NC Salon – North York

I came here for the first time after getting several recommendations from friends who’ve styled, dyed and cut with nc salon.
Anyways i had cut and wash with Jeffrey.
I wasn’t specific since I didn’t really have any style in mind but only the length i want.
He did a good job. Place was neat. Got offered tea but they got set up before i could get a chance to drink it lolz :) and the massage was great too.
I love my new look. :))
Will come back spring/​summer to get a full dye.

I’ve been there for twice since this spring, and I really like this salon. They are providing really comfortable service. I had a short massage during the hair washing, and the hair stylist was quiet, but I personally do not like someone talk too much when doing the hair cut. Will go back few months later.

My stylist was Joe and he is such a friendly guy. He may look young but he is a senior and very talented in my opinion. He’s very fast with his scissors and he cut my hair very well. He also gave me advice on what style would work for me and suitable for my face shape. I am very picky with my hair cut in general, and it’s rare for me to like my hair cut, but he’s done a great job!
Also, the shampoo artist (not sure what they are called, didnt want to call them shampoo guys), was very good at what they do, and the head massage was intense but very refreshing!

Very happy with my haircut with Hiro! I came in with waist-​length thinned out layers and plenty of split ends. She was able to cut my hair to the exact look I wanted, making small adjustments and asking if I was satisfied along the way. I think this is great because this allows Hiro and I to be on the same page.
Parked at Finch station (free on weekends) and quick walk to the salon. Salon can get busy, so be prepared to have a bit of a wait time. Bonus is you get to put your items in a little locker/​safe. What else to say? Got major compliments already for how shiny and healthy my hair looks. Thanks Hiro!

I’ve had my hair cut here on several occasions, and have enjoyed my experience here, particularly with stylists Ronnie (no longer works here) and Chris. I always ask for haircut suggestions and they give honest opinions. They also give great styling tips if you have trouble managing your hair. Chris and Ronnie are both very experienced and thorough with their work.
I didn’t have that great of an experience with other stylists though, and so my final rating is only a 4.

A nice clean set up here at NC. I love the décor here — it’s open and spacious and modern. The staff is friendly and I felt comfortable right away. The head massage almost put me to sleep (though I’m sleep deprived as it is, so… it wouldn’t be hard), and the cup of tea they gave me was delicious.
Jeffery, my stylist, was very calm and friendly. He gave suggestions to my hair cut and did a great job. There was a girl on the other side of the room who was getting a wash and style, and she left looking FABULOUS — luscious curls as if her hair did that naturally, it was jaw dropping!
I dropped one star only because when I wen to pay, they told me that wash and cuts were cash only, which I thought was odd considering it was $ 45. Good thing I had money on me, but I would usually expect to card such a large amount.
Easily located around Finch & Yonge, so walking distance from Finch Station. Street parking all around.

I had the opportunity to hair model for Sufin twice, and had a great experience both times. Sufin is a fantastic talent for hair cutting, I’ve never seen someone as agile and focused in their craft. She’s also very sweet, and has the cutest pets ever! (If you ask her, I’m sure she will gladly tell you their instagram handle haha.)
Both of the sessions involved bleaching, and yes, NC Salon offers Olaplex! (I remember how thrilled I was after spending hours watching Guy Tang rave about the product on his channel haha.) I believe it’s an additional option for any bleach service, that involves an extra charge.
The washing station is extremely relaxing; unlike other salons where you’re positioned in a upright sitting position during your wash, you’re completely reclined with your upper torso slightly elevated. And just like everyone raves, the scalp massages are out of this world! (I dare you to not start dozing off.)
There are way too many positive things to say about NC. It may be a bit out of reach for the average student, but it really is worth the money. If you find yourself in the area and want to treat yo self, this is the place to go!
(For any hair nerd out there, they also offer Elumen by Goldwell. I personally find that NC charges way less for this colouring system than other salons offering it, like Loft Hair Lounge.)

I’ve been to NC salon on two occasions. Once for a hair cut and the other to tone my ombré. I suggest you call ahead of time because the salon does get busy and you might not get an appointment.
Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival, you are given a nice cup of tea and a locker for your belongings. The staff takes the time to understand what type of look you’re going for. They also make sure you’re comfortable and ensure you have a fresh stack of magazines to browse through.
The scalp massage was amazing! The only thing I didn’t like was the price. It cost about $ 200 for the application of two toners. Normally, salons charge about $ 50 for that type of service especially since it’s not permanent.
Overall, I was impressed by their customer service and will most likely return.

