This location seems to reuse their oil… everything tastes like old if that makes sense. Fries and chicken are soggy or greasy, burgers look sad. Tomato slices are very pale. Other locations are fresher!

Ice cold mug of Apple juice and the sausage egger is a good ‘recovery’ breakfast. It’s actually kind of cool eating at the location in the morning. It’s delightful seeing Canadian people get ready for work — isn’t it?

Teen burger with extra pickles and seasoning. No-hormone beef. Root beer in chilled glass mugs. Fast food but nice for what it is, won’t leave you greasy-gross like McD’s. A semi-regular guilty pleasure. Service is nicer than typical fast food joints, but if you’re there during a rush, you’re still downtown during a rush. If you’re coming from the states and looking to have a root beer float from A&W, you might be in for a surprise. Root beer float is NOT on the menu and they only offer it in one size in a plastic cup. I had to ask the guy behind the counter and his reply was«of course, but it’s not on the menu.» The chilled mugs in the freezer are used for regular root beer whereas in the states the mugs in the freezer are used exclusively for the floats. There are no soft serve machines in the restaurant, rather the ice cream is a shaped like an ice puck and frozen. The puck is dropped in so it’s floating(a real flouter) on the top and requires some time for it to melt to the bottom. The one size(medium) costs as much as a large in the states. It seems A&W in Canada is more known for their burgers and regular A&W root beer rather than their floats.

Love the orange interior! I like their fast food more than Mc wexxy and others! Seems a little bit healthier since they keep on emphasizing no hormones in their meat~ It is decent for what they offer!

I only come here when I have a coupon. I like their burgers and frosty mugs. The customer service is hit or miss here. I come here ’cause it is close to home.

A&W has always had consistently good burgers, using real cheddar cheese. This location is no different, and even has one of the cleanest locations, offering(for breakfast) actual plates for dining in! As long as they don’t skimp on quality(can’t emphasise enough on the importance of real cheese), I will always be a fan of A&W.

A&W root beer and non-hormone grade A beer are two of my guilty pleasures. I love the fact that they are open until midnight daily! For the month of January 2014 they have two momma burgers for $ 5.00 if you are craving a quick protein fix! This is not your average fast food joint. I promise you will be begging for more!

One of the newer ones, very hip w/its orange. Only one I know of that has bar table, stools to boot! friendly service, and efficient. Their meat is truly what they advertise; no hormones, no preservatives, that’s gotta be a good thing. and they deliver too, how cool is that?! metered parking in front. lots of action window seating too.

I enjoyed my first Canadian burger, A&W(a fast food chain)‘s «Teenage burger» for the special price of $ 3(usually $ 5). They advertise for no hormone and all natural beef pattie, I thought the burger tasted fine, definitely a level above McD’s BigMac, not as great as «In&Out» though.

Just came back from a&w not a good experience. This location has a couple problems i think my two teen burgers were cold even the patty was cold? No burger warmers???. My onion rings weren’t fresh either and no seasoning either? Every other a&w has higher standards than this location.

Actual good fast food, it exists. Nice location, clean but inviting interior, friendly service, pop in a frozen cold glass, fries in a cute little holder. Burger was very tasty, fries were good. I’m hungry now, so bye I’m out!

I love A&W in Canada. Mozza burger, poutine. Wish they would take over the US chains.

Wow, what a waste of time and money. The ring it in yourself terminal wasn’t working but we went informed of that until after 5 mins of putting our order in and looking for the payment button. Then the ESL staff tried to take our order. Took even longer for her to make it right. Will never go there again. To bad since it’s a nice restaurant.

When I first read the review by Simon K, I thought, Wow! I’ve got to check out this Buck Rogers Fast Food Format. Unfortunately the place wasn’t busy and the lady at the counter looked really bored, so bored in fact that she was a bit terse with me because I had to «ummmmm’ and uhhhhhh and hmmmm about what I wanted. I could just imagine what she was thinking when she saw me come in. «Oh, here comes another lookie loo to see what this novelty is all about. And yeah, well, it is a novelty. To have this«order by machine» doesn’t work because it is so close to the counter. Now if it was like those old style drive-ins then it would work most indefinately! I remember the old days of when I used to go to A&W for lunch with all my school mates packed in the car. We’d drive in, park our car and check the menu and order our food by speakerbox. When the food was ready, they’d bring it out and put our meal hinged on the side of our door. Great stuff. I’d really wish they comeback with that! So what did I have? A spicy Moma burger. And at this location it came wrapped differently. I’d have to say it was about the same as any other A&W which is good to say. So if you want a bit of a novelty with your fast food? Come on by. Oh, and you may or may not get Wifi. It stated there was free Wifi, but when I asked, they said it wasn’t working. Typo’s free of charge in this review.

This is one of the nicer A&Ws in the downtown core. Not only is the interior new and clean, but nobody knows it exists! Even at noon on a weekday, there is only a slow trickle of people. They have a couple of self-ordering computers but I was too scared to try it. My only gripe would be that there is no napkin dispenser at the condiments counter. You’d think that would be one of the first things the designers would’ve thought of. The food is served in cute little aluminum trays. The onion rings /fries are served in little mesh baskets. Not sure why they do this(I haven’t seen this at any other locations) but it’s really cute and compact. The only downside is that a burger + fry combo costs more than the competition, such as McD’s a block away. Something to think about. Lastly, there is free wi-fi. Yay!

Going with the future of fast food, come on to Alberni Street and venture into this place. You can do it the old way, by ordering from a human, or if you choose that speaking to someone today is not your thing, then go right on to the ‘self-checkout’, yes, I am not kidding. As the way of the future is coming, so is the way places like grocery stores, and now fast food places are using the machine to do what once was someone’s job to do, which is check you out(not checking you out visually, but maybe?). If you still wish to deal with flesh and bones, and a voice, there are people that work at taking your order. This place is nice to come into, as it is new, but with the classic orange and brown colors that we know of an A&W are dominant. It is a small place, with an abundance of fast food in a walk away distance. They do one thing that these new A&W’s do, which is be concious of the amount of waste they use, and if you sit in to eat they family of burgers, and the fries, they use metal baskets instead of the paper containers that will end up in the trash. Another good part, which is a bonus is the wi-fi, cause I love using my touch screen phone, using there net to no limits, with my oily hands from smothering my face with their fries and other food, then scrolling up and down on my touchscreen net device, true love indeed. And noticing they have two tables set on the outside of the shop, great to just chill out and look at the people, and cars drive by on Alberni street, not bad for the amount of space they have, which is not big at all!

I go to A&W for Whistle Dogs or Sirloin Twins baby burgers. Since the baby burgers were a limited time menu, and This Location Does Not Have Whistle Dogs, I doubt I will be back. This is one of the many A&Ws springing up in Vancouver recently. They have two touchscreen Self-Order stations. The fries(eat in) are served in a mini-fryer basket. Free Wi-Fi(unlocked).
