Tim’s is under new ownership and is now less of a produce market and is more of a convenience store. The area for produce has been cut back by at least 75%.

Tim’s, for me, has been an average produce store. I always get a laugh from the poster on the glass door: a topless woman hugging produce. I guess their advertising strategy is from the sex sells methodology. The produce is fresh, usually free of bruises, and competitively priced. The selection of other grocery items is good, yet not ideal, and the store reasonably clean. It’s not my favorite of the Broadway produce stores, but if I’m hunting for a specific item I won’t hesitate to drop by. Reading Sheila’s review, however, I’d really like to be a regular here.

I miss living around the corner from this great produce shop. Especially compared to some of the other produce markets along this strip of West Broadway, Tim’s is a friendly place to shop. You are allowed to pay by charge card or debit. Also, the lady who runs the store recognized me after a few visits and would smile at me and ask me what I was cooking that day. There was even one instance when she noticed that I’d picked a bad package of strawberries(got a moldy one) and she set aside the bad pack and went to hand-pick a new package for me. That’s great service. In addition to the service and convenient payment options, the prices are very reasonable. Some items can be beat by cash-only produce shops, but usually Tim’s can compete on price.

Another produce market along Broadway near MacDonald. They specialize in local fruits and veggies and more exotic stuff you can’t necessarily find in big box stores. They also carry some imported asian prepackaged food like pocky. It’s not that big(smaller than New Apple across the street), so don’t expect a huge variety of non-produce items. The cheapest spartan apples around when they’re in stock. They sure beat the pants off the Safeway a block away.
