Great service, very accommodating, and very high quality work — my shellac manicure lasted for so much longer than usual!

I tried this new salon out back when they opened and knew I’d found my new place in Vancouver! I second the other reviews about he shellac. I get a French shellac and it lasts 4+ weeks every time. Easily the longest lasting. And the massages they give are amazing too. Always super friendly and remember you when you go back. Hands down better than any they the other 5 or 6 salons I bounced between before they opened.

My shellac manicure lasted from November 28 — December 27 without a SINGLE chip. That’s at least 12 days longer than any other shellac manicure I’ve ever received.
I give 5 stars because of the quality of the manicure — not because of the service (I don’t expect outstanding service at a in-​and-​out nail salon). My girl provided me with plenty of sass, which I could have been without — but the manicure job itself was really well done.

I absolutely love Sophie’s !!! I’ve been going to Sophie’s since they’ve opened up shop. I used to work in the area and even though I’ve changed locations I really don’t mind going back to Sophie’s.
I am generally a pretty picky person about how my nails are shaped and done in a manicure. I usually don’t mind having anyone of the girls work on me, but I love working with Oanh. I think she does the best shaping and a gives a great manicure and paint job. The paint job should last up to 3 weeks.
If you’re looking for a decent priced place, Sophie’s is your go to!!!

I’ve been going to Sophie’s for Shellac manis and regular pedicures for a few months now, and it is my favourite salon I’ve been to, by far. Prices are reasonable, it’s easy to get an appointment, lots of color selection, and the salon is clean and tidy. The girls who have done my nails have always been friendly and polite. I did have one less than stellar experience with a girl who did my nails two weeks ago. She did a great job with the Shellac, but was rough with my cuticles, and actually made one bleed. She also took a very long time. But she was nice, so I’ll continue giving Sophie’s my business.

I’m a server and it’s hard for me to find a place that I can get shellac and have them last for more than a week. It’s been 2.5 weeks and my left hand is still perfect but because I use my right hand mostly the index finger nail started chipping a little bit. Overall I still loved their work. She really took her time to make sure everything was perfect.

This place is the best at shellac in the city. I’ve been doing shellac or gel polish on my nails for years, and had a hard time finding a place in Vancouver after moving here from Toronto. The ladies here are polite, take the time to understand what you want, and deliver perfect nails that last weeks, everytime!
Only downside is they are very busy… understandably so!

After a few negative experiences with Fingertips further up Davie street, I decided to give this place a try. I was happy to find out that they have an appointment system they actually stick to (instead of booking you in for a time slot but then making you wait because they’ve taken too many walk ins). I’ve had a shellac manicure done twice and both times they’ve done an amazing, careful job and the shellac looks great for up to 3 weeks. If your nails are in decent shape go for the «polish change» instead of the full manicure to save yourself a bit of money. I had my shellac redone and a broken nail repaired for $ 31 including tax. I get tons of compliments on my nails and plan on making this my regular place.

I’ve been a costumer since they opened, usually come once a month for a pedicure and I have always feel happy when I leave; although the last couple of times I been asked to go and have my toe nails dry in one of the waiting area chairs, I usually spend that time to get a back massage provided by the spa chairs they have but because they want to go through their other costumers they move me!!! I don’t appreciate it at all, because I am paying for the full service and those other chairs are not comfortable at all. It is a shame because I don’t feel appreciated as the loyal costumer I’ve been, the owner is super nice but this I don’t think I will accept anymore.

I lived around the corner when Sophie’s salon first opened. I was a regular right up until I left the city. If I had of been a Unilocal user back then I would have written this review much sooner, but felt compelled to write one now as I realize how rare it is to find a good salon.
The space is small, but clean! The prices are standard if not a bit on the cheaper side. I was always met with kind service — and was made to feel comfortable. They have a good selection of polish colors. and also massage chairs if you are getting a pedi. I regularly got shellac manicures and pedicures. The manicures lasted 3+ weeks consistently!!! While the pedicures can last well over a month no problem. No chip, no peel. Nothing bad to say about Sophie’s!