Very kind, love the tea they give. I went to get a Japanese straight perm and they did a strand test and it unfortunately didn’t work for my hair. But I am very happy that they were honest about it instead of doing it and having it not work then I have to pay for it anyways. Definitely a good place to go.

Got a haircut with Yoshi. I am satisfied and happy with the hair cut, the massage is great! Paid 75 in total. Definitely will be back for the next time. Oh. And why 4 stars not 5? He didn’t really do a great job with the blowdry.

I have been here twice now, and received a director’s cut (with Yoshi), and I think I’ve finally found my go to hair stylist!
Each time I get my haircut, I ask the hairstylist to come up with a style for me. Normally the hairstylists play it safe and recommend the same style with a trim.
Yoshi seemed a bit nervous at first (understandably) but in the end he came up with a great style. He gave me options of what styles he thought would look good and told me the pros and cons of each (which one is easier styling, etc).
He also took the time to walk me through how he was styling my hair at the end so I would be able to do it myself at home.
All the staff I encountered are nice and thoughtful, and I’ve finally found a stylist who is not afraid to give their opinion about hair styles.

Really nice salon and the service is fantastic!
I went in originally for a digital perm consultation and the stylist was super nice and explained that it probably wasn’t a great idea since I had some bleached sections (great that he was honest!).
I ended up going back for colour and worked with Skyler who was super patient and super sweet. He did a balayage for me and some random foils and I’m really happy with the results!!!
I last minute decided to add a haircut and a different Japanese stylist did it since Skyler had other appointments and I absolutely love the cut as well! Very light layers without being too whispy or flippy!!!
The head massage during the wash is also absolute heaven!!!
The cut was 45 with a senior stylist, which isn’t bad at all! The colour was a bit pricey though (balayage was 170 without bleaching and foils were additional) which is why I took off one star.

Consistently standards, always satisfied.
I have been here twice and both times it was a very positive experience.
Its the small things that make the lasting impression.

Warehouse chic. Funky furniture. Cool.
Hairdressers:
I usually work with Skylar but she was not available, but Chris was able to help me. He was funny and a master of his craft. Must note Rob whom washed my hair was amazing! He gave me an awesome head massage. I almost fell asleep in the chair.
Service:
Very good. They service some awesome tea, a locker for your belongings. Very clean even while my hair was being cut. Love the hours of this place, they are open till 10pm! They use true quality products and they smell so good =)
Price:
Reasonable service, reasonable prices. I paid $ 45 for wash with an amazing head massage, cut and style. Worth it all.
I would return 100%.

I don’t normally leave reviews unless the experience was exceptionally great or tremendously horrible. In this case the salon did such a wonderful job with my ombré. It was a long process (took close to 7 – 8 hours) to dye, and style my hair, but it was all worth it. Thanks Raymond, Yoki, and the ncsalon team for making me look good ;D

This place seems to be a local favorite! Friday night was a busy full house kind of night for them. I had to wait a few minutes for my 7 pm appointment although I made an appointment.
My stylist was Japanese junior stylist with limited English capabilities but I was able to understand her. I requested for a haircut that makes my hair look more voluminous, but she told me that was impossible.
I’ve had haircuts at other places where it was possible, so I didn’t bother trying to convince her in case she just didn’t have that skill level.
The haircut was not amazing not was it horrible, my hair just looked shorter with no change in style. It was frustrating that she kept leaving for long periods of time and tending to other customers In the middle of cutting my hair. My haircut took more than two hours.
I like that they take your coat and offer you tea. There’s even a little locker to put your belongings or purse. The helper was a sweetheart, running around to help everyone with a wide smile on his face. If only everyone else working at this salon had his positive attitude, maybe I’d consider coming back.

