This place has always been good/decent value but the new owners have taken that a step further the cooking is better the sweets recipes in particular have been improved and overall it’s a winner. Bit of a bare bones look which befits a sweet shop but a recent afternoon visit saw the place slammed people were lining up 4 deep @ the counter and I had to flag an overworked but pleasant & efficient waitress down to order a Thali-standard North Indian fare but well crafted and next time I’ll go for a Dosa or maybe Uttapam.

A Punjabi co-worker brought in a cakebox of samosas from this place one night. They were so simple, yet so delicious — curried potato filling, although I do miss the occasional visible peas and onions. Crispy outside. Served with a red syrupy sauce. Apparently their gulab jamuns were also fantastic. It’s on my radar definitely to try more!

Went to this place after reading reviews and was literally fleeced!!! We were two people, ordered two masala chai and one plate samosa(which had two samosa and some chick pea curry). Total expected bill was $ 3 for chai and $ 3.50 for one plate samosa. The lady gave us two samosas in two separate plates along with 2 cups of tea. After finishing eating, when I asked for bill, she said its $ 10. When I asked for break-up she said $ 3 for tea and $ 3.50 each for a plate of samosa. I told her we had ordered only one plate which had two samosas. She coolly mentions since she split the order into two and added a bit of more chickpea curry she has charged us for two plates. So charging us for two plate where she should have given us 4 samosas, she just handed us two samosas. Also she never bothered to mention this too us that she is splitting one order into two. Never thought an Indian could fleece another fellow countrymen for $ 3.50!!! We were traveling from India and were missing Indian snacks and landed up at this restaurant.

This place is nice and is underappreciated outside of the neighbourhood. Plenty of vegetarian options and decent quality food. High ceilings and basic furnishings give it a bit of a cafeteria vibe. The people working are quite friendly as well. I usually get the vegetarian thali and find it more than enough for a meal. The lentil soup and spring rolls are quite nice as well, with a distinct flavouring I haven’t encountered anywhere else. A wide variety of Indian sweets that are similar to the ones you can find elsewhere in the neighbourhood. Too bad the location is slightly out of the way or I would go more often.

What a find this place is, thank you fellow Unilocalers! I was looking for a cheap and cheerful Indian near by and this place totally exceeded expectations. First of all, the place is absolutely spotless, greasy spoon settings but very clean. The food reflects this as well, nice and clean flavours, not that muddled and heavy stuff you normally get at other cheap Indian places. The pakoras were perfectly crispy, muttar paneer was lighter than I’m used to, and veggie korma was packed with veggies including okra rings that weren’t gummy at all. I only wish it was within walking distance, but I will make that 5 minute drive any time.

Everyone’s got a go-to place for various kinds of take away… this has definitely become mine for vegetarian Indian. Nice unassuming location with plenty of free street parking, I can only assume that most of their business comes from the neighborhood and on foot. The interior looks like a deli with various Indian sweets and snacks in the display, with about 4 or 5 tables in the spacious dining area. Sure there is not much ambiance and it just looks like your regular deli type of place where people sit down to eat the sweets and have a drink, I haven’t seen anyone actually eat an indian meal there, so it’s more of a takeout joint. The food is great, I could hear the sizzling shortly after I made my order(it was very early, I was the only one there). Great portions and great taste, and best of all the prices were very reasonable, you aren’t paying for the décor or the location, you are paying for good food and that’s how takeout joints should be(and why many food carts are so successful in this city). I’m primarily a meat eater but anyone who enjoys Indian food should know that their veggie dishes are actually really good, sometimes even better than the meats, because of their amazing creamy sauces. I ordered the Veggie Korma, Aloo Gobi and Veggie Biryani. Great portions and the bill was like $ 22. This place is as close as you can get to quality authentic Indian food besides paying your Indian friend’s mom for it. Their washroom is very big and best of all, clean. The entire place was very clean so I’ve definitely become a regular. P. S.- They open at 9am which is earlier than most Indian restaurants.

This is definitely my go-to place for Indian take-out food. Prices are about ½ of what you pay in downtown or Kits, and the flavor and quality is better than any other place I’ve tried in the whole city. How good is the food? So good that I’ll drive across town 10km/20 minutes to get there. It is the kind of place that you hear about from a friend(as I did). I doubt you would even stumble across it without first knowing it exists, and if you did, you wouldn’t be compelled to go inside. I wouldn’t be inclined to eat at their restaurant unless it was for lunch when they have the thali combos; there isn’t much of an ambiance. The prices can’t be beat, especially considering the quality. All dishes are vegetarian. Curry dishes cost either $ 6.49 or $ 6.99, and you get the same amount as every other Indian restaurant gives. Rice is $ 3.50 for a huge quantity. Nann at $ 1.25 is solid. That’s right folks, Indian take-out for 2 – 3 people for $ 20. The veggie korma is amazing, BTW. Pros: — Excellent quality and flavors; best in Vancouver? Maybe… — Prices can’t be beat — They do take-out food well(giving you a box for multiple items) — The people that work there are friendly — The wait is never more than 20 – 30 minutes — 100% vegetarian(this is actually a pro for me!) Cons: — Not much ambiance(in fact, the dining area has mostly a cafeteria feel) — 100% vegetarian(con if you can’t live without your butter chicken) — out of the way, although there is a bus stop right in front of it

We wanted to eat some Indian street food hence stopped by. The place looks absolutely empty and you think may be it is not a good idea to eat here. But then in a few moments we realized that they have more take outs than dine ins. Fine with us. We ordered the gol gappe — the puri was fresh and the spice water with it was really delicious. We also ordered a chole bhature — which was quite delicious. The variety of Indian confectionery looked very appetizing and so we tried some of the cashew fudge. It was really good. We did not try anything else from the menu, but there were a lot of people who ordered food to go. On the rating scale it is a 3.5

Took advantage of free indian food during the parade, nice atmosphere. sweet pretzel: wow, delish but really sweet. nice soft crunchiness. these weren’t as orange colour like others. square brown piece: just ok, almost like a chalky texture, think it’s supposed to be some kind of peanut butter lol. Can be hard to find, as it’s behind the bus stop. Lots of seating inside.

It’s one of those places you won’t quite know what to expect at first. The place is in a small strip mall and once you walk in it seems you’ve come to more of a bakery than a restaurant even though there are a bunch of tables. There’s a board behind the counter listing some specialties but it’s best to ask for a menu and see the selection of Indian curries if that’s what you’re after. The place is 100% vegetarian which drew me in. I got a lunch special with lentils and palak paneer with naan for my friend and I. It was delicious, really delicious; best naan and almost best paneer I’ve ever had. Despite the lack of ambiance typical to restos, I’ll be going back for sure.
