spices.

Meine Geschmackssinne tanzen noch immer Rock’n Roll. Dieser Fishfood-Place ist fantastisch. Einfach aber sauber und cool eingerichtet. Diverse kleinere Gerichte. Für jeden Geschmack etwas.

Have you been to Red Fish Blue Fish in Victoria? Well, come to Fishhook, a spin off with the same chef that’s only been open for a week. Their theme here is tartines, a sort of open-faced seafood sandwhich. An assortment of pickled veggies, salads, and soups are on the menu as well. Get some melted cheddar on that tartine if you so choose. Located just west of downtown on Fort Street, this is a must for great food.
