Service: 3⁄5 we were seated quickly but had to ask for tea, never saw them after that. Sushi: −10÷5 if you told me the sushi was actually bought at a gas station I would believe you. Other foods: 3⁄5 regular, nothing phenomenal Price(Value): 3⁄5 decent

The service was absolutely terrible. The servers were rude, completely forgot a full meal, and were unapologetic for their mistakes. We had to ask quite a few times and wait till half of our food came to get a glass of water. The servers pretty much dropped the dishes on the table and ran away before anyone could even make eye contact. One even blatantly ignored me when I said excuse me a few times for the purpose of giving back a dish we hadn’t ordered. They should be quite ashamed of the service they gave. I hope the owners of this restaurant do something about their customer service because the food was good.

Took my friends and I 10 minutes until we could get a server’s attention just for some water. We all ordered 3 different sushi dishes from different parts of their menu, and we all got some form of food poisoning. When we paid they did not even give us the right amount of change after entering it into a calculator. Poor food quality and worse service.

Let me start off by warning you not to go here. The food quality is not very good. One of the worst I’ve encountered in Vancouver. Me and my friend ordered the«Love Boat», so called because it comes with two of everything, as seen in the picture on the menu. It arrived with one miso soup. I’ll say that again: In a menu item called Love Boat, with two of everything to share, you only get one miso soup. Now here’s the best part: It comes with only one each of most of the sashimi. When I asked about this, and how the picture showed two of each, the manager on duty said the picture was wrong, and they have to update their menu. I asked for a knife to cut the sashimi pieces in half. How outrageous is that? As well, my friend asked for a substitution on her bento box as she doesn’t like crab. It arrived with the crab. When we called the waitress over to ask about it, she said yes she knew, and they were remaking it. Interesting. She knew it was wrong but didn’t say anything to us? If you’re looking for a good sushi place in Vancouver, skip this one.

I have been here a number of times, but this was my first visit in quite a while. I won’t be back. It’s really gone downhill. Service was just Ok. But the Sushi wasn’t much better than what you can get in the cooler at Safeway.

If it’s sushi you’re looking for, stay away from here. So bad we had to ask if it was made by a machine. Spicy tuna roll was indeed a roll, but any spice didn’t feel it and tuna, didn’t taste fresh like other Japanese restaurants. Save your money and continue walking down Robson street.

My partner and I went here the other day and ordered a few items on their menu. We got an order of salmon sashimi, a dinner box, and a chicken donburi. The salmon sashimi was decent and fresh but the dinner box and donburi were pretty weak. The«fruit salad» was just a sad. It was a slice of an apple. The Donburi was definitely cooked with burnt oil and tasted like what burnt oil tastes like. I honestly knew going in that I wasn’t going to get the best and so I didn’t expect much, but it could have been better.

I dropped by Junsei River Japanese Restaurant for a quick lunch. It was around 12 and my friend and I ended up coming here, not because we knew anything about this place we came here cuz it wasn’t busy! I guess the food was ok. Nothing really special about this place. I had the bento box 3. Guess it was ok. Service was quick. We got our meals pretty fast, but I noticed there was no tea refills. Our waitress was running around like a chicken with her head cut off! I guess she had a lot of tables to manage. Spreading herself that thin just means all her customers suffer. Would I come back? Hmmm… I guess if all the other restaurants around are stacked up, I may come back.

Got the #5 Bento box as takeout. It’s a terrific deal, tasty and a nice variety of foods. Plenty, too, I didn’t finish. For under $ 11. I’ll be back, as it’s hard to find good lunch deals downtown.

Meh. Cuz I found many time some fruits flies hanging out. The service is good tough. The sushi are Ok. I am coming back cuz it’s close to my place. I am not eating overthere anymore tough. Now I order for to go. The miso soup can be a little bit more… salty… .

As the stars show, I’m a fan. Right down the street from where I was staying, I stopped twice for take-out in under a week. A good amount of food in the specials, and a good price too. The complimentary tea while I waited was a nice treat too! The staff were friendly, and the food very fast. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but for this price(and location), I’ll be back.

horrible. I got the chicken bento and my boyfriend got a couple rolls, one with cooked salmon in it. everything about it was awful. everything tasted as if it was prepared ahead of time(probably was). the chicken tasted stale and hard, and the california rolls that came with it were super salty. i’ve had pre-packaged sushi from Safeway that tasted better. not only was the taste below par, but my boyfriend got super sick from it. as soon as he tasted his rolls he knew they tasted funny and said, «if i’m to get sick, its going to be from this.» and he did. never again.

