Mr Mattress

I ended up here based on other Unilocal reviews and they were pretty much spot on. No frills, no sales pitches, after a brief company history blurb the guy just said «you want a good %#^*~in mattress, that right there is a good #+%+in mattress» — pointing at the «Bennett».
6 months later I still really like my mattress. And it was a great price.

Folks, it’s not pretty but this is where you should be buying your mattress. If you want a high quality mattress at a fair price this is the spot.
Having run the gamut of bed shopping in Vancouver from custom Gucci organic mattress, nay sleep system, in North Van to the regular old big box sleep stores we were very frustrated with trying to compare mattresses and figure out what is actually in them.
We were specifically looking for a spring mattress with a hefty amount of latex in the comfort top. In the majority of the stores as soon as latex was requested the only option was a solid slab of latex or latex over some form of foam. We really wanted the spring layer.
I found Mr. Mattress by googling «custom mattress Vancouver» in the hopes we could get something built. After a quick look on Unilocal,I figured it had to be good.
We had put a deposit on a very very expensive mattress at a big box store for half off the price. It had a minimal amount of latex and was, of course, a one sided bed.
While initially walking in to the store it was clear that this was a no frills store; speaking to Richard quickly let us know that this was a place that is serious about mattresses and very serious about customer service. After trying a few beds I dropped the «latex over pocket coil» card expecting to be steered to a solid latex mattress but I was presently surprised when he just took me to the mattress. Richard was really straightforward and cut through the marketing crap down to what really mattered. A few laughs and some honest talk about what was in the beds and we purchased a mattress for half the price of the half price ridiculous expensive mattress from the big box store.
Richard also offered to custom build a mattress when one of the specs in his stock builds didn’t equate to what we wanted. We opted not to do that, realizing that the stock design would work for us.
While we haven’t taken delivery of the mattress yet, should there be any problems we will update. I’m anticipating zero issues.
Nice to purchase a mattress from mattress experts rather than sales people!

We ordered our bed on a Sunday, we’re told it would be ordered Monday and that Mr. Mattress would receive it Friday. Mr. Mattress would then call us Friday to arrange Saturday delivery. We received no phone call Friday, however Mr. Mattress did call first thing at store open Saturday, confirmed they had the bed and would be delivering that day.
We arranged a three hour window and the caller confirmed that they would call prior to arrival at my building. There was no advance call but I happened to be right around the corner and was able to get them in with the new bed. They did deliver right in the middle of the 3 hour arranged time!
They removed my old mattress and topper and offered to get the bed onto the box springs which I declined as I wanted to rotate them, fix the bed skirt etc.
I am VERY happy with the bed. The date of manufacture indicates that it was made four days after we visited Mr. Mattress and placed the order. It has completely dealt with the heat issues of my memory foam oven of a bed! It is firm but comfortable and cool to sleep on!

This is the place to get your mattresses.
The husband and I decided it was time to ditch the futon for something less pain causing. It was the best decision we’ve made since the first time we banged on that futon. But now we are old and we just want a good nights sleep.
The guys at Mr. Mattress asked what we were looking for and showed us a couple of options within our price range. We picked out our new mattress and they delivered it the same day. The same day.
The husband isn’t waking up feeling as if he had a stroke in his sleep anymore.

Myself and my husband have been shopping for a new matress for a while now and yesterday we tried Mr. Matress because of all the great reviews they have online. We arrived close to closing and was greeted by Henry who was so friendly and never tried to rush us even thought its the end of their day. We told Henry exactly what we were looking for and he showed us 3 mattresses and gave us pillows to lie down to get comfortable with. He then left us alone to try out the mattresses and discuss among ourselves. I thought this was so professional as every other store you have a pushy sales person trying to sell you most expensive mattress in store while following you around. The manager Bob was called when we asked could we do a deal and he was lovely. Bob even carried the mattress down to our truck and secured it for us. There was also 2 lovely dogs Charmie and moonie in the office which we were allowed to pet. I have to say we were blown away with the service we received yesterday. When we were leaving Henry said «I wish you a very pleasant sleep». I know where I will be telling any of my friends to go if looking for a mattress. You guys are wonderful and made such a mundane task so enjoyable. thank you

Love it! My previous old mattress was sinking so bad. I had to get a new one! I love the bennett pocket coil! It was so comfortable and I don’t want to get off the bed. The delivery was super fast. I received it after 3 hours.

We just took delivery of our new King-​size mattress from Mr Mattress yesterday. This is the 4^th mattress/​mattress set I have purchased from this store, and my experiences with them have been consistently great.
Low key, low pressure, no frills, all add up to a great price, and a very easy mattress buying experience. The delivery was made right on time, and we are very happy with the quality of the mattress we purchased.
If you are a value shopper, you will find really good quality mattresses here, at a very fair price.

