Ok. It’s a neat neighborhood, a nice park, and the pool was uncrowded and clean. BUT be warned: there is some sort of slaughterhouse/meat rendering facility very near here, and on certain days the odor can be VERY noticeable. Not unbearable, but pretty darn bad. I guess it depends on which way the wind is blowing.. .

This is one of my favorite public outdoor pools in the city. It is like going for a swim in someone’s back-yard. You can pretend it’s yours. It is very quiet and peaceful. You can hear the birds, rustle of the wind etc. There is hardly anyone there especially if you go in the early evening. It is wonderful during a heatwave as the water is very cool and refreshing. A bit like going back in time.

I can’t say much for the swimming pool but this park is a haven for me. Even though it’s a big, huge city, people tend to forget how green it is. Stanley Park isn’t huge, but it’s still beautiful and lush and green filled with swings and a jungle gym and seating and it’s one of those places that really makes me feel like a kid again. It’s located on a relatively quiet part of King West without a lot of stores or clubs or bars or restaurants around. It feels like this miniature forest stuck right smack dab in the middle of the biggest city in the country. I wish I had more time in my life to just hang out here, people watch and play on the swings. Ah, to be five again.
