I’ve dealt with a number of non-​dealer repair shops, in both the US and Canada, and these guys are by far the best I’ve encountered. Prompt, friendly service, very reasonable prices, they get the job done and I never get the sense that they’re trying to «pad the bill». Many auto shops give you the impression that they’re out to raid your wallet; I never have that with the folks at Tremblay. I trust them! How often can you say that about an auto repair place?

Once again I had a great experience taking my 26 year old Mazda 323 to Tremblay Motors. I was lucky enough to get in two days before New Year’s Eve thanks to some cancellations. Sam went over the notes from my last visit and I explained how my brakes were sticking. He called me about an hour later to let me know what they had found and gave me an estimate to replace the rear brakes. A lot of other places will try to add in extra work but Sam just quoted exactly what had to be done so «Silver» would run smoothly and safely. She was ready to pick up by noon the next day. She looked all clean and sparkly inside and out. They even taped together my driver side mirror that had a run-​in with a post a while back and my own temporary tape job hadn’t held out! You can’t beat this business for excellent customer service and a positive experience! Thanks guys! I’ll be back!

I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot! A friend recommended this shop to me as my previous mechanic is out in Burnaby. That meant I basically put off taking my car in because it was a hassle to get home from while my car was worked on. Recent sketchy noises were weighing on my mind though! Booked an appointment and it was worth the wait. I needed new brakes along with the regular oil change. The price was reasonable and the service was great. They even replaced five bulbs and only charged for the parts. Not only did I feel comfortable and welcome as a customer but I also felt confident that I wasn’t being overcharged for unnecessary work. Bonus is that it’s walking distance from home!

this review is for the amazing customer service and service in general that this shop provides, brad is awesome at what they do and i always get what i want and on time with my vehicles since they know i need them in a really good shape for my business.

The team at Tremblay Motors provide exceptional and personalized service on a consistent basis. My husband and I have been taking our vehicles there for years because of their convenient location and also, we know we can always rely on their expert and trustworthy advice and service.

After having some bad experiences elsewhere, I’m so glad I looked on Unilocal and found Tremblay Motors! From the first phone call I made to the time I got my Jeep back, they were incredibly nice, informative, patient and efficient. I know a little about cars but not a ton and I never felt any pressure whatsoever. They made multiple phone calls throughout the diagnosis and explained everything they found. I requested some price quotes and they were more than happy to prepare those. In the end, I got some urgent items done on the Jeep and tabled some other less urgent ones. At the end, I left confident my vehicle was in good repair and had a plan going forward to budget future work.

I took my car to Tremblay Motors because of all the positive Unilocal reviews and their convenient location. My mom recently gave me the trusty family car, a ’97 Honda CR-​V, so I am new to car ownership, know absolutely nothing about engines, and am thus very wary of being tricked or overcharged. It was important for me to find someone honest, and so when I dropped my car off for service and chatted briefly with another customer, I was put at ease. This customer said he had been bringing his vehicle (s) to Tremblay for over 20 years and that he thought they were very fair. Another reason to thank my fellow Unilocalers.
My car ended up needing much more work than I anticipated, but Brad phoned me and updated me each step of the way and explained what was urgent and what could wait. He took the time to inform me about the importance of the timing belt, and suggested I phone the previous mechanics who have worked on my car to ask whether they had ever changed it. In the end, my car needed a new radiator and thermostat, rear differential service, and a new timing belt, outer drive belts, and water pump. I was given quotes before each of the jobs were done, and it all ended up coming to a bit under $ 2000 after tax. Ouch. But since the car hadn’t been serviced in over a year and I am going on a road trip with friends soon, I deemed it a necessary expense, and I am hoping it won’t need any more major work done in the near future (queue to me glaring at my car threateningly; no, I didn’t mean it!).
Tremblay Motors probably does deserve 5 stars, but since I don’t have much experience with other mechanics it is hard for me to give that rating. I feel safer driving my car now after knowing that they’ve looked it over and have fixed all the pressing issues, and I am glad to know there’s a friendly, family-​owned business not too far from home for any future automotive service/​repair needs. Sam and Brad provide excellent customer service, and it’s quite clear that they value their customers. And it’s true, you do find a Werther’s candy when you pick up your car!

