Fantastic pizza! We had the Hawaiian punch and another one that I can’t remember, and they were all delicious. Didn’t have to wait in line, good service. Also had the layered dessert which is one of my favourites… It was delicious!

The pizza is great, the staff seems nice. Sometimes it can be quite loud & busy. But it’s nice to see that they will take reservations and can accommodate large parties & children. A couple of times we’ve gone with a group of 3 or 4, and had to wait a few minutes but never very long. The oven is in plain view, and you can watch them make the dough, from your table, which is kinda neat. Their simple margherita pizza is really good. We always leave here feeling happy & satisfied :)

Returned to my roots/old stomping grounds — Mount Pleasant with mixed emotions. I had great memories growing up here & sliding down the hill on flattened cardboard boxes — at the park off St. Catherine’s street. Buying comic books at the old corner store at Fraser was always a joy! Pizzeria Barbarella is located on Broadway at Fraser St. I actually came here 2 weeks ago thinking they sold pizza by the slice — they don’t so here I am today — my return visit with my appetite ready to go! We got there when it just opened for business so we had the place to ourselves. Very cool eclectic music played in the background, interesting artworks on the walls & relaxed atmosphere with soft lighting help make this joint a place you want to hangout in. I met a friend for lunch here & we shared a Balboa pizza. Our waitress was friendly & made recommendations. We ordered a regular size & it was very good! It is spicy hot but I prefer my food to be on the mild side as I like to taste it! So we split the pizza down the middle with his side being the hot one. He said he did not notice it being hot in his mouth but sure felt it in his stomach. My side of the pizza was fantastic! I loved the sauce, the cheese, thin crust, etc — the Balboa goes down as one fine pizza! I will be going back!

One of the top 5 best pizza joints in the lower mainland. A bit noisy, otherwise perfect. Try the fungi, my favourite.

As advertised. Perhaps even a bonus star for providing Neapolitan-style pizza in Mount Pleasant area. First off, they have a few picture frames from the Mad Man TV series, one of my all-time favorites but I digress. Pretty pricey too, think the artist asking $ 800, but let’s digress again. Ordered the sausage chorizo, and for the pan size, more than enough. Nice crust too. Friendly service, she knew her pizzas. Kinda industrial & artsy décor, so makes for unique place to go out. Kudos for that. Free parking.

Good pizza. I didn’t know what the heck«mouth feel» was supposed to be until I ate a slice from this delicious pie palace. If I could begin to even describe the massage my mouth felt, I would have to write it in a saucy novel. Thus, you can just trust me — I give it my personal 10⁄10.

Good Neapolitan style pizza, with a bit of a creative flair. The honey pizza was a clear winner. Will definitely come back.

Pizza was good. And I appreciate the fact that they use olive oil instead of helping Heinz become more rich. I couldn’t eat the vegetables on top even though they are supposed to be good for my health. They didn’t taste good.

Love this pizza! Love love love this pizza! Love love love love love this pizza! Really, though, I love the thin crust crispy pizza. They come in one size, I’d consider it a large. It’s good for two people; but I greedy and must have my own. I highly recommend the Balboa, it’s my favorite. It has tomato, hot pepper sauce, bocconcini, aged mozzarella, spicy salametti, house– made pancetta, hot capocollo, cremini mushrooms, red onion, grana padano… so tasty! The vibe is casual, nice place to meet with friends. I’ve seen kids there, not sure if it’s a place for kids. They have beer on tap and a variation of wines. They do not do delivery but do take out. The average price for a pizza is about $ 18. A decent price for good pizza I think. The staff are very nice and knowledgeable and more than happy to answer any questions. I just love this place!

You know a pizza is good when upon reheating it, it still tastes as good as the day you bought it. While exploring the eclectic East Van neighbourhood with a friend we stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. The décor is nothing to inspire your imagination as in don’t expect much of an ambiance. Our server was friendly but upon my comment«You should open a location downtown» she replied«Maybe you should move to East Van»! I tried the blueberry Mojito that was on special, full of blueberries and a nice dark rum. As for the pizza I ordered the Margarita, which had ample cheese and the sauce was delicious; although there could have been less of it. Overall I’d recommend checking this place out if you are in the neighbourhood.

I was excited and with a lot of expectation. The dough and the oven are fantastic, but the choice of the ingredient is cheap and disappointing. I really like the bread roll which came as appetizer. I also ordered the appetizer with cured meat. It was coming straight from a tray of Safeway. The salami was also sweat, meaning it was not fresh. The place has potential, but for now I would not call it pizzeria, but bakery. I am Italian BTW

Everytime I eat here I’m disappointed, whether its an underdone pizza, a dish the wait staff forgot, or slow service. It never seems like there is a manager to keep an eye on quality control.

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Unilocal on November 9th and book marked it. The décor is simple wooden, clean and basic. Very casual. The place looks small, however, it can hold a decent amount of people. Our waitress Sarah was awesome. She appreciated my sense of odd humor. I ordered Pizza, however, wanted half packed right away for lunch and so that I didn’t over eat. Out of sight out of mind. She admitted that she has never heard of someone do that before. I am happy whenever I am the first. The box came unmarked, therefore, I decorated it. Nice ambiance that is low lit, however, not dark. No blaring music, therefore, it was easy to talk. Free wifi. Our Pizzas came out to our table in less than 10 minutes. As for the pizza it was amazing. Good ratio of cheese to sauce. This pizza would make a Ninja Turtle happy.

