The sanwiches are good, the bread is also quite nice, fast and efficient preparation, but the over eager greeters are really annoying

This location is further from my office, but it is worth waiting in line to order. Best to come right at open to get your order or after the lunch rush. Downside with ordering after lunch is that they may run out of what you want so make sure to order and get out early! The lamb is amazing!

I had the porchetta sandwich! The meat in the sandwich was juicy and crispy! It was perfect with the salsa verde and mustard. Personally, it was a bit bready for me but still good. The vibe of the place is great with communal tables!

The original meat and bread… been coming here since day one when the owners worked the counter. Awesome owners and concept still to this day. They’ve done a great job expanding the amount of customers they can service at 2 locations and an AMAZING job training the team to give the same level of service that they set from the beginning. As for the food, it’s great. The sandwiches are awesome but I think the salads are the unsung hero. Everything made fresh(I see them starting each morning at 6−7am!) and everything is a new creative concept here. Just go here. Order. Eat. Done. There is no reason not to meat and bread it up!

I had such a great experience here! I popped in for a late-ish lunch, and there was a server at the door to greet me. He asked if I’d been in before(yes, but not this location) and guided me to the right spot for ordering. Similar to the other locations you can see your sandwich being prepared here, which is super cool. I ended up ordering the meatball sandwich, extra spicy, from a guy who should probably have been much more stressed than he was! After a crazy lunch rush, he was still smiley and pleasant — very impressive! It was an easy process to get my food, and it was deeeelicious! A nice heat to it, and giant balls of meaty goodness cut in half so they don’t escape the sandwich! The cheese added a truly decadent touch. Not something I could eat every day, as it was very rich, but it was a brilliant treat!

Nosh and Nibble came here solo and had the seasonal Turducken Sandwich($ 10.50). Despite what their website says, this was not $ 9, but it did come with jerk gravy, crispy plantain, ginger cranberry aioli, and fresh herbs. The turducken was chicken stuffed into duck stuffed into turkey. The chicken and duck were juicy and tender but the turkey(what wasn’t covered in gravy) was much drier and unfortunately the biggest chunk. The plantains had a nice crunch but the gravy was much less spicy than the staff member managing the line made it out to be. As with the regular porchetta sandwich, this came with a dollop of the house mustard which had a good tangy taste which pairs well with the ciabatta. There’s also some festive cranberry sauce that goes into this sandwich which added a subtle sweetness. This was a lot to say about a sandwich but when it comes to Meat and Bread there’s a lot to know about a $ 10.50 sandwich(that is around Hubbub’s price range).

Finally made it down to a Meat and Bread location(Gastown), today for a late(2pm) lunch. Still a long lineup even so late into the lunch hours, but there was still seating at the long communal table so turnaround appears to be quick. Monday Special: Peace Country Kashmiri Lamb, Garlic Aioli, Fried Onions, Cabbage Slaw, Cilantro($ 9.50) Probably better hotter but I had to sneak it out of the place to take a pic at VCC since no one else was taking pics there. The chewy-crusted bread was OK but chewing it too fast made my jaw ache. Yeah, it’s that chewy. Lamb was tender for being pulled lamb, but otherwise a bit on the dry side, but helped by the aioli. Weak on flavours of garlic, fried onions, and cilantro. But lamb was tasty and very flavourful, easily making up for the shortfall. If you think of this as a $ 10 burger with no side, it comes in on-par with most restaurant or gourmet burgers. Plus counter service means no tip really necessary, so it works out to a medium or light meal(depending on your appetite) for $ 10, which can be really rare these days, especially if you’re looking for something tasty and not ordinary.

I almost passed on this place since I wanted a falafel but my daughter convinced me to give it a try. We were guided by the staff, to the Poncetta. Not disappointed but when I saw that pork roast I wanted all that crispy skin! All of it ! However we went with three other sandwiches : Lamb special — Yummy Meatball — that’s a spicy meatball Grilled cheese — skip it, it’s cheesy alright but don’t waste space when you have other great sandwiches. Oh and the potato salad, I need to have this recipe! I was trying to dissect all the ingredients but not sure if I have them all. Enjoy! It’s casual but loud. We didn’t bother with a before picture but rather an after picture.

A friend recommended that we try this place and get their famous porchetta sandwich. So glad we did! The sandwich had juicy pork with crunchy pork belly and this green sauce that cut the fat. Served with mustard on the side. The place itself is really cute. You order and then take a seat. There’s pretty quick turnover so even if it seems busy you can get a seat right away.

After hearing so many good things about this place, I finally went there for a weekend lunch. Their specialty seems to be their Porchetta sandwich for $ 9.5. I have a mixed feeling about this sandwich. The porchetta itself was good, crispy on the outside and quite moist on the inside. However, the whole sandwich itself was too dry and bland for me. Lacking vegetables(you have to buy a separate salad) with dry bread without enough sauce, the sandwich was just an OK.

What the heck? So I hear the about their specialty porchetta sandwich. I’m super excited to try it! I’ve got a 10 hour layover at the airport, so I go directly to the joint to try this supposedly delicious meat concoction. I arrive at 2pm ready to get my meat and bread on. Then I see it, those dreaded words«SOLDOUT.» Really?!? At 2pm on a Thursday? Arrrghh. It’s like opening a present and getting a lump of coal. I try their special of the day instead, well that was really the only option left. I don’t recall what was all in it. I remember a salsa verde for sure. It was a good sandwich. The bread was nice and crusty, substantial filling. The place was trendy and open, all the workers were friendly. Seating is quite limited, there were some benches out front as well you can do some good people watching. I probably won’t get a chance to come back. I certainly would if I’m in the area again.