Phenomenal customer service from father and son proprietors. Snappy service, clear communication, reasonable pricing, and a detailed discussion with me after servicing helped me understand what kind of attention my car received. You won’t be disappointed by supporting this long-​time family-​run business. I went in for routine maintenance and oil change. The candy on the dash was a nice touch too!

The high praise in previous reviews is what got me in to Tremblay, so I feel like I should add to that. I just got home from my first visit to them and am so happy to have found not only super friendly service, but honesty and professionalism. Brad was in contact with me every step of the way to let me know exactly what was going on with my car and even showed me what had happened with my brakes when I came in to pick it up. They managed to fit me in before heading out of town on a little road trip which was really good of them, and even gave my car a wash and vacuum. Excellent experience and I am definitely bringing my car here from now on!

About the same cost as everywhere else, service is excellent and they’re conveniently located downtown.
Brad was very helpful in assisting diagnose an issue with my car’s transmission, something Honda on SW Marine was charging an arm and a leg for. Car’s back on the road in great shape and I’m not that broke! Great news!

Really happy with their service. My car got towed here after it had a major meltdown, and although it took longer to repair than originally quoted (to no fault of their own), they kept me updated (both the mechanic working on my car, as well as what I am assuming is the owner), and even got me a cheaper part through an auto wrecker when I am certain they could have sold me a new part for very much more. Due to it taking longer than expected, I got a great price and my car runs perfectly, plus I felt I was dealing with ethical and honest people. I will definitely be back in future!

Super helpful and professional. A bit pricier than i would like to pay for a regular maintenance, but they do inspect everything for you piece of mind.

Tried Tremblay Motors after price shopping some of the competition (Autobots, Mr. Lube) and was very happy with my decision. They did the work I came in for, ringing in at the same price they quoted me via email. Then they even came up with a solution for an esthetic issue that multiple other auto shops hadn’t been able to help me with — and didn’t tack on any extra charge for it!

I just has the best experience here. I went to these guys after having a horrendous experience with another auto place. I met both Sam and his son Brad and both were extremely courteous and helpful. I went in to have them fix an awful job the previous auto shop did. The previous place was going to charge me $ 70 for the job and Tremblay charged me $ 27 for the exact same thing. They didn’t charge labour and I just was charged the price of the part! Then there was also a heating problem (that started only after I brought it the other place) Sam took the time to explain the problem (diagrams and all) and recommended me to a VW place and afterwards, when I came to my car it was washed and vacuumed and they didn’t charge me a cent! These guys are top-​notch and I’d definitely give these guys my business and happily recommend them!

I have an old rusted 2001 VW TDI Jetta with 330,000kms and it needed a new bushing to get rid of some clunking in the back.
I found this shop from Unilocal and decided to go with them.
Right from the first phone call to make my appointment, I was impressed. They were so friendly.
Took my car in and got a call a few hours later. They informed me of the condition of my car underneath and that it needed done more work than I anticipated.
I didn’t want to spend more which I said my concern and they listened but explained to me in detail of what was going on. After some thought we worked out a deal.
Got my car back a few days later and right away I was surprised. They had even cleaned my car fully! It was a mess I kind of felt bad because I wasn’t expecting that.
They were able to do the work and without more issues from rusted broken bolts or whatever. That’s what I was worried about the entire time waiting. But they did it all and about two months later I’m still rocking and rolling with my old beast. Thank you to these great folks!
Still looking into a different less rusted old car and when I do get it I’ll bring it here for sure!

I brought my Jeep TJ in on a Friday afternoon just hoping to get it looked at. Brad listened to the problem, gave me three likely scenarios, and told me he would give me a quote before closing at 5:00. Instead, at 4:55 I was handed the keys to my completely fixed car, all for under $ 100. Amazing service, I’ll be coming back here as long as I drive.

OK. So I’m starting these guys off with four stars because we are new customers of Tremblay and I am comparing them with Clarkdale. Our first encounter was excellent.
Dead struts were replaced really fast with almost no notice on our part. Ya, it was pricey, but there were no surprises. They called to update me on their progress during the day.
They could have easily just charged us more for a realignment, but said we were lucky and didn’t need it. Now that’s honesty for mechanics!
Sorry Clarkdale, but you are sooooo fired!