This was my second meal at Pizzeria Barbarella. Tonight we started with the half order of antipasto which included bread, cheeses, cured meats, olives and … Grape tomatoes? It was really good but the tomatoes seemed weird. It would be excellent with some pickled vegetables instead. The pizza was wonderful. We ordered two kinds: Hawaiian punch and salsiccia. The crust is really good and the toppings were flavourful, fresh and I really like the fresh spices — no fake artificial flavours or weird aftertaste. Just plain good. We came early and got a table right away but this is a popular spot. Great beer selection on tap, too.

I shared two pizzas amongst four people — the feature pizza which had turkey sausage and the funghi pizza. The funghi pizza was our favourite, it had some great flavours. The feature was not as flavourful as the funghi. Great thin crust pizza. Dinner pizzas are cut into four pieces. There were so many options that we wanted to try, so we’ll definitely be back to try the different pizzas.

It was about 5pm on a Sunday. I went with some friends. I’m not a huge pizza fan but I got the funghi pizza. It was amazing! This was a few weeks ago and I’m still thinking of it. The service was poor. There was maybe one other table and our server was distracted and not very attentive. She completely forgot the salad and took a bit longer than usual to take our desert order. Over all, I would go back for another funghi pizza. It was that good!

This place was all around great. Staff was super accommodating and the food was outstanding. Rebecca made it a most memorable date for us, as we were celebrating a special day. Spinach salad was delicious, as well was the balboa pizza. Great selection of beers too! You must go here if you are visiting the area. THANKYOUREBECCAANDPIZZABARBARELLA!!!

My boyfriend and I came here on a Tuesday night around 7pm because he read raving reviews on Unilocal.Upon arrival, we were seated immediately as the restaurant was only half full. To start, we both ordered caesars — the clamato juice is made in house(awesome that it’s free of preservatives). As for our entrée, we shared the Genova pizza but had to substitute the pesto sauce for a tomato-based sauce due to allergy reasons. Thankfully, making substitutions was not a problem at all. However, the reason I gave this restaurant a rating of 3 out of 5 stars is because unfortunately I’m not a fan of chewy pizza. On the bright side, unlike many other reviewers mentioned, we experienced great service.

It was hard to reach them on the phone on New Year’s Eve so we walked the couple blocks over to get takeout pizzas. They were pretty busy and the server warned us that there would be a 30 minute wait for pizza, which was fine. We sat at one of the tables against the wall and she brought us drinks, plus she gave us the wi-fi password, which was a nice way to pass the time. THEWAIT: After their 30 minute wait estimate, it ended up taking 60 minutes for our pizzas to come out! The server never said anything to us until we finally got them and apologized then for the wait. When we got back and looked in the boxes, they actually don’t even fit in the boxes and the edges had to be folded over! COST: $ 40 total for 1 beer and 2 small pizzas — dinner for three at home. Not worth the crazy wait! OVERALLREC: I wouldn’t recommend getting their pizzas to go, or coming on a busy night, which they don’t seem to handle too well. Our pizzas at home weren’t as great as they probably would’ve been fresh(the ones coming out of the kitchen for the tables really did look amazing!). * Amatriciana(tomato, bocconcini, aged mozzarella, house-made pancetta, red onions, fresh garlic, chili flakes, grana padano. $ 11 small) — 3.5 stars pic: This was legit spicy, which was the best part This had a pretty strong savory flavor as well. It’s hard to judge how this would’ve tasted fresh out of the oven vs. taking it home the way we did, but I didn’t think the tomato sauce was strong enough, and I found the crust to be a bit hard. * Marinara(tomato, fresh garlic, grand padding, extra virgin olive oil. $ 7 small) — 3.5 stars pic: This is a good classic thin crust pizza that is always safe order for me. I usually love the balance of a tangy tomato sauce, strong extra virgin olive oil, and a soft yet crisped crust. I found this one a bit disappointing as the tomato sauce didn’t seem quite so fresh(I didn’t get as much of that sharp tang) and there just wasn’t too much flavor from the cheese, garlic, or olive oil. Once again, this might be due to us getting this takeout. I did reheat my slice slightly in the toaster oven to get the right effect, but I know that can never be truly the same as getting it fresh at the restaurant! Menu:

This used to be out go to pizza place because of the excellent service and great quality of Nepalese pizza. I always loved the Margherita pizza and the happy servers here. We decided to give it a change since we heard of the change in ownership and that it wasn’t as good as before. Always give second chances right? The pizza was a few levels down w poor crusts and not high quality pizza. They messed up our order. But the worse was the service. I haven’t had such bad service in so long. The waitresses looked angry when serving us, and she never came to wipe up the mess the flights made, none of them could barely hold the hot pan and basically flipped the pizza on the table and almost on my hand as I was scrambling to father the finished dishes to hand to her. I’m not going back again and I feel sad that such a great place has degraded to this state. I would have given them 4 stars in the past. After trying the pizza it was 3 stars but after the service then it’s just sad at that point.
