History

Established in 1962.

The Store was started by Bill in 1962 but the true beginnings is way before that. Bill used to run a hardware store just down the street from where we are today. He’s a passionate skier and a former ski instructor (on the weekends).

Ski boots back then were harder to fit than they are now. His students and fellow skiers would always be complaining of ill fitting boots. Being a handy guy (naturally!) he started to adjust boots for his friends and students. This led to him selling and servicing boots and skis out of the back of his hardware store.

This is where our name originated; he had a sign out in front of the store of a skier. Hence customers would start to know it as the hardware store with «the Sign of the Skier» out in front.

The skis and boots started to take up more and more of the store and in 1962, he decided to move his shop up the street to where we are today and started to exclusively sell skis and eventually snowboards and Patio furniture and BBQs in the summer.
