food is fresh, delicious and best of all, a great price! came on a saturday afternoon and after a well worth it 15 minute wait, we got a seat inside the tiny restaurant. we ordered off the lunch special menu with an alaska, dynamite and spicy salmon roll all for only 9 bucks. all with ample filling and a very thin layer of rice, each one was delicious! we also got the assorted sashimi and each piece was fresh as well, they were also generous in size and only 15 dollars! the two special rolls we tried were crunchy munchy which was spicy tuna with LOTS of yam fries on top and of course, some sauce. there was so much yam… but the roll itself was also delicious! my mom loved eating the fries on their one as they weren’t too greasy or soggy being freshly fried. the other roll, big bang was my favourite with california on the inside and seared tuna on top. it was again, large in size with very little rice and not drowning in sauce. at only 8 dollars per special roll, they were again a great deal! finally, we tried the takoyaki which was a good price and tasted standard and toro and chopped scallop nigiri which were only $ 1.50 each but had so much fish on top of each! overall, great prices for great food and really really kind and quick service. definitely a revisit type of place!

One of my fave sushi joints in the city. I love their specialty rolls like the #1 Mania Roll which comes with torched scallops on top. All their specialty rolls are reasonably priced at $ 7.95 which is a good deal considering similar rolls can be priced more in the city. The only knock is the inconsistency of their regular rolls. The chicken teriyaki roll had burnt bits of chicken and was nearly inedible. The Alaska roll was so-so filled with only cucumber no avocado. Otherwise, the sashimi is fresh, appetizers like gomaee and karage are great. Pro-tip: sit on the bench and warm your butt! It’s heated :)

I have been craving sushi so decided to stop by this place after a long walk on main st. Place is small and cute! Bf and I ordered your generic rolls: tuna avo, smoked salmon, unagi, spicy chopped scal, Alaska and spider roll(fb eats a lot). I like that the rolls are not huge. I also asked for less rice and they did just that! My fave was the spider and Alaska roll. Unfortunately the chopped scal roll had a bit of a funky smell towards the end and also, veeeeeery small(almost as small as a negitoro roll). Other than that everything was great. Service was spectacular which really was the highlight of our dining experience :) Will go back next time I walk 16 blocks down main st!

OMG. What cute, tiny little Sushi and Japanese appetizers. Almost everything about Sushi Mania is tiny. The joint is tiny. The food is tiny. Even their employees are small. The prices are pretty small too, but in proportion to the serving size. You can order from the lunch special menu where you can assemble a combo from a list of items at a set price. We tried Spicy Agedashi Tofu and Chicken Karaage as appetizers. Both portions were crispy… and small. The Karaage was interesting in that they were served boneless and came with a dipping sauce. They were extremely crispy with just a hint of garlic. The Tofu blocks were sitting in a pool of hot sauce and lightly sprinkled with green onions. I wished the portions were larger, they all tasted so good. We ordered the spicy Sushi combo which featured tuna, Salmon and California rolls drizzled with hot sauce. They were all dainty. We also had a chicken udon which was served in an amazingly savoury broth. Again, serving size was on the small side. The restaurant was busy the entire time we were there on a Saturday morning. Food was served quickly and tea was refilled almost as soon as an empty cup was placed on the table. The server/hostess was very enthusiastic and friendly. I don’t know if she was really Japanese but her high pitched Japanese greetings sounded authentic enough. Sushi Mania is a great little Sushi place worth visiting the next time you’re on Main Street. Maybe it isn’t the best place to eat if you’re starving, but a good place if you just want a light snack or meal.

This was my first visit here. I was quite happy with the service and quality of food. As I walked in, I was cheerfully greeted by staff. I like that they offer takeaway. It has a small eating area for those who wish to dine in. I ordered the wild salmon & tuna sashimi with spicy sauce. It tasted fresh and good. Next time, however, I’ll probably try it without the spice. I also tried the crunchy roll, which, for someone who likes crunchy textures, it was very satisfying. I couldn’t even see the spicy tuna roll wrapped in rice because there were so many crunchy bits atop of it. This cost about $ 20 together, so it’s not cheap sushi if that’s what you’re after. However, the crunchy roll alone is $ 8 and enough for one. I would like to return and try some of their other menu items. It seems like a solid local sushi spot.

