Bait and Switch! WHAT A SCAM !!! Purchased a Groupon and they did not give us the food items that were on the menu. On the Groupon Website, they gave the following values: Miso $ 1 x 2 Salad $ 7.95 Wowa! stop here! $ 7.95 for a limpy plate of salad the same size as a garnish? Sashimi $ 7.95(I did not get) Sushi $ 4.85(I did not get) Instead they gave me Oroshi Sushi. Basically a big plate or rice sushi pieces with«paper thin» salmon(I kid you not!) and torched mayo. Tempura $ 9.50 Value(Ahem, at Uomo I get the same amount of tempura with a whole bento box for the same price!!) 2 prawns, 1 squash and 2 pieces of sweet potato Udon $ 6.50 The waitress said they made a mistake and will give the other set menu. If this was the case, then I did not get Chicken Teriyaki, Yakisoba $ 9.50 value Overall, all the prices on Groupon were inflated. The price we paid, $ 22 was not good value and could enjoy a better meal at Uomo for the same price that included all the above and more. Chicken karagge $ 2.99 was actually only 2 pieces of chicken cut up and Voila! 6 pieces. This only works for a 2 year old child. At the end of meal, I told them I was disappointed and did not come to pay for a rice plate when the menu specifically said sashimi. DONOTGOTHERE. SODISAPPOINTING.

Used a Groupon tonight for 4 and we’re happy with the food. Everything was good and service was great. The best we’ve had? No but good and plenty of food.

We couldn’t have had a worse ending of a beautiful Father’s Day. Horrible service and even more horrible food. We had to talk to the owner, who was extremely rude and doesn’t possess any customer service skill whatsoever. We’ve been told that they don’t care, about what we think about the service, as they don’t suffer from the amount of clients. So obviously we never received any apologies or even an attempt of resolving the dissatisfaction with the restaurant.

Absolutely avoid this restaurant like the plague. Worst restaurant experience ever, due to the rudest waitress and their policies. Went there with a Groupon that was good for several dishes and soft drinks. Arbitrarily, they cut out some of the items that you were supposed to get, without substituting others. Basically just shortchanging the customer. For example, they would not give the two soft drinks that were part of the deal. They did allow the food to be take out if a person paid a surcharge, which I did. The waitress, who seemed to have some authority, said that they would lose the recycling fee if they allowed me to take the cans of soft drinks out. I offered to pay the 5 cents per can recycling so that wouldn’t lose that, but she said she wanted a lot more than that. She also said I could take the Coke out in a take out soup container if I paid $ 1 for that container, one they probably pay a few cents for. When I pointed out that the Groupon promised certain things the waitress said that the restaurant doesn’t like Groupon, they lose money on it. Well, duh, then don’t sign up for it. The waitress did not like my protests and actually snarled at me, «why don’t you just leave». What incredibly rude customer service. This was the person working the phones and take out in the evening of June 11. I would give this place zero stars if I could. And the food was only mediocre.

I love going here of a mid evening when I’m hungry. Last time I went there early, that is, late afternoon, and there were actually people in it. Service is generally unruffled blasé, but the sushi is quite good, and so far they’ve usually let me come in just before they close around 9:30 pm. The soup is also quite good. Sometimes, if you’ve got a lot of work to do, have your computer or phone with you or even a good book or girl, it’s great to have lackadaisical attention so you can concentrate on what you want to engage in. I’ll have to remember to take my high-end books next time. Also, no complaints when I asked for more ginger + no extra charge either — a bonus… the green ice cream banana desert was incredible! several trial deal available at
$ 50 value for $ 15.99 yeah! good till July 102016

After watching several businesses die repeatedly on this block over the years, it looks like a sushi place is now the latest reincarnation. Parking is available on King Edward, as well as the side streets. Main is metered. The place has the typical dark ceilings, but has greyscale murals on the wall, which makes it easier on the eyes. Classy but plain. Staff were friendly. Miso soup — decent taste. Ebi sunomono — also decent taste. Prawns were a bit on the small side though. Salad — just the right amount of dressing(not very much). Salmon oshi(pressed) sushi — special mention. To be honest, it wasn’t so much the pressed part that makes this dish good. It’s all about the searing. The salmon slices were a bit on the thin side though. Chicken yakisoba. Actually not bad. Reminded me of Chinese takeout. Nice mix of chicken chunks and noodles. Assorted tempura — a few pieces of prawn, and slices of yam and carrot. Nice and light on the batter. Overall it’s a half decent place, but other than the salmon oshi sushi, nothing really stuck out to be honest. This place needs to up their game if they feel like surviving.

