The place is so nasty and smells gross. It is a place where you make food for people to eat. You should keep it clean. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are cockroaches or mice there. Didn’t even feel like eating the food I ordered after seeing how dirty the place was. Not to say, the service is really bad too.

Recently started coming here as I just moved to the area. It’s my new favourite sushi place. Love the sushi here. Reasonable prices and very friendly staff. Highly recommend you call ahead of time for take out, and if you plan on eating there, don’t be in a rush. They take longer than expected, which can be frustrating, BUT you’re getting fresh sushi so it’s worth it.

This place is SO good. Fresh, quick, consistent, cheap and has awesome customer service. It’s our go to sushi place. Would definitely recommend!

Love this place! Really fresh sushi and so much variety. All is made fresh at time of ordering. Can be really busy at times so I usually expect a wait, but usually no more than 15/20minutes. The inside of the restaurant is nothing special, but for fresh cheap sushi it is perfect. I usually order to go anyway. The people who work here are always the same. I don’t know when they take a day off, but they seem very hardworking. I love the prawn and avocado roll and spicy tuna roll. So delicious.

Decent sushi and definitely very affordable but these guys always take so long to actually prepare the food. The ambiance is ugly for sure but its just a take out place. By far not the best sushi in town but it’ll do.

Who: bf & I What: special of the day(California roll, tuna roll, and yam roll) Where: West End When: weekday dinner Why(not): We bought the special, and while it was a good price, the sushi here was pretty standard. Despite glowing reviews, I wasn’t impressed by the yam rolls(bf tended to enjoy them dunked in soy sauce). Ambiance is definitely lacking, so after a long wait, take your sushi to the beach.

It’s the cheapest Sushi place in the area, if you want something quick, not overly complex and cheap it’s okay. Their Teriyaki sauce is sickly sweet, the best thing you can say about their sashimi is it’s edible, and they have a passable california roll(but who can screw that up). The reason I won’t be back, I went in and order some rolls and a combo for takeout, came to $ 11ish and I paid. When I went to pay they said they undercharged me, and it was actually $ 12ish. I offered the 55 cents I had in my pocket, but they insisted I put a dollar on my debit card before I could get the food. Very poor customer service, I’ll pay the extra buck and go to the places on Denman from now on.

I popped in quickly for a snack, 5pcs of Salmon Nigiri. No one else in there took them about 15 mins, but when my order was up it was sashimi not nigiri… Hot sauce costs 50 cents plus tax. Not going back, smells of oil and is stuffy.

Delicious affordable sushi and great value for the price. Spicy tuna roll, yam tempura roll and Cali roll for $ 6.50…that’s my jam — the #1 Combo. Can be a little busy at times, but I call ahead with my order and it’s usually ready within 20 minutes. It’s not Fancy to Go, so don’t expect much ambience, just good sushi.

6⁄10 for me! I find this place just ok. It isn’t horrible, walked in to get something quick to eat. It isn’t quick either, they seemed busy for take out and had only one chef. Got a speciality roll with prawn in the middle. The one roll costed me 9.50 $ with brown rice. I have no problem with the price but at least give me two full prawns. I hate places that try to cut back by trying to rip you off from what you pay for. Unlike most other Japanese restaurants that serve complimentary green tea, this one charges you 1.25 $ I may go back if I am ever in the area. I would never go out of my way to go here though, with so many other sushi joints around.

You just can’t beat their quality/price ratio. 6.50 $ for 16 pieces? Yes please !

Ran across this place on a recent trip to the Safeway just up the street. Typical sushi to go spot. I went there looking for tamago and something for my bride. I settled on the dragon roll, but sadly, it was completely UNDERWHELMING. It had no flavor whatsoever, seriously NOTHING, NADA, ZERO. Had to drown it in soy sauce. Super disappointed. But, the salmon(that came with it) was fresh and satisfying. My 4yr old twins LOVE tamago, and I was happy to see that they offered it priced per piece. The girls were happy to see it upon my return to the hotel = happy campers. Street parking is limited. Take out is their primary service, but they do have some seating. Prices are decent. $ 7.95 -/+ Service is decent, nothing exceptional. All in all, just average.

It’s been 30 minutes since we ordered and we’re still waiting for our food. The restaurant only has about 5 parties including us and only 2 tables have food on their table. Definitely not a great place to eat if you need to be in an appointment within 2.5 hours. I haven’t tasted the food yet but at this point, I don’t think I’ll be ever coming back. I’ve paid ¾ of the time for parking to eat my food the rest of the hour. Service is way too slow.

10 people in the restaurant and it took them an hour to make the food. This place is ridiculous! Of course I’d pre paid so when I finally had had enough and got up to ask for my money back he didn’t even look at me, he just threw the food at me and said«it’s ready!» I was so angry, I just grabbed it and left. But I forgot my groceries so I had to come back. When I picked up my groceries I was calmer so I said to the guy, at least you could apologize for lying to people about how long it will take to get their food.(I had watched him tell person after person that it would be 20 min) at this point I became the enemy and he started yelling at me to give him the food back if I didn’t want it. I said gladly but to give me my money back. He didn’t want to do that either. Finally, this was becoming a show so I left. Finally left with 16 pieces of sushi and insulted hour later!!! 1HOURFOR16PIECESOFSUSHI!!! I know this place is cheap, but it’s not wait an hour good! I think the guy probably treats his staff even worse than his customers and that is why he and his mom are running the kitchen and the front so he can’t possibly keep up. I sincerely hope he goes out of business soon so we can have a restaurant that knows how to treat customers in our neighbourhood again.

The ambiance here is rather lacking(I always do take out) but I come here for one thing only: Yam tempura rolls. Yes, dear reader, in this nondescript little eatery you may find the yam tempura rolls are stuffed with still warm, still crunchy yam tempura. It’s enough to make even a meatitarian like myself crave them. From what else I’ve tried everything else is pretty standard, but the yam is where it’s at. Their daily special is always a California roll, a ½ yam tempura and a ½ spicy tuna for just $ 6.50. The spicy tuna also isn’t bad, they mix in the same crunchy bits that are in the yam roll, nice touch! I also appreciate that they wear gloves when prepping food :)

I’m giving this place a 5, solely because of the food! This sushi is awesome. The prices are really good for the flavours and sizes you get. I admire Yummy to go because of its small café like table area, and the small business atmosphere. The chef specials are amazing too! Strong flavours throughout, and being a regular, I always get a smile from the guys! All in all, a great little place.

They make the sushi to order, but that means busy and a long wait. Rolls are generally, poorly made; they fall apart when picked up with chopsticks. Pieces of fish are larger than the norm, however. Will do in a pinch, particularly considering the low prices, but there are far better places on Denman.

Enjoyed the #1 combo: 8 pcs each of spicy tuna and californa roll for only $ 6.50! Yummmmm