Great help. Fast, efficient and super friendly. I can see how they’ve done well by serving Vancouver for 75 + years.

When Maxine, my 2001 Volvo V40 wouldn’t start one day, I called BCAA. They had to tow her to a mechanic, as it was an ignition problem that needed to be looked at. They gave me a list of mechanics in the area, and after looking them all up on Unilocal,I chose Tremblay because of the reviews.
I called them to ask if they could take a look and let them know to expect her. Sam, the father of the father&son team was really kind on the phone. He said they’d call me after she arrived that day to let me know what they saw.
No phone call.
I waited until 6, then I called them and left a message asking them to call me next morning.
They didn’t.
At around 11am I called them again, and this time I was passed to Brad (the son). Brad explained what he had thought to be the problem, and that the part they needed was only available from volvo (so it would be expensive). He gave me a quote and said he’d call around to see if he could get it cheaper. In the meantime, I looked at online forums and his quote was accurate — $ 250 for the part and 2.5 hrs labour was about right for what was wrong.
He called me later that day to tell me what he thought was the problem might not be the problem at all — apparently in talking to one of their usual parts suppliers, the supplier suggested he check something else, and sure enough, that was the issue. Now the part would cost $ 195, and 3.5 hrs labour. He said that he could get the part earliest the next day, and that they told him it would arrive ‘sometime in the afternoon’, meaning my car would either be ready Thursday afternoon, or at the latest, Friday morning.
No word on Thursday.
No word on Friday.
Halfway through Friday, I call. Brad isn’t in today, apparently. The person who I spoke to said that the part they got wasn’t the right one, and that the correct one would arrive Monday.
No word on Monday.
On Tuesday, they finally call, leaving a message that my car is ready on my voicemail.
I only picked my car up today (Thurs) and I am surprised that I got no followup call from them — they just left me a voicemail and stopped there.
When I went to pick her up, I was happy to see that she was turning on. But they reset the battery, which on a Volvo means that the car radio system won’t work until you call Volvo, give them your VIN, and they give you a key code to enter. They left my car without doing that, so I was left to take care of it. To me that’s leaving a job half done.
Everyone’s reviews said that they did a great job and left the car looking beautiful. I would expect that part of what I pay for (given their labour rate is $ 98/​hr according to my invoice) would be the ‘finishing touches’. My car was not vaccummed. There was absolutely no interior detailing done — not even a wipe of the dash. Everywhere else you go, that’s part of the service. Apparently not here.
For a family business, I’m disappointed. I run my own business, and I hand-​write a note to every single one of my customers when they place an order. These guys didn’t even greet me, some lacky took my money and handed me my keys — I didn’t meet Sam or Brad once. I also am annoyed at how much I had to call THEM to ask about my car. When you leave a piece of your property in someone’s car and pay them to perform a service on it, part of that service includes customer communication. I had to chase them to find out what was going on with my car.
I expect this kind of thing from some big-​box chain of mechanics, but for a family business that should know the value of customer service and a personal experience, these guys are seriously lacking. Disappointed, and I won’t be taking Maxine here again.

I went looking for a good repair shop after my husband had to wait 6 hours at another shop for a quote on repairs to our 2000 Volkswagen Passat. Tremblay has a night drop off option where you can leave your keys and a note with what is wrong which was convenient for us since it can be hard to get around during the workday.
Brad called me the next day after the mechanics had a chance to look at my car and assess what needed to be done. He was really thorough and clear in describing what work was needed and explained what was more important vs. less important (and could wait). He helped me pick out great tires based on our driving needs (which came with an $ 80/​tire rebate from the manufacturer which was a bonus!). All-​in-​all I felt like I was in competent hands and received great service which seems rare these days! After a hefty $ 3,800 repair bill which put a dent in our wallet, we hope we won’t be back soon but I am certainly happy I found Tremblay Motors. The synopsis: great service, informed staff, didn’t get ripped off, and would recommend this shop to others.