Alright food. Groupon deals are shitty. Server from around 1 pm on weekdays is horrible. I like the food but since service was the worst I’ve ever had in life, I will not be coming back. The 50 percent discount is a scam. The food in groupon isn’t worth 20 dollars. Horrible service. My buddy asked why the restaurant wasnt busy, later on when we were paying the bill. The server told us to take our tip back and left us with a snarky remark. «McDonals is open 24⁄7 and its busy» hinting us we could have just gone there. Worst service everrrrrrr!

We were just here last week. They had a groupon and thought we would try it out. It was nice inside with a cozy atmosphere. The coupon was for a pre determined meal . It was : One chicken teriyaki dish One mixed-leaf salad Two miso soups Choice of one rainbow or mango california roll One barbecue sockeye salmon kamo or cheek dish Two juices or sodas We chose the rainbow and the Kamo. Service was fast, but it was all pretty well brought at once. The soup was fine the salad was so small it was barely noticeable. The rainbow roll was one of the smallest I have eaten and same with the sashimi wrap, one of the thinnest. The teriyaki chicken was good but a lot of batter and little chicken. The kamo is Salmon skin with a little salmon left on it and it is quite tasty but is really just the barbecued leftover skins after skinning for sashimi . If I were to assume that the portions were normal size for a groupon(which they should be) Then this allegedly being a 40 dollar meal. I do not think I would return. For the 19 that was paid it was adequate. There are some restaurants that continuously use the groupon as an income stream. If they thought more of it as a chance to draw in new customers, with a good first impression they might do better in the long term.

First time to try this place but definitely by far, not the last. Came for lunch today. Friend had a groupon for dinner for 2 plus an additional coupon for«buy one specialty roll second is ½ price». Right on their takeout menu or print from their website. Total 4 of us and we ordered an additional 6 dishes more. Portions are not big but perfect for us. Nabeyaki udon noodle dish was simply delish. A winner for sure. The specialty rolls were all well prepared & plated and certainly the prices were amazingly decent for this day and age. Rainbow roll & mango California roll were another two rolls that were deemed«fabulous». When the bill came, the amount owed by each person was less than paying for a white spot dinner special. Still shaking my head over that. We came home and bought another 2 groupons for the special dinner for 2.

Bought a coupon from , paid $ 15.99 for the value of $ 40. Super disappointed with what I got. The value was definitely less than $ 40 like way less than that. Feel like I got the value of $ 15.99. Such a scam. Ended up order three more sushi rolls because the Axka combo is definitely not for two people like they say on the deal. Service was bad too since there’s only 1 server.

We called for take out and they said it would take about 20 or 30mins. It took a lot longer than that, because they were busy and didn’t have very much people working. As for the food it was good and there are no complaints.

This isn’t a review about the food, but about the service. Tried ordering through Lazymeal, and explicitly wrote down in the notes section: Please Bring Debit Machine. Food arrives, and guy tells me he didn’t see the note. I look at the receipt, and sees my note printed on there. Then he got his boss(or cashier) on the phone, who told me to go to their store to pay for the food. Why would I have paid for delivery if I had to visit your store? The boss/cashier ended up telling the guy to take the food away. I’m not a fan of leaving 1-star review, but if the boss/cashier had apologized for the mistake ANDNOT suggest I visit their store to pay, then this review wouldn’t exist. EDIT: To the owner, I am more than willing to remove this review if an apology is given. I would also suggest that it may be in your best interest to have staff call customers to confirm whenever they pay by «Cash» online. Lazymeal doesn’t offer a debit option, but many restaurants offer a pay by debit so customers have grown accustomed to it.

