Omni King Edward Hotel

Great spot to stay in Toronto. Area is nice, great food in walking distance and the city life on Church street is always a great option. Also über tends not to surge price in this area.

Very nice Traditional hotel. The entrance in King Street welcomes with a doorman and the lounge area has 5 feet tall chess pieces. The staff is warm and the whole building is well maintained. Our deluxe suite was beautiful and the shower was perfect. The gym was fully equipped and open 24hr a day with water towels and apples. The negatives, expensive WiFi and the television system was dated in terms of content. Staff were super helpful and friendly.

Checked in here as my go to Marriott was booked up. I am impressed they provide more service to a first time guest than my Platinum Elite status gets me at Marriott. Rooms are not just large and comfortable they are luxurious. The old school touches are amazing with nightly turn down service and included breakfast and happy hour in a stately lounge. I expected to see top hats and tails but the service never failed. It made me feel I went back in time to when travel was only for the wealthy and privileged and not just a business deliverable. I would stay here any time when chance finds you in the GTA.

The recent renovations have transformed a beautiful hotel into an even more beautiful hotel. The lobby is spectacular. The guest rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well decorated.
We decided to pay the additional fee for the Club Level (breakfast, afternoon tea and evening snacks and cocktails) and were glad we did. Well worth the added cost and the two hosts we met on our long weekend; Janell and Alex, are an asset to the hotel. They treated us like family and went out of their way to make sure our needs were met.

Everything we experienced those 2 nights we stayed were nothing short of excellent from the room, to the food, to the quickness of valet and the overall friendly staff. We will definitely stay at this hotel again and again when we visit Toronto.

My girlfriend and I went here for a double date on Valentine’s Day for afternoon tea. We were definitely not disappointed. Being one of the few people on time for their reservation, we found ourselves bumped up from the courtyard into the restaurant. It was definitely much warmer and much better service inside, which is definitely a pleasant surprise. The king Edward is no doubt a very nice hotel, and has been for a long time. The conciege was also very polite in giving us directions when we first entered too.
We got the king tea set, which included, the scones and sandwiches. They have a decent size collection of teas that they offer from two different companies. Each has a box of it’s own with samplers to smell the aroma of each possible flavour before ordering. This was very normal for an afternoon tea place, especially in such a prestigious hotel where it is expected. Unexpectedly though, was the price, it was definitely bang for buck. There’s other afternoon places also charges easily $ 35 – 42 dollars, but this place has very competitive prices for what you get. I would have loved to let you know what exactly I got, but I was enjoying the dishes way too much.
Definitely come if you can afford it. The scones are wonderful, and the sandwiches were to be desired. If you like either, you can go for the smaller package and get the half you want!

Absolutely the best Sunday brunch. Although there are items that are offered by other Sunday brunch places, the food quality here is quite elevated. From the prosciutto, smoked salmon, to the cheese and so much more are high end quality. The room is stunning in its Victorian design. This place definitely makes you feel Iike royalty. If you love Sunday brunch, this is a must try!

I stayed here for 7 nights back in March and it was great. I had never been to Toronto but I absolutely love it. When we first arrived the bellman/​doormen were great. Checking in went smoothly… took elevator to our upgraded suite and there’s a maintenance man in our room and he says he’s going to be about 2 hours… what? I just flew in from LA, I need a room. Back downstairs and the front desk and they were apologetic and amazing. We had another room immediately along with drinks and fruit etc… to make up for the confusion. It did not stop there but I will say the manager and front desk staff handled the situation amazingly, the way it should be. This building is old and beautiful. Breakfast downstairs was great every morning and the employees are exceptional. I was in the hotel business for several years and I was really impressed with this hotel

Came here for the Chocolate afternoon tea and will say that the desserts were very dense. The sandwiches were nice and light but some with a distinct taste that some may not attest to. The hotel in itself is very beautiful and has some outstanding art pieces on display as well as a ‘study’ room complete with luxury designer books and interesting finds. The service at the afternoon tea was great, but had a different waiter every now and then. At the beginning they explain the procedure and hand you a menu, as they also indicate what each dish is presented before you. I would definitely come by here again but maybe try a different tea ceremony than chocolate as I’m not a big fan of sweets. There was no chocolate tea so don’t let that fool you — only the desserts were chocolate.