I have wanted to write this review for some time now. A few months ago I needed a new mattress, the one I was sleeping on, had a spring sticking out of the side. I have lived around the corner from Mr. Mattress for 12 years now. I knew that when it was time to buy a new mattress I would try these guys.
As others here have stated, it is a no frills place with some crazy scary rickety stairs to climb up to the showroom. The salesman was knowledgeable and I did end up paying 200 hundred dollars more than I wanted to, but, he did sway me to a hotel mattress that he claimed will last me longer than my last one (only time will tell).
My final comment would be if you live in East Vancouver, and need a new mattress this is the place to try. I really like the fact that they sell no-​flip mattresses and yes, they do last longer than pillow-​tops. I should also comment that they delivered that mattress to me on the same day.

Great place to buy a mattress. If your looking for honest knowlagable service and good quality this is the place. And the prices are bang on too.
They sell only locally made mattresses! That should matter people!
Its a no frills place, family owned, so they really do care about your business.
My parents bought a brand new trump bed from the brick not even a year ago, and the least to say it isnt holding up like they were promised, even with the extended warranty they purchased (whata scam). Those places just tell you what u want to hear to sell you on it.
Here They received great service, and answered our MANY questions. And got the bed they wanted & delivered the same day!
Dont waste your money being scammed into buying one at the major brand name stores, and give it a chance here. Ill be recommending it to my friends.

I just wanted to say a BIG thanks to Brian and Richard. This is my fifth purchase from Mr Mattress and I have always been extremely happy with the product and service. My wife and I decided it was to get a King size bed since we have been together 22 years and need our own space. We picked out the Harlow King and Brian had it delivered the same day. The only mattress store in town still selling flip mattresses. There was absolutely no pressure or trying to upsell me into an expensive mattress, if anything the man working tried to downsell me.

I was, at first, wary of the plethora of five-​star online reviews (especially those from accounts with few or no other reviews to their credit). Had Mr. Mattress been «astroturfing?» I needed a mattress anyway, though, and stopped by their showroom where I realized exactly why they have so many glowing reviews.
This is where Ron Swanson would buy a mattress. Channel your inner Ron and choose this place over the sleek, alluring Sleep Country showroom with its distinct lack of wooden splinters and rickety staircases. Mr. Mattress has eliminated frills you didn’t even realize were frills (graphic design, marketing, more than one employee working at a time) and passed the savings onto you.
I joke, but upon stepping into this enchanting warehouse in a bad/​industrial neighbourhood, you will immediately realize that the Mr. Mattress business model has a lot to recommend it. The one guy working there was also the co-​owner. We said what we were looking for (a mix-​n-​match queen sized mattress, no boxspring), he showed us where they were and explained what was meant by «mix-​n-​match» (one panel may be from a $ 1200 bed, one panel may be from an $ 1800 bed, a bed using one of each is only $ 600) and we were then left to try it out.
As many of the other reviews have pointed out, this is one of the few places that you can buy two-​sided mattresses. I have been told by the Internet that a two-​sided mattress is a good thing, as it allows you to flip it and get about twice as much use out of it before it gets too saggy and messes up your spine.
This gets to the main reason Mr. Mattress has five stars on Unilocal and another five stars in my heart: there is, as one of the signs says, zero bull excrement. We were never, ever subjected to any sales pressure whatsoever. There was never a «sale» going on which would save us $ 500 if we made a decision TODAY (!!!).We were welcome to try the absolute cheapest bed, with only a small warning that they weren’t quite as comfortable as we might like. We never had an extended warranty, a store-​brand mattress cover, or a hypoallergenic pillow foisted on us. We were never asked to sign up for a newsletter or give them our email address. There were no buzzwords: no «European Quasi-​Firm BeautyNight Granite PillowSide» to compare to a «Semi-​Pillow BeautyFirm Reverse Coil» until the mind melts into a thin goo and trickles out the ears.
Best of all, delivery was a mere $ 20. The guys showed up the next day, right on time, and since then we’ve been sleeping like a couple of babies who got into their parents’ Ambien prescription.
If you don’t want to have to haggle with a greasy salesman, if you don’t want to have marketing buzzwords shoved down your throat, if you don’t want to be upsold and pressured and told that this HOT HOT DEAL will evaporate if you walk out the door, go to Mr. Mattress.

We bought a restwell mattress from Mr. Mattress and have been quite happy with it. No pressure, reasonable markup, and they give you the knowledge to make an informed decision. They sell great locally made mattresses.

We’re so thankful that we came across Mr Mattress online. We received excellent advice and service from people we could trust enabling us to buy an excellent mattress in one visit. We are very happy with our Spring Air Highwood Firm purchase. My back pain was gone after the first week. It’s still gone a month and a half later. It took one week to break the mattress in. The pocket coils provide good side sleeping support. I would highly recommend this store.

I was seduced by the NO «NO» Flip and sign and pulled into a dark alley (it was dark outside) parked the car, climbed up a steep set of stairs into a dimly lit showroom with lots of mattresses leaning against walls. This is a No Frills Showroom.
As I walked to the back of the store I saw two guys off to my right drinking beers in office with a desk a couple of computers and some exercise equipment (yes exercise equipment!). The guy behind the computer says hello and shows me some 2 sided mid range pocket coil mattresses. The Mattresses seem to fairly priced. Bob the manager the guy drinking the beer was cafeful not to overstated or understate his product.

Bought a great bed at a great price with no hassles or sales pressure.
Couldn’t be happier!
