Sushi is cheap and all but they’re sneaky and charge you for tea even when you don’t order it. They act like it’s complimentary but it shows up on the bill later. Not cool, man.

We’ve been going here for years. Good sushi. Cheap. Fast. Friendly. The kitchen seems clean. The bathrooms could be cleaner. I usually get cooked rolls and a box, just to be safe. They had some serious health infractions earlier in 2015, but looks like they have cleaned up their act as of Dec-2015:

Good choice for really cheap sushi on the drive especially with the $ 6.25 deal where you can pick from a list of rolls. I ordered to-go and got a BC roll, spicy shrimp roll and negitoro maki. Seafood has a bit of a fishy taste, the rice is quite mushy and it is nothing impressive but a good price. Also got the spicy salmon sashimi and it was a small portion and did not have that korean-style flavour.

Cheap delicious sushi! House roll was really good, and bento box was really nice. About 14 bucks in the end but was worth it

Finally tried this place after going to Sushi Tang everytime I had a sushi craving. The prices and combo options were surprisingly great. There were a lot of choices that I liked, which I find rare for many sushi restaurants. Service was good, albeit their English needed work. Not bad for a Chinese-run sushi establishment. Why the low rating? Their avocado wasn’t just spotted. It was completely black on the outside on most sides. It clearly wasn’t fresh and it was glaringly obvious. They really shouldn’t have served it, but the fact that they did makes you wonder what other rotten ingredients they’re willing to serve and possibly mask. I have no faith in their quality control and I can’t recommend that you come here. Save yourself the trouble. Head up the street and eat at Sushi Tang. If it’s Sunday, then Togo Sushi wasn’t bad(Skytrain concourse).

Cheap sushi and lunch boxes. Decent amount of food but I usually only go here if I’m broke and really craving sushi because it is very average.

We’ve been coming to Kojima Sushi for quite some time. Discovered in while walking down Commercial Drive looking for a place to eat. The service is always friendly, but sometimes gets slow when the place is busy. But they try to check on you often and are quick to refill your tea or water. The sushi quality is pretty good. The $ 6.95 for 3 rolls & miso soup is a no-brainer. It’s a great value and something we get whether we are eating in or taking out! The Captain Crunch roll is pretty awesome! Kojima is a great neighbourhood sushi joint. Quality is good you get generous portions at very reasonable prices.

Went to this place because kishimoto was full. Ordered the 3 sushi roll combo with miso soup. I ordered a spicy tuna cone, negitoro roll, and a California roll. All of my rolls/cones were somewhat warm. the raw fish did not seem fresh at all. But I was really hungry so I just kept eating. When I got to my fourth piece of sushi I saw a black thing fly across the floor towards the table beside me. At first I thought I was imagining it so I continued to look in that direction, I then saw it run back to where it came from and saw that it was a mouse. I told the server and the server told me that he would tell the manager. That was it, I lost my appetite and the server did not come back to tell me what his manager said and when I went to pay the manager didn’t even mention anything about the mouse. I will not be returning and hope no one goes there either.

My local sushi joint. I eat in every so often and order take-out quite a bit. Portions are generous, food is fresh and prepared in a timely manner, and prices are great. Sure, I’ve had better sushi but also had to pay much more. For what it is, Kojima is awesome!

We were hanging out a nearby brewery and had a craving for some good Vancouver sushi, so we headed to The Drive to see what we could find. We ended up here at Kojima and were drawn in by their special($ 6.95 for three rolls, including miso soup). We were quickly seated by a very friendly server, and after we decided what we wanted(we ordered two of the combos, plus a few extra pieces of nigiri) the food arrived quickly. The miso soup was hot and delicious, and the rolls were interesting and flavorful. The nigiri was very fresh. I have no complaints about this place, and would definitely go back again if we are in the area. While it was not the most exceptional sushi experience I’ve ever had, I thought it was good food for a great value.

Cheap and cheerful! This place looks like a dive when you walk in, but the food is pretty darn good for the price. Less than $ 10 for a bento box with large slices of sashimi, tempura which included a prawn, salad and a main. Or $ 7 for your choice, that’s right, YOUR choice of 3 rolls plus a miso soup. None of this ‘set rolls with no substitutions’ business. Professionals, locals on a lunch break and college kids alike seemed satisfied around us. For a quick meal on the go, this is a good spot to choose.

It’s good value and the staff are friendly! It’s not pretentious, expensive or trendy. However, this place serves a wide variety of options that is reasonably priced. The portion size is generous, but not too much.