This is a monument of Old Toronto. It is one of the grand hotels of the city, even if it isn’t scraping the sky like so many of the newer luxury chains. Whether for dinner or an overnight stay the King Edward is a nod to the class of a bygone era. The rooms as small, but very well appointed. The interior is welcoming and intimate. And if you keep your eyes peeled you can actually stay here relatively affordably on some great deals. Cheers.

I thought this was a very solid property and would return again if in Toronto. The room size was very large especially by big city standards. I was able to get what I thought was good price from one of the travel web sites. The location was good for our needs. And the staff was informative and helpful. The appearance of the common areas was modern and clean. The guest rooms are starting to show a bit of age. I found the bed a bit soft for my taste and the air conditioning was loud. Although this seems to sadly be a common issue in hotels.

We stayed here the last time we were downtown and it was under going exterior renovations. Inside you would have no idea it was even happening. I read up about the hotel prior to our stay and there is a lot of history in that building. I suggest you take a read of the Wikipedia page. Beautiful architecture throughout with updated rooms. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

It’s rare that I walk into a hotel room and just about melt into a puddle of bliss, but that happened here. Which is seriously saying something. I had reserved the most basic room (Deluxe King. The least expensive) but there was absolutely nothing basic about this room!
There was this enormous room waiting for me! Besides the largeness (I was able to do an HIIT workout one morning!), the room was rather beautiful in its restrained elegance (loved the pillow with a crown on it, despite there being not an ounce of Anglophile inside of me, as well as the quilted headboard), not to mention spotless. But that bathroom! Sheer wonders of wonders, the bathroom is the largest bathroom I’ve ever had in a basic hotel room *with a ton of blessed counter space.* (I carry all the products). The room for value is 5 stars all around. I was extremely impressed. And this never happens!
Just some speculation, but I have a feeling the Omni took over this property not so long ago. It’s definitely more Senior Citizen Luxe (think: NYC’s Pierre or Plaza) and less typically swanky/​sleek/​hip Omni property (my god, have you seen the Omnis in Dallas and Nashville?!) but sometimes I channel up that inner 80 year old quite easily and can get right down with Grams & Gramps if it means I’m longing in the lap of luxury at perhaps what the price of the lap of luxury was in the 1960s! Conjuring up the spirits of Joan, Don and Roger. I know y’all stayed here.
As such, don’t expect the (temporary) hotel bar to be open past 10:30pm (do expect the old school obligatory offering of a bowl of nuts and crackers! They really knew how to treat a customer back in the day). And when you check in at 12:30 am, don’t expect a doorman or concierge (really, I don’t mind)… a true skeleton crewe. That said, they were all nothing but polite at my scandalous check-​in time.
The neighborhood is definitely not rich with nightlife or open restaurants. I was forced to order from room service two nights in a row, which I kind of hate, but what’s a girl to do when it’s 11pm or 1am and she’s just sitting down to dinner? My grilled vegetable sandwich was edible (I did appreciate the whole grain toast) and naturally as overpriced as you’d expect.
The gym is spectacular. The Omni never fails to impress me with their hotel gyms! Tons of equipment you wouldn’t expect, in addition to your typical treadmills and ellipticals, plus a decent number of benches and even space in front of full length mirrors with yoga mats, exercise balls, etc! I just love the amount of space they devote to their gym. I just find that most hotel gyms are an afterthought, but when you travel a lot for work, it’s crucial.
There’s a sweet little coffee bar off the lobby, too, with delicious espresso drinks (Illy) that are Italian-​style rather than Starbucks-​style. There’s a spa and a salon (or «beauty parlor» as my grandma used to call it!) though I used neither so I can’t report much.
It’s a quiet, quite luxurious hotel. If it were in a more happening part of town with access to more of what the lovely city of Toronto has to offer, I’d never stay anywhere else. That said, I’m sure I’ll be staying here again, regardless.

