Kon Auto

Went there multiple times with my Toyota. Cheap, knowledgeable and reliable. Hard to understand what mechanic is saying. Make sure you call on the same day before you go, as this is a very busy place. Once I had to return because the place was busy even though I made appointment earlier.

I gave Kon lots of chances. Every time I went the price ended up being much higher than he told me it would be. I understand this when stuff actually needs to be done, but since things were consistently MUCH more expensive every time I went I decided to try a new mechanic. At the new mechanic he tells me what’s going on, tells me a price, and sticks to that price. No surprises. I probably end up paying 20% more for an apples to apples repair at the new shop, but it’s worth it because of all the random charges that Kon always ends up adding. I recommend skipping Kon and finding a shop that’s trustworthy and you can trust will stand by their repairs.

Kon fixed up my wife’s 2008 Impreza with OEM parts for at least 30% less than the dealership. He sure doesn’t hold back from showing you what’s wrong and then how he fixed it. The shop may lack the shine of a dealership service area but as far as I can tell the work is top notch.

I had my car at a local groupon oil change place (ill spare the business!)recently. There were some very sad sounds coming from my car. The establishment told me they would look at it and give me an «estimate» for 85 $$. I thought for a moment, then drove off to trusted Kon! He had it diagnosed, fixed and ready in no time… for 90 $ after tax! I thought by the sound of my Volvo convertible it would be closer to $ 1000!
Is it my imagination or is Kon’s English getting better! He is honest & runs an organized bustling business all from that scribbled in crazy loose leaf binder of his.
You will have enough money saved for a nice trip somewhere hot if you skip the dealership & give Kon a call.

Our Loyale wagon has been in our family since my folks bought it off the lot brand new back in 92. I use to be mortified rolling up in it to high school, but now that she’s been handed down to me, I love her like a kid — and so finding Kon Auto when I moved to Vancouver was like finding the perfect manny to look after her.
When ol’ Betty White started to rattle like crazy at 285,000K, I thought this might be the end of her, but had to get her checked out because I just wasn’t ready to lose her. Originally I was going to take it to the dealership because we had a great relationship with the dealer we got her from originally, but decided to check out Unilocal and figured we’d give Kon a try.
I know nothing about cars, but when we took her in, he said it was something to do with parts associated with the axel (can’t remember exactly). When I looked up buying the parts, I got quoted $ 1300-​$ 1600 to fix — not justifiable. Kon did it all within half a day for $ 400 and took the time to show us the absolutely mangled pieces after. Totally impressed, and Betty has purred ever since.

After reading all the great reviews I had my newly-​purchased 96 volvo towed to Kon Auto for a once over. I was not impressed with the service that was done. I told Kon that this car is a new purchase and asked for a full inspection to let me know what I would need fixed. I ended up getting a new battery, oil change, and new alternator. When I got the car back, radio wasn’t working because he didn’t enter a code that he didn’t mention until I returned to ask him about it, the service light was still on, the ABS light was showing an error code, the heated seats weren’t working, half the radio lights were out, the washer fluid was empty is what i’ve noticed in the hour i’ve driven the car. Kon could have done a more thorough look, or elected not to take the car.

In the parlance of today’s urban youth, this guy, I believe the term is, the «bomb».
He’s fair, nice, very, VERY reasonable and can also do scheduled maintenance. Cause let’s be honest… if you go to the dealership for your maintenance, you’re like Homer when Moe shoved that crayon back up his nose for the 2^nd time.

Amazing service, so nice, and has done some quick things for me for free. He is a great, honest, trustworthy guy.

great honest mechanic. fast efficient & will always think about the cost to the customer first. I went there a few years back for a muffler issue. he fixed it for just over 100 $ & told me I needed to save up about 350 $ for my cv joints. (stated they were fine for a few more months but needed replacing, later) I did just that and returned almost a year later and they cost me 375 $ including new bushel? (Honda quoted me 780 $ before taxes) I was so happy with his honestly and pricing! I feel very comfortable going in there as a woman with no knowledge of how cars work. I know for a fact that kon will explain, work hard & not try to clean out my wallet. go check him out great guy.

Kon Auto is a must for subaru and volvo owners. this place is beyond reasonably priced and kon makes sure you are satisfied with the work. it’s a pain to get there, and once you drop your car off, you are hooped, but the service is super fast, very reasonably priced and very well done.

So I took my car to Honda on Kingsway to get my starter fixed and they tell me my clutch is going, and it’s gonna cost me
$ 1500 to fix it. I decided to look for some one cheaper, and two friends told me about Kon Auto. As well I looked him up on Unilocal and he had good reviews. So I decided to give him a try. I call him up, since I had my own parts, he was only gonna charge me 380 + tax. So I take my car in, and he checks it out. It wasn’t my clutch at all, it was fine! It turned out my front left control arm needed to be replaced! Man am I happy I went there! The shop is a mess and it looks very unorganized, but I’m guessing that’s why the rates are so good!

Kon is great. Super nice and always trying to keep it as cheep as possible. Showed me all the work he did.
I thought my CV joint needed to be changed and my engine light was on. Turned out neither of them cost me anything. He fixed my leaking back breaks and fixed the front light that was burning the bulb ever time. $ 215

This guy is sweet, Kon is like 75, use to be a Volvo shop manager and will do your scheduled maintenance as if you were showing up to the dealership.
He is a bit hard to understand but he knows what he’s talking about, likes to get things done fast as its usually done the same day for a third of the price of the dealership.
Make sure your clear with him as best you can and just say ok to him gettin’ shit done!