DC and I were originally planning to go to Zakkushi on Main for dinner but when we got there at 8pm, it was full! We wouldn’t have been able to get a seat until 9:30, apparently. We were slightly disappointed but we figured there’s lots of places to eat around the area. The new restaurant ½ Roll caught our eye so we decided to try it out. It used to be Itadakimasu Izakaya, one of our go-to places for Japanese food but unfortunately, they closed down. :(Anyways, we were eager to try out its replacement. I was unimpressed with their menu. It was all black and the font was unappealing. There were very few pictures, making it difficult to choose what to order. Nothing really caught my eye, to be honest. The cool thing, though, is you can order half rolls, which is 3 pieces instead of 6 if you want to try different kinds of sushi. Eventually, we decided on 4 items. The first was Takoyaki. I thought it was actually not bad. It had a crispy exterior and the inside was smooth and very hot. It didn’t have very much filling, however. Our second appetizer was the Asparagus & Bacon, our replacement for not getting to go to Zakkushi XD. It was pretty meh… Nothing special about it. The bacon was a bit tough. We ordered the Las Vegas Roll, which was one of their specialty rolls. It had prawn tempura, avocado, cucumber, unagi, and yam tempura outside. The flavour was good but there were lots of bones in my unagi… which is something I’m very nit-picky about! :( Lastly, we had the Salmon Oshi Sushi, as recommended by other reviewers. The first few of pieces were quite good. It had a nice smoky flavour that wasn’t overpowering. However, after eating a couple more pieces, I wasn’t a huge fan anymore. The sauce on top became too creamy and it needed some sort of acidity to cut the richness. I also had some scales in my salmon sashimi, which was another huge disappointment. Yuck! Overall, we didn’t have such a great experience here. The service was so-so and the food was mediocre, at best. The fish wasn’t prepared properly and the ambience just didn’t feel right to us. ½ Roll was just another one of your unauthentic Chinese-owned Japanese restaurants.

Mediocre is the word to describe this place. Nothing outstanding at all about it other than the Miso, which isn’t saying a whole lot. My gal had two dynamite rolls. Took a good while for it all to come out, though to be fair the place was clearly understaffed when we were there, and they had a full house(almost) and to go orders going on. I got vege tempura which literally took almost 40 minutes to come out. once it finally did, it was hot but greasy, not even very crunchy. Probably the worst tempura I’ve had in a long while and didn’t even eat half of it. i also had a Chicken Egg donburi. It was good, but also nothing special. We gave it a shot, but I won’t be going back. There are far better places for the same $. Avoid!

Been here a few times with the best friend. Service is okay, nothing to write home about. We just had some cucumber and avocado roll, simple. Made okay. Prices for both rolls under $ 5. Ample seating inside.

We live in the neighbourhood and love this sushi place. I LOVE their sashimi salad(I am a bit of a salad connoiseur). What was best about this salad was the preparation and the texture or design of it. I love that it was prepared with lettuce so finely shredded, and carrot so delicately julienned. It makes such a difference! Also, the freshness of the sashimi helped, not to mention the crunch of the radish & cucumber, and the creaminess of the avocado — all tied together with the perfect sweet and vinegar sauce(that may have been slightly tomato based??)— made a perfect salad. 10⁄10! Also, this restaurant doesn’t have the best rating and we don’t know why. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, the thoughtfulness of the dishes, and the good service. We also ordered the Bara Chirashi Don(amazing sashimi and tamago bowl on rice — SOGOOD), and the Salmon Oshi Sushi(pressed salmon and jalapeño — had a bit of a smoky edge to it, ALSOGOOD). We will go here again and again!

It was just another unauthentic sushi restaurant among a plethora of sushi joints within Vancouver. Had salmon oshi sushi, sushi sandwich, a few rolls, and some hot items from the kitchen. They were definitely nothing to write home about. Service was sub par and the atmosphere was, well, there was not atmosphere. The room was 20% full when I went during dinner hours on a Friday. Trying to find parking is very difficult in that area. Wouldn’t recommend.