This is my top cheap sushi joint to go to in Vancouver. It is a teeny spot so during the peak hours prepare to wait 10 – 15 minutes. It’s very cozy inside with lots of rustic wood. Service is pleasant and efficient. I especially love the option to change to wild salmon for an extra fee and they don’t overpack their rolls with rice — hey how about some FILLING, ammiright? They also do lunch and dinner sets which are an amazing deal. Dinner set is under $ 12, and lunch is even cheaper. Go!

Functionally adequate sushi for killing a craving. I got ruined by all the incredible fresh cuts and tightly bound rolls in Tokyo. Came here with 2 friends and ordered the party platter for 2 – 3 people. The wild salmon upgrade was a good idea for the nigiri. The white tuba was also very fresh. However the maki rolls had pieces of rice sticking out and the chopped tuna one was kind of overwhelmingly squishy.(Too much tuna in the roll vs rice)

There were a lot of sushi joints along Main Street, but thank God we chose Sushi Mania! It’s a small restaurant, that has about six tables but it wasn’t pack at all when we went. Great customer services – the ladies working were very friendly and attentive. Their salmon sashimi is so delicious! Thick cuts and all their fish were fresh! Seaweed salad was only for a buck, and it was great. Salmon Avocado Roll was also good, it was presented nicely and for about $ 4, it came with a lot! The Sunny Roll from their Original Roll is a must-try! It has crab meat, avocado, mango and top with salmon and tuna. Great extensive menu and really affordable prices! We were surprised when we got our bill – for the type of fish they server, totally worth your bucks!

Really great sushi! The rolls were great and nicely presented. The rolls are a decent size. The prices are good and the service was attentive. My tea was refilled all the time. It’s not a huge place. Only a few tables and your party all has to be there before you get seated. So onto the rolls. The mania roll and black dragon rolls were delicious. And the Alaska roll(I got sock-eye for an extra .50) was good also I loved that ginger sauce on top. Chicken Karrage and agadashi tofu were also good. And for vegans/vegetarians the Veggie mega roll was well made. I would definitely be returning. As for now it’s probably my favourite place for sushi.

Lets start with the important stuff: THEFOOD Tuna gomae: Surprisingly generous ratio of fish to spinach in this little appy(ie: 50:50).and not overly drenched with sauce either. Gyoza: No one ever raves about gyoza and they always seem to fly under the radar, but these little babies were really quite good. They were smaller than the average gyoza, but light and crispy without being too soggy/oily…the gyoza skin was rather remniscent of very light potato chips(oddly enough!). Sushi: We had an assortment of nigiri and rolls, some with white rice and some with brown rice(+$ 0.25). The fish was fresh… no rice overload here! Service was great, all around a nice place to grab a good bite of sushi.

Cute place. Yummy food. Decent portions. Affordable prices. Friendly service. Even offers brown rice for anyone who prefers that over regular rice. Really enjoyed our takeout order the first time we tried sushi mania, this time just having a late lunch and the lunch special of 2 items plus miso soup for $ 5.95 is perfect for me. Ordered beef teriyaki, a nice serving on a small plate, and Alaska roll, full roll of 8 pieces, not just 4 pieces as at some other places might give for such specials. Need to do take out again soon because the mania roll with seared scallops and the tuna sashimi was great last time.

Back to write another great review of one of my favourite sushi places. Korean owned and run friendly staff and my KT really likes the food here. We came recently for lunch and ordered up the usual brown rich sushi, toro sashimi and veggies. Before you order, ask for the brown rice if it’s available. Sometimes it gets sold out. That’s how good it is. Japanese brown rice is not like the western brown rice. This is way better and healthier too. They don’t overload the sushi rolls with rice either. Which is good and how it is supposed to be done. My Japanese food Critique doesn’t like it here, but who cares what she thinks. She’s too old fashioned and too opinionated. KT has a more youthful and modern approach to Japanese food. Think young Millennial food enthusiast that doesn’t overindulge. So KT helps to balance off my opinions and write ups for me.

