~After few months of visiting~ I think they have potential in terms of concept and taste but could be improved overall. So far, I tried tendon, curry matcha muffin, unagi-don, loco moco don. Taste wise, it’s good but could do better. For example, for curry, there were no ingredients other than chicken and loco moco don was more like soboro don. The drinks and desserts were more on the stronger side. I quite liked their matcha cup cake and matcha latte. In my opinion, it might work better if it was more like café style, and stick to beverage, sweets and few savouries…

This is right by Joyce Skytrain station, therefore, totally accessible as it is close to my connecting bus which helps. The interior is less to be desired. Very limited seating inside. Not really an atmosphere that you would actually want to stay at. I came here to get a Matcha Latte before catching a bus. it was reasonably priced, made in a decent time and the service was good.

Cute Japanese bistro right next to Joyce station. Japanese chef with food like onigiri, beef teri don, tuna oroshi udon, etc. Small menu but reasonable price. Also a small restaurant so it’s mostly take out work maybe 10 seats in the restaurant for dine in. Staffs are very friendly and food is great!

A very strange and surprising successor to Shiosai Sushi. If you’re looking for sushi, you’ll be disappointed since they don’t serve that but may find this place a refreshing alternative to that. Instead of sushi, you have an oddity, «Ja-panini», which is basically a grilled rice sandwich. They wrap ingredients with seaweed and rice and is then grilled with a panini press. Think of the sandwich like a Italian-Japanese fusion. They also sell salads if you’re looking for a healthy-concious choice. And of course, you have the old school Japanese stuff like onigiri and donburi. For my first visit to this place, I had a bowl of unagi don. The unagi tasted great with the teriyaki sauce, probably the best unagi I’ve tasted so far in my life. The rice is just like any other, but with dried seaweed flakes to spice it up a bit, it’s all right. I personally haven’t tried the deserts but the ice cream shake loaded with vanilla ice cream, green tea, and azuki(red beans) looks pretty appetizing. I’ll be sure to try that out on my next visit.