It’s a curse and a blessing to work near this place. You could go here for lunch everyday and have something different to eat, but it will always be objectively delicious. I probably go here twice a month for lunch, and I usually go when they have an especially tasty-sounding daily special.(Although their porchetta is a classic.) If you have a big appetite, adding one of their daily sides to your order– either a soup or salad– is typically a good accompaniment to your sandwich. It’s usually a treat to eat-in(if you’re lucky/early enough to grab seats), because they tend to add a nice dollop of sauce/mustard(depending on what you order) to dip your sandwich in on the boards they serve your food on. So good!

Several friends recommended that we try this place while in Vancouver. Crazy busy but very organized queue with a nice guy at the front who explains how the line works and wait times(approx 8 min not bad at 1pm on a Wed). Of course we have to order the porchetta sandwich. Watching the guy slice that roast and combine it with that delicious crunchy roast piggy skin, how could you not enjoy it with salsa verde and a dollop of mustard on a wooden board!!! And that bun… Soft interior and freshly heated up to crispy crust goodness… Oh my… Sure wish there was one in Toronto! Sadly will have to satisfy my craving the next time I’m in Vancouver…

Quick service and the sandwich was good. The meatball sandwich was good but messy to eat. The porchetta sandwich was okay… A bit bland. The bread was good nice and crispy.

Porchetta(Noun): Awesome sandwich in a ciabatta roll with a delicious pork belly and loin porchetta well seasoned and flavored. They crisp up the skin and chop it finely into crispy magic dust and place it back into your sandwich with thin trimmings of the pork belly and loin. Simple and delicious.

Finally! A restaurant in Vancouver that plays GOOD music. Everywhere I have been out here so far plays oldies(from the 90’s, that is). Of course I find the best one on my last day in BC. This spot definitely gives off the hipster vibes, hence the good tunes. I had their daily special which was a pork sandwich. If I go to heaven when I die, I hope to God they serve sandwiches from this place. I was amazed at the flavor and various ingredients that went into it. The presentation was elegant; now that I think about it, I should have taken a photo! If you go to Vancouver, this place is a 100% must try before you leave. It’s f*cking delicious.

Been here countless of times already. Every single time I come here I am never disappointed with a delicious filled sandwich of meat. Recently, was here again with a coworker, and it is always great to be here. The line up might be coming out of establishment, but it goes by really fast. I love the mustard they make here, it is so delicious and so spicy. The regular Porchetta is what I usually come here for. But usually, they have specials on a weekly basis. I had their Veal once, curry chicken, and spicy beef. They are all just as delicious, and I would recommend anyone to drop by for an amazing time with food in your person.

I had bookmarked Meat & Bread ages ago but was never in the area during business hours. So when I had a day off and was going to be in the area it was a no brainer to go to Meat & Bread for lunch! I had the porchetta sandwich and my boyfriend got the meatball sandwich. I loved the crunchy bits in the porchetta sandwich and the meat was so tender and juicy! The meatball sandwich was equally as good. I was really impressed with how moist the meatballs were! The bread was also very soft and held up against the fillings in each sandwich. The next time I’m in the area during their business hours I’m there!

Earlier this year, Meat & Bread opened its first location in Seattle on Capitol Hill. And they will be expanding again as they will be opening another location in South Lake Union. Over Memorial Day weekend, I was visiting Vancouver and decided to make a visit to the original Meat & Bread location in Gastown to see if visiting the Seattle location was worthwhile. The restaurant interior is rather straightforward. There is a sandwich assembly line that is setup to be streamlined and a huge communal table setup for customers dining in to enjoy their meal. Like the space, the menu is simple. There are a few sandwiches to choose from including a daily special, a couple sides, desserts and drinks including beer, cider, soda and wine. The signature sandwich at Meat & Bread is their porchetta($ 9). Interestingly the sandwich prices at this location are lower than the Capitol Hill shop and we are talking CAD here. At current currency exchange rates, the porchetta is under $ 7USD in Vancouver whereas the same sandwich in Seattle is $ 10. Since it was my first time here, I decided to play it safe and order the porchetta sandwich. I was wondering if it matched up to the same name sandwich at Salumi in Seattle. Alas, the answer is no. But that is because this porchetta sandwich is different from the one at Salumi. The Salumi version is like a pork stew on a bun. Whereas the porchetta at Meat & Bread resembles Chinese roast park. They even give you mustard on the side. Don’t get me wrong, the sandwich is good. The pork is crispy and tender. But if you go to a good Chinese BBQ shop, you could make a sandwich similar to this at home. As for service, I would have to say the staff here is very friendly and keep this shop in tidy shape amidst the flood of customers that come in. At the current sandwich pricing in Seattle, I am in no hurry to try the Meat & Bread on Capitol Hill when I can get a sandwich at Salumi at similar pricing. However if I am in Vancouver, I would visit this Meat & Bread again because the service here is good, ambiance is pleasant and the currency exchange rates make the sandwiches here a nice deal.

I arrived here about 10 minutes before they opened and there was already a line outside. I got the experience them pulling out fresh bread and porchetta right out of the oven. I ordered the PORCHETTASANDWICH and GRILLEDCHEESE. The Porchetta was basically just meat and bread. I see where they get their name. Oh and some salsa verde as well. It was served with house mustard which added a nice little touch. The meat was juicy and had bits of the crunchy rinds. The perfect grilled cheese has just the right amount of melt with the bread golden brown with just the right amount of crunch. This one really hit all the marks. There were strings of red onions that gave a nice flavor to the cheese. The house mustard and hot red sauce went really well with the cheese. I don’t think I ever had those two sauce combinations with my grilled cheese but I will from now on.