We were a bit apprehensive when we booked the King Edward while it was still under renovation, but our worries were unfounded. If you can ignore scaffolding on the main façade and a temporary entrance around the corner, you’ll find a great hotel in a perfect location. If you don’t wish to pay big bucks for the hotel services, there are plenty of alternatives.
Municipal parking is a block away with rates roughly half the hotel valet-​only parking, especially a bargain Saturday & Sunday. The parking is a gateway to a Metro market which has an endless supply of bakery, cheeses, fruits, ready-​to-​eat dinners and snacks ²⁴⁄₇. Danish and croissants are particular good for a bring back to the room breakfast.
If you join the Omni club (which you can quickly do online before your visit) wi-​fi is free and connectivity is excellent. You get other perks, even on your first visit. The upgraded room was not huge but fully adequate with a desk and chair, reading chair, and plenty of drawer space and a large closet A Keurig coffee machine, safe, and refrigerator were all part of the upgrade. Bathroom had a large modern shower, no tub.
Every member of the hotel staff was courteous, especial the doorman (Sean) who greeted us. First impressions are important. Finally, the King Edward is in an upscale location midway between St. Lawrence market and Younge Street, and only a block away from the King/​Younge subway stop.

Booked a Premier King Room over a weekend for the purposes of photoshoots. My room in particular was absolutely gorgeous but could have been cleaned a little better. The low use surfaces like the TV stand and the underneath of the coffee table were covered in dust… like a good month of no dusting kind of dust. Personally I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t the models that pointed it out.
WiFi is paid but just join their Select Guest program and it’s free. Express Checkout was awesome.

Great location close to plenty of restaurant options in every price range from fast food to fancy schmancy (room service, as you would probably expect, is exorbitantly priced)
Great coffee shop off the lobby, prices in line with Starbucks.
For my purposes (boudoir/​glamour photos) the King Edward is a perfect hotel marrying old school class with newly renovated rooms. I plan to return for this purpose in the coming months. Not sure I’d stay here if not for business though.

We went here for a friends birthday we reserved a week ahead via open table they called 2 days before and confirmed the reservations.
We went for the tea party which was so nice and different be carful with reserving the tea part is in the afternoon not the morning, they had a good selection of teas to choose from with the actual leafs to smell at the table each person gets their own tea pot and they fill it up with hot water as many times as you want, there was 7 of us so we ordered 4 of the finger sandwich platters and 3 of the (deserts) pastries and shared for the whole table which was more then enough !
Overall very satisfying experience amazing staff and friendly. Definitely recommend .
Ps they don’t take debit so make sure you have a credit card with you.

We had a lovely stay at the Omni which is very conveniently located. The customer service and eye for detail was very appreciated.
We had a massively large luxury executive suite that was well appointed. The layout struck me as a bit odd. With 800 square feet, I would have thought there would have been a larger bathroom with a tub or at least a double sink. And if not, maybe a powder room so a couple didn’t have to knock into each other as they go dressed. Maybe that is a very American thought though…
I also am not sure why they don’t have their luxury suites on higher levels. We were told they were all on the 6^th floor.
That said, our room was quiet and comfortable. The gym at the hotel was very nice and the service and food at the restaurant was an added bonus.
I can’t compare this hotel to others in the Toronto area as this is the only one I have ever stayed in, but I would stay again and recommend it to others. We thought for the money, it was a great value.
Oh and if you join the Omni loyalty club, you receive free wifi. Definitely a worthwhile tip since the hotel charges around 15 bucks a day for it if you are not a member.

Got a really sweet deal on this place through Hotel Tonight, but the King Eddy is aging — and it shows. We opted not to take the $ 20 upgrade, though in hindsight, the renovated rooms are probably well worth the extra cost.
Bedding is nice, but room furniture could use replacement. That said, rooms are absolutely gigantic, that hallmark of an era where hotels didn’t have to maximize the cost-​efficiency of every single square foot.
Hotel is quiet; the mean age of guests here is probably 55 — which doesn’t make for an exciting environment, but guarantees a good sleep. Service isn’t particularly good, but nothing to complain about. The doormen could be a bit more attentive. Wi-​fi is awfully expensive.