This is a complicated review
I came here because it was close to where I was in Toronto, and my hair was bugging me. I made a booking here, and got in with Miko (Miho?). She was really nice, but didn’t speak english very well, and my Japanese is terrible (probably because I learned it from animé).
At first a guy approached me, to wash my hair, he seemed really nice, and he massaged my scalp and neck which is a nice touch. I didn’t have an product in my hair at the time, so his job wasn’t very hard.
Next I sat in front of the stylist, I have my hair cut so the under layer is shorter and the top is longer. I told her I wanted her to use the #2 clipped around the short part, and then texurize to this the top part, and shorten it by an inch and a quarter. For the most party she did a good job with the lengnth, and she did a good job with the clippers etc. But she didn’t do a very good job texurizing the top in order to have it thinner, also she cut in straight lines, I like my hair cut differently. She didn’t really seem to know what a feather texurizing razor is. Also she thought I should use gel on my hair. No. I feel bad, because she is a junior stylist, and she was so nice. But… Made made dane Miko.
Otherwise the price is good, everyone else was nice. The cut I got wasn’t horrible, even though it wasn’t exactly what I wanted.

Called at 11am and got an apt at 1pm right away. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and like all previous reviews, I was taken care of and had a locker to store my bag and things. My stylist’s name is Miho and she did an excellent job listening to my needs. She’s Japanese and we had no issues communicating in English.
All i wanted was a nice trim with layers. I had plenty of magazines to flip through while she worked diligently, the whole process took 1.5 hour.
oh the scalp massage was excellent albeit short-​lived. the shampoo and conditioner smelled so good and the leather black chair was the most comfortable chair I’ve ever sat on for a hair wash. The arm rests are full and the back is well-​supported.
I’ll definitely come back for another trim in a few months, a good find in this neighborhood. $ 40 well spent!

I’m a new fan. Went twice in two weeks. First time I came I had a junior stylist and just wanted to curl my hair. I was greeted by a stylist with wonderful curls so I knew I was in good hands. I was ushered to the washing stations and got pampered with delicious smelling shampoo and conditioner followed by a really nice head massage. Probably the best head massage I’ve experienced in Toronto. Most places take 1 minute to wash your hair but this place probably takes 5. I felt really relaxed afterwards. Then I was ushered to the cutting station where not one but two stylists were drying my hair (they have a lot of staff on hand and even though there’s about 10 or so cutting stations and most, if not all were filled, they still had stylists /​staff in idle mode) After that, I got a nice blow out followed by curls and then about a bottle of hairspray put into my hair. Haha let’s just say my hair was in place the whole night. Total for blowout including tax and tip is $ 38.
The next time I went was the following week. This time I got a haircut with another junior stylist. Told her what I wanted, and she confirmed it by looking through a magazine then pointing to a picture with what I had in mind. Then I sat in the hair and even though it was the first time meeting her, I already trusted her with my hair. I know this because I totally fell asleep. Like the entire time. I may have woke up once while she was blowing it out after the cut. After she was done, I thought it looked okay. it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but it wasn’t bad. But the next day when I washed it, and days after, I started really liking the cut. It has lots of layers and movement and effortless to maintain. Totally love it.
Overall I really like this salon. Great value, nice head massages, cheap cuts at $ 35, chic and trendy salon, friendly staff who understands Asian hair, Japanese and Chinese stylists, uptown location… like seriously, what’s not to like?
Other random stuff: They serve you delicious herbal tea in a cute cup with silicon lids, have a locker for you to store your valueables, and have lots of magazines for you to browse in case you need inspiration

Had my hair cut here recently. Service was alright.
I hadn’t cut my hair for nearly half a year and just wanted a little trim. My cut ended up costing $ 39.55 (no tax if u use cash). It was a wash, cut & style. They also offer a scalp massage while you’re getting your hair washed (included in price). So relaxing… Thought it was worth it plus it was quite close to where I live. Walk down the street & it’s there! No parking hassle. It was also easy to make an appointment as they likely only cater to those in the area (I called on the same day). Those who wish to drive, should probably try their thornhill location instead. Ample parking in TH.
They offer other hair services as well. Colour, highlights, perms (straight/​digital). I asked the price about the digital perm but for my length (past mid back) it was $ 200 (about average). Digital perming is basically perming only the ends so it’s got waves/​curls. Awesome for asian hair. However, once I heard about how we need to blow dry it (risk of damaging hair imho), twirl it w/​fingers, I thought it was a little too annoying. I’m extremely lazy w/​maintaining hair so I will stick w/​not blowing drying my flat straight asian hair & using a curling iron when necessary.
They also gave me a cup of tea but the guy who served just put it down and didn’t say anything. Not sure if it was meant for me or not… Guess so since no one else touched it.
As for my hair, it looked really nice afterwards. I liked how they styled my hair without using any products (hair sprays, mousse, etc.).
Will definitely be back in 6 months.