I went here because it was pouring rain and my plans to play hookey from my work was thwarted.
It was highly recommended so I thought. why not. This place is definitely different from how they do nails in the USA. I wanted a French manicure gel… they asked me if I wanted a manicure after I said that and I was like. what? That just means do you want them to pick the dead skin off your nails.
The way they do your nails is definitely different than what they do here. One thing. they are really really slow. So it took an hour and a half to just do gel nails which is really crazy long. Other things I didn’t like:
1. I wanted to get my nails cut short before we started. I type a lot so I don’t like the clicking of my nails on a keyboard. oh and I used to play piano. so instead of cutting them, she filed them. And it hurt! She did it twice…
2. She didn’t ask me if I wanted rounded or square nails… I ended up getting square. Didn’t want to make her start again.
3. When they paint on the white tips. they make you hold your hand awkwardly in the air instead of figuring out how to do your nails with your hand down.
4. They really ask you to stick your hand under the UV lamp quite a bit… not good for your hands at all! It seems like there is no rhyme or reason either.
5. My nails didn’t seem hardened until like two days after I left. That’s weird since they always seem hard after I am done with gel nails in the USA.
It was okay. not sure if I would go again. The place I really wanted to go to closer to my hotel didn’t have anybody available when I wanted to go. Sad face.
My French manicure does look really good though. It’s just the little things that make me not too excited to go again.

What a «jewel» of a place it is for us Vancouverites!!!

No and Tracey seem to be the two I prefer, — I sure hope this business will be here for years to come, I’ve tried 4 super bad nail salons before I found Soohie’s…

Sophies nails are the best nail salon I have ever been too. I have been coming here since the month they opened and have enjoyed every occasion. I always ask for my girl Tracy she is AMAZING and always is so pleased to see me no matter how busy she is. There have been many times when I can’t get there on time and they stay late to make me happy. NU and her husband run an amazing establishment and I am so pleased that they opened it in the West end. All the girls that work there are fantastic but Tracy really stands out. Her personality is so nice and when I am going there I feel like I am going to see my friends.
Thank you Sophie’s nails for always been so nice and always providing me with the best service.

I made an appointment with a very friendly person on the other end. Although it was a bit awkward for a guy to walk in a nail salon full of women, I’ve needed a pedicure for a while. It’s been many years! Everyone was welcoming from the minute I walked in. Phung, the lady who took care of me was a real pro. After reading reviews from salons I was a bit scared I would walk out with bleeding toes but I have to tell you I never experienced any discomfort the whole time. It was quite the contrary, nice ambiance and very professional, clean and organized salon. I highly recommend you check out this Jem by English bay as for Phung. I’ll be back. Now to go enjoy the beach.

I really like this place. Got my nails done over a week ago and they are still like new… except for the nail growth, the colour is still vibrant and crack free.
Everyone is really nice and accomodating. The salon is clean and organized. The staff is quick and precise. They are really good at what they do. I will for sure be back. They do get super busy so make an appointment. I came in really early and when I was done there was a line up out the door.

20min shellac? I didn’t hold high hopes of it lasting but 4 weeks later not one chip only just grow out! The lady who did my nails was Vi and I’ll be back today to remove and reapply. It was $ 20 which I was pleasantly surprised at. Delighted to have a nice little salon with speedy service 2 blocks from home, super cheap & do a great job.

Fast, great Gel manicure, loads of colours to choose from. Very gentle with my cuticles (which were in rough shape after boating!), & on time.

After 4 or 5 attempts, one toe infection and one really bad cut during a pedicure I’m throwing in the towel on Sophie’s. I really wanted this salon to work out.
They’re really bad at keeping on time. Once sat for 45 minutes when I had an appointment. The girls are sweet, but the downsides outweigh the friendly staff.

Totally impressed with Sophie’s! Incredibly friendly and funny staff, amazing quality of work, great shaping (first time I haven’t had to ask to get anything fixed), amazing massage chairs, and the staff just really went above and beyond any mani pedi I have ever gotta. (And the price is reasonable!) my new usual spot.