*No Frills* A bunch of us went after a friend had organized us. There’s nothing upscale about this little place but it’s decent, clean, good service, and extremely affordable. They did separate bills for our group –nice– and mine came to $ 10 after having 2x Ebi, 1x shrimp Sunomono, and 1x large Dynamite roll. Good little spot for a quick and inexpensive bite if you’re on the Drive. I’ve paid a lot more in other places for the same quality. Service was good and we will definitely go back.

I’ll preface this review with saying I like good sushi, it has to be fresh but by no means expensive. As a benchmark I’ll reference Sushiyama. My opinion about this place? If you like mediocre sushi at a decent price then you’ll be ok with this place otherwise I’d stay away.

I found myself on the Drive one Friday evening needing a quick pre-dinner snack. Kishimoto had a massive line so I headed north until something piqued my interest — or until I couldn’t ignore my stomach grumblings anymore. Kojima looked to be almost full so I went in. I was also drawn in by the sign advertising $ 7 special for three different rolls or cones of your choice with a miso soup. Wallet-friendly? Check. Once inside, I perused the menu which had some decent options. As with many sushi joints, there’s a big section dedicated to «specialty» rolls — you know, those giant rolls that have a weird combination of anything and everything in and on them. I decided to go with an erotic roll and a sunomono. The roll was basically a california roll with yam tempura inside, and salmon and avocado ontop. There wasn’t anything sexy about it. I wasn’t really blown away by the freshness but I did enjoy the yam tempura inside. My dining companions ended up with the chicken and beef bento boxes. These were pretty average in taste and size but for $ 10, you can’t really complain. The restaurant itself is relatively bigger given the surrounding shops. There’s seating for 30 – 40 people and adequately decorated. Service was friendly but a little slow as expected on a busy Friday evening. Kojima is a good place if you’re looking for a quick cheap meal. Nothing really stood out to me and given the other choices along the Drive, I probably won’t be back.

You know what, this place gave me food poisoning when I went back. My roommate and I were so stoked after our first visit we ran back for more, we both had explosive pee out your bum moments shortly after our visit. I dunno guys, you are taking your colons ability to produce solid things if you eat the sashimi here. WILLNOTEVERGOBACK.

Cheap sushi. Three rolls and miso soup for $ 6.25? Yes please. Kojima was very accommodating to our large party of 10. The servers were nice and continuously came to refill our waters. Sushi though not amazing was good. The weird thing was we were never served tea and I’ve always been served tea in every sushi restaurant I’ve ever been in. This might be because of the hot weather but I still found it odd. If you really need so sushi and are in a smaller group of say 4 or so around the drive this is probably the perfect place for you!

Cheap sushi. Friendly service. A good selection that will not spin your head and confuse you. Their oyako don is pretty decent, specially with extra meat. However, really awful rolls sometimes; too loose and too much rice, with ingredients not chopped correctly. Happened to me once or twice that I was there, but was annoying. Inconsistent food. It has to do with bad rolling, I guess. Sometimes I’m full with an 8 piece option, sometimes I need another tray. When I had a Bento Box, one of the Nigiris had an awful fish smell going on. Never mentioning the fact that the slice of salmon was the size of a newborn’s arm. I’m grateful for the big portion, but I needed a butchers knife for that, not chop sticks!

Food on the Drive is quite abundant. Right down to the 2 sushi joints literally across the street from each other. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as in the metered spots out front. The layout is designed to maximize the seating, at the expense of the waiting area. Everyone piles into the narrow«corridor» behind the front door. There is also only 1 set of doors, so the place freezes whenever someone enters or leaves. There is a sushi special, which is 3 items and a miso soup for $ 6.25. Most standard rolls are there, as well as cones(there is no nigiri for this one). Not a bad deal, as the pieces are decent sized but not huge. You’ll be mostly satisfied, but don’t expect to be stuffed. BC roll — uses cooked salmon as opposed to skin. Not bad. Chopped scallop roll — nice minced pieces. No fishy smell. Dynamite roll — light on the batter(for the shrimp). Again, decent tasting. I also ordered a seared tuna. Oh this is good. Nice juicy pieces, with no batter. Special mention here. Guess the portion could be just a *bit* bigger, but this can be said for lot of dishes out there. Overall I was quite happy, and will definitely be back. Recommended.

For what it is, Kojima nails in. And then wraps it in rice and seaweed and served it to you fast and tasty for like $ 6.25. First of all, yes they have a crazy sushi deal. But venturing outside of their(comparatively good) special selections, you find things like the mango and avocado roll, or spicy pumpkin cream cheese roll, which are also cheap and awesome In fact, most things I’ve had here are cheap and awesome. And that’s why I keep coming back.