It is a small Japanese restaurant on Main Street in Vancouver. By listening to the conversation between the waitresses and chefs, I think they are Korean. My friend and I went for dinner. We didn’t make reservation, but we got a table for two immediately. The service was great. My friend ordered a cup of green tea and I ordered a cup of hot water. The tea and water were really hot. I don’t like some restaurants who serve customers warm tea or water. Our waitress would repeat what we ordered, so she made sure she got everything correctly. The menu has a lot of varieties. Among all the rolls, mania roll is the first or top one on the list of rolls. I know a lot of Unilocalers tried it and posted pictures here, so I ordered and must try it. It had seared scallops on top of the sushi. It tasted excellent. I usually had seared tuna and salmon. It was my first time to try seared scallops. My friend and I also ordered: sushi pizza — four balls with either salmon or tuna sashimi on top of faked crab meat and rice at the bottom Half order of spicy tuna sashimi Sashimi salad Spicy salmon nuggets Half order of sockeye salmon sashimi I liked how we could order half order of spicy tuna sashimi and sockeye salmon sashimi, so we could try more dishes. I never had salmon nuggets which were very good! Overall, all the dishes were artistic and fresh. The prices were reasonable and they did not rush us to pay and leave after dinner. My friend and I could sit and chat for a while before we left.

Really small space. 6 small tables that can sit 4 people. 2 chefs and 2 servers. Ordered takeout 6 items(mania roll, black dragon roll, bigbang roll, HOT roll, salmon sashimi and toro sashimi) at 6:07pm. We received our order at 6:16pm. The rolls tastes like places I normally go. Not mind blowing, but isn’t bad at all. Overall, I give it a solid 3.5−4.0 star for price, taste, portion and service.

This place has fresh sushi at very affordable prices. What’s there not to love? The weather was so cooking hot over the weekend my family and I didn’t want anything heavy for dinner so I suggested having sushi, light and filling. We ordered two dinner specials, two special rolls(Dragon roll and something else with chopped scallops on top), more individual chopped scallop nigiri, salmon sashimi, more salmon maki rolls, California rolls, beef Teriyaki etc. I didn’t have any salmon sashimi or salmon maki so I am not going to comment. I very much enjoyed the chopped scallop nigiri. They were very fresh. I was most impressed by their California Roll. Holy smokes, the ratio of filling to rice is insane! Often times too many places make their California Rolls with too much rice and too little filling but Sushi Mania does it the other way around. The special rolls were sauced but not drenched. That’s very important because I don’t like soggy rice. The bill came to around $ 55.00 after taxes and tips for 4 people. We were so stuffed but was happy with the amount and quality of food. We ordered just enough so we had no left overs. The restaurant has limited seats and doesn’t take reservation so either come early or prepare to wait. The two waitresses were incredibly patient.

The best bang for your buck sushi place. They have great service and the food is delicious. The mania roll is by far the best and unique to rush mania. It’s seared scallopness(is that a word?) is a great balance with the mayo. The seared tuna roll is sweet and refreshing!

Good sushi with affordable prices. My sashimi combo came fresh with nice presentation of rolls and sashimi. Waitress looked friendly and nice. I got my tea refill often as she came by. I was happy. I love how I can either choose sushi combo or order 3 different rolls with Miso soup included. Small restaurant, but reasonable price and good food.

Been back many times now, and every time it has delivered. This place continues to earn my highest praise. The food portions aren’t the largest in town, but for the quality you get, this place really can’t be beat. Special mention goes to the sushi pizza — 4 delicious pieces of tuna with masago on top, served on a «crust» of crispy pizza rice, and covered with spicy mayo. Very innovative, and great for making friends. The 5 stars remain.
