Easily my favorite coffee shop in the west end. Great coffee and vegan options like the Casablanca wrap with curried roasted cauliflower, lentils and couscous keeps me full and happy walking around English bay. The also have vegan banana bread, oat bars, muffins and cookies. Go JJ Bean! My gripe is their hours(closes rather early) and the lack of matcha tea on their menu. I would really love to see a matcha latte someday :)

My #1 coffee shop in Vancouver. Their zucchini chocolate chips muffins are to die for! Coffee is also great, alway the right temperature so you don’t have to wait for it to cool down to start drinking it, which is a big plus for me.

Consistently good coffee. I have a couple favourite coffee artists here. Tasty treats too.

Had some drip coffee and latte here. Nice interiors but the staffs need to clean up the tables more often. Every table was filled with emptied plates and cups. Regardless of this I liked their latte. Pretty good :) Loved the high ceiling too.

So glad to have this place around the corner. Coffee is consistently great. The staff are friendly and I have always had excellent service. The manager is lovely and remembers things I tell her days before. Not something you usually see from a chain.

Welcome to the neighborhood! I believe it’s hard for new businesses to break into the West end. There is a demographic of older people here who love their neighborhood and feel apprehensive about change. In some cases that is warranted, but not so with JJ Bean. Best coffee in the West end for sure. I just wish they had a location at Robson & Denman because that is closer to me. I usually get an espresso, or americano, and both are delicious. Their muffins are awesome, with blueberry oatmeal being a personal favorite. I used to think Starbucks was an excellent coffee place, and for coffee they’re still pretty good. But their food looks like it came from a vending machine. JJ Bean has BOTH good food and good coffee.

Excellent space with bright tall windows. Very modern space, part historic building, restoration design. One big long wood table sits in the centre and very nice sturdy tables for two spread out. WiFi and open until 9pm. I had the traditional cappuccino which was delicious. Recommended.

Caveat emptor, I’m a huge fan of JJ Bean and a caffeine fiend which means I’m probably biased. No one could possibly be happier than me that there’s now a West End branch, but the espresso I got on my first visit wasn’t what I had imagined. It was a tad too acidic, and not that aromatic. I don’t really know what to make of it, but I’m going to definitely them the benefit of the doubt. JJ Bean at Granville Island makes the best coffee in town. Hopefully given time, so will this one in the West End. All hail Coffee. All hail JJ Bean.

* Bright new location * JJ Bean continues to expand around Vancouver. I spotted this brand new location in the old Maxine’s spot. They have made it extremely bright inside, with a silver coloured cavernous ceiling that seems to act like those metal wings you see in the movies to give people a suntan on their face. Combined that with a lot of light natural wood and it was BRIGHT. I had an espresso. It was a bit sloppy in the cup, but it was pulled correctly flavour wise. I imagine they’ll work the presentation kinks out as they get more used to things. Perhaps the brightness was throwing the barista off a bit! In any case, good taste overall. Photo: So if the Northern darkness is getting you down, and you don’t want to spring the extra bucks for a depression lamp, perhaps this JJ Bean is the remedy!
