At Learn2Knit. ca we teach non-​knitters how to knit so that everyone can create beautiful hand-​knit items which will become heirloom pieces for family and friends.

We are conveniently located in north Toronto. In my home or yours, you can learn to knit and purl in a few hours. Class sizes are small, and skills are broken down into manageable bits. Everyone can learn this marvellous skill in a stress-​free environment with proven teaching methods using hands-​on techniques and videos. Personalized, patient knitting instruction guarantees success.

We do learn-​2-​knit parties too! If you’re looking for something different next time you get together with a few friends, call us and we’ll bring all the supplies and teach all of you how to knit in just a couple of hours.

History

Established in 2013.

Janice established Learn-​2-​Knit with Janice in response to the many people who’ve asked her for help in a complicated project but really didn’t know the basics. She had been informally teaching and helping people for 8 years in a non-​profit she established with a friend, but many of these people wanted more one-​to-​one and small-​group instruction.

Janice also knew that, unlike so many other activities, knitting can be done in 2-​minute spurts or 2-​hour marathons. You don’t need EXTRA time to knit — you fill in the blank spaces of your day and feel so proud and productive as you watch a lifeless ball of yarn spring to life in the shape of a gorgeous afghan, shawl, sweater or scarf.

This business was established to help people learn a lifelong hobby which has benefits to brain health, is a proven stress-​reliever and can be taken anywhere. The end result is a healthier you, and gorgeous gifts to family and friends which will last forever.

Business Owner

Janice learned to knit from her very talented grandmother when she was 10 years old. Without divulging details, this means she’s been knitting for 40+ years! She started up (with a friend) a non-​profit, Shaar Shalom Mitzvah Knitters, which has now gifted more than 10,000 shawls, afghans, lap blankets, mitts, hats and scarves to those in need of spiritual, emotional and physical warmth. Within this group, Janice has taught many non-​knitters to knit beautifully and help many knitters to figure out mistakes and improve their skills.

Janice is a trained teacher in ESL and has successfully run a business, Keyboarders, teaching people how to type and use their computers back in the ‘90s.

Janice leverages her infectious love for knitting and her skill for teaching in her new venture, Learn2Knit with Janice. She provides clear direction, support and encouragement.