Great place for a quick bento and cheap, fresh sashimi! My takeout looked beautiful and tasted great! Checkout the price: $ 10.99 for Cali roll, BC roll, Dynamite roll, and Chopped scallop roll. Can’t beat that and quality too!

2.5 stars. Just your average sushi restaurant. Nothing special about it, but the location is great, and the price makes my wallet happy. I went with a friend and ordered the chirashi bowl(large for $ 12.50). It tasted fresh, and was way more food than I could eat. The waitresses were pleasant, and we got our food quickly, even during the busy dinner rush. I’d come here again if I were in the neighbourhood, even knowing there are much better options a bit farther away.

Hanging in Vancouver for a couple days with girlfriends and after hours of shopping they wanted sushi. So we set off to find a sushi place and came across Junsei. Between the four of us we sampled Bento Boxes, Dynamite Rolls, Sashimi and some other items I can’t recall. Everything was bliss. Fresh and delicious. The Bento boxes were massive. No complaints on service or location and I was thrilled they gave us a booth with a plug in so I could recharge my phone. My salmon sashimi was delicious. Great little place just off Robson.

We went in on a busy night without much of a wait. Looked at the menu and ordered a bit off the Robata menu for sharing and some sushi. Can’t remember exactly what we got but none of it was memorable, either good or bad. Our service is what really ruined the place for us though, she was snooty and acted like we weren’t good enough to be in there at one of her glorious tables. It was nothing in particular, just the way she sort of rolled her eyes at anything we ordered as she scoffed and walked away… That being said, I am a firm believer that you can’t judge a place for service unless it’s the owner or every employee. Service job turnover is usually fast and people are people, so with the amount of staff it takes to run a place the management is bound to pick a few bad apples. We can only hope she isn’t there anymore. Since we live so close we will probably be back someday. But there’s no rush…

though it’s in a trendier part of east Robson where lots of action taking place, food-wise along, wouldn’t be a repeat unless you’re looking for value. Ordered the beef teriyaki bento box, so the typical, choice of maki roll, the california, rice, salad. Clean interior. prob a good place for casual food.

I am giving them 3.5 stars. Let me start by saying that I have been at this restaurant few times before my visit today. Every time I’ve been here, the food was just okay. Nothing special about them. There are number of other sushi places that I would go before going here. Today we happened to be in the area and this was the closest sushi place so we decided to come here. And I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered sashimi and it came with wild salmon that was a good size. My sister ordered their green salad which is 3.75 and it was a good size. A full bowl with greens, cucumbers, apple slices and carrots. Not bad for the price. From reading the reviews and from my own personal experience, this place can be a hit or miss spot. For me, after today’s experience, I am more likely to come here more often and hopefully it will be as good as today.

The price is low and so is the quality. Had takeout here a couple weeks ago !! Terrible quality of seafood and the rice had a really odd taste. Will not be returning !!

I hate giving two-star reviews. I’d like to call this one 2.5 stars. Maybe even 2.75. First of all, when we showed up, we were told to wait a minute while they cleared off a table for us. The waiter then promptly seated two other people — who arrived after us — at that table, while we had to wait some more. Not a big deal, but not very professional. Then we ordered, and the food was on the table in about 2.5 seconds. There is no way they could have made our sushi that fast, no way. Either they made it for another table who canceled their order, or they make a bunch of popular sushi combos and rolls and then let them sit around until somebody orders them. I suspect it was the second one. All the food was acceptable but the sushi tasted a bit… dry. There is no special rolls menu like at most Vancouver sushi restaurants. This is neither a plus nor a minus for me, but I feel like it deserves to be mentioned. The rest of the menu is pretty standard, although they have a lot of teriyaki, yakisoba and udon options in addition to the usual sushi menu. We had a sushi combo plate, a dragon roll, and a stuffed eggplant appetizer(which was excellent and was certainly the highlight of the meal), and the bill came to $ 29 for the two of us incl tax and tip. Very affordable but I wish the quality were a little better.
